    Default University Research on Fans' Views of Racism in the NRL

    Dear all,

    I am an academic at the University of South Australia (my details are included at the beginning of the survey) and I am conducting some research on fansí views of racism in the NRL. To do so, I have constructed an anonymous survey and it should only take a few minutes of your time to complete:

    Completing the survey is voluntary, but I hope you agree it is a topical study and I thank you in advance for your time.

    Are you also running the same survey for the AFL?

    Oh boy, another High Inquisitor of Woke Studies here to lecture us on how awful we working class peasants are.

    I think people are naturally a bit suspicious of a research project from SA about the NRL. Why the NRL? Are other sports being queried?

    But I think the questions themselves are fine. But I think that the question about witnessing racism needs way more nuance.

    Have you witnessed racist behaviour or language at NRL matches?
    Yes/no

    So if one anti social, drunk, racist jerk utters one single racist comment in my 30 years of Rugby League watching... that equals what? NRL crowds are racist?

    There needs to be a sliding scale or always/often/sometimes/rarely/never or other better answers for what I think is the headline question.

    I lead research teams and although their credentials stack-up the project is light weight.
    Four reasons to escape to Queensland: Sun, Surf, Sand & the Titans.

    Yep. The questions are very weak and would allow the poser to draw any conclusion they want.
    Lose = Not win.
    Loose = Not tight.

    It's not that hard!

    Thanks to those who have completed the survey. The focus on the NRL is part of a wider project that is also looking at the AFL.
