The 2020 season of Titans contracted Noah Johannssen.

Noah Johannssen’s most recent match for the Titans was when he part of the Titans U18 side in their annual match against the Newcastle Knights SG Ball (U18) side in Coffs Harbour in February 2020.

Noah Johannssen was named the Titans best forward for the match, but a bad effort when you consider that he is still U18 eligible in 2021. In a piece of trivia, Noah Johannssen played against his older brother Tim in the match who was part of the Knights side.

Noah Johannssen was named to start in the front row for the Northern Rivers Titans in Round One of the 2020 U18 Laurie Daley Cup competition against the Parramatta Eels at Cudgen however the match was cancelled due to the wet conditions.

Noah Johannssen started Round Two of the U18 Laurie Daley Cup in the front row against the Newcastle Knights in Ballina and was impressive including a great break through the centre of the ruck in the first half of around forty metres before popping a pass to his right to send Reef Somerville away to score. It was an outstanding run by Noah Johannssen who just burst through the Knights defence and showed outstanding speed for a front rower when he space.

Noah Johannssen also started in the front row in Round Three against the Central Coast Roosters and yet again simply outstanding constantly making metres through the centre of the ruck. Noah Johannssen also produced a piece of quality late in the match when he took the ball close to the Central Coast line but at the last minute jinked to his left and popped a great short ball to fellow front rower Jack Cullen who scored adjacent to the left upright untouched.

Noah Johannssen also started in the front row in Round Four against the Greater Northern Tigers scoring a powerful try from close range in the first half scoring near the left upright after taking the pass from the dummy half.

In the match Noah Johannssen also produced an outstanding return from a Greater Northern Tigers drop out. The ball was taken fifty five metres out with the ball give immediately to Noah Johannssen who crashed through the initial defensive line dragging defenders with him on a thirty five metre exquisite effort.

Noah Johannssen was also in the front row for the start of the Round Five local derby against North Coast and once again led from the front making significant ground through the centre of the ruck, a lot of which were post contact metres.

Noah Johannssen made his deserved Titans debut when he came off the bench for the Titans in their U16 clash against the Newcastle Knights in January of 2019 in very very hot and steamy conditions in Coffs Harbour.

In the match, Noah Johannssen had spells on the field in both halves and took the ball into the Knights defensive line with a hard straight running mentality and also was on hand to back up at every opportunity including taking a good one hand pass from Joseph Shannon in the first half to get the ball into the Knights twenty metre defensive area.

Noah Johannssen also started in the front row for the Titans U16 squad in their early October 2019 match against PNG at Pizzey Park when he scored a barnstorming try under the posts dragging three PNG defenders with him from ten metres out. It was clear from the moment that he took the ball no-one was going to stop from from crossing the line.

In fact Noah Johannssen was specifically mentioned by Jamie McCormack as one of the Titans best in the match.

Noah Johannssen played the 2020 season with the Bilambil Jets in the NRRRL U18 competition starting Round One in the front row against the Ballina Seagulls and also starting in the front row in Round Two against Murwillumbah and scored his first try of the season as the Jets went down 24 – 18 against Murwillumbah.

Noah Johannssen made it three starts in a row in the front row in Round Three against the Cudgen Hornets and was one of the co-captains for the match and scored as Bilambil lost a close match 26 – 22 to the Hornets.

Noah Johannssen made his NRRRL First Grade debut in Round Four of the 2020 season, starting in the front row against the Tweed Coast Raiders.

Round Five saw Noah Johannssen back in the NRRRL U18 competition starting the match against the Cudgen Hornets in the front row and also started in the front row in Round Eight against the Murwillumbah Mustangs.

Noah Johannssen started in the front row in Bilambil’s 2020 NRRRL U18 Elimination Final victory against the Tweed Coast Raiders as well as in the Preliminary Final against the Cudgen Hornets, scoring a powerful try in the second half. Noah Johannssen scored near the left corner post after a strong surge when he was able to hold off Cudgen defenders with a strong left arm fend before scoring out wide to get Bilambil back into the match.

The 2019 and 2020 seasons for Titans contracted Lachlan Offley.

In early in October 2019 Lachlan Offley was part of a Titans U14/15 NRRRL Invitational side that played a Titans U14 Gold Coast/Brisbane Academy side in a development match at Tweed Heads playing well as the NRRRL side went down 32 – 10 in an entertaining and high quality match. Lachlan Offley started the match at fullback and proved a handful every time that he touched the ball for the defensive line.

Lachlan Offley was also involved in the Titans U15 Academy matches at Burleigh in early 2020 in hot and steamy conditions and post those round robin matches against two other Titans teams signed a contract with the Titans which will see him part of the Titans JTS program for the next couple of seasons at least.

In March 2020 the Alstonville High School student travelled to the Kadina High School Campus to compete at the Northern Rivers Zone 15 Years Boys Rugby League Trials. Post those trials Lachlan Offley was selected into the Northern Rivers Zone 15 Years Boys Rugby League Team. 2020 also saw Lachlan Offley trial for the Northern Rivers Zone 15 Years Boys Touch Team.

When the Group One rugby league competition recommenced in July 2020, Lachlan Offley started Round One of the competition in the right centre position and scored for Ballina as they went down 16 – 14 to Casino RSM.

In Round Two of the Group One U15 competition, Lachlan Offley moved from right centre to fullback and had a big match scoring a hat trick and kicking a conversion as Ballina defeated the South Grafton Rebels 28 – 0. Lachlan Offley finished the Round two match with an individual points haul of fourteen points.

Lachlan Offley also started at fullback in Round Three as Ballina defeated Clarence Coast 18 – 12.
Lachlan Offley added a further two tries in Round Four when he started at fullback as Ballina defeated Kyogle 28 – 6 and scored once again in Round Five against Clarence Coast from the fullback position in a 44 – 10 win.

Lachlan Offley also started at fullback in Round Six and scored a double in a scintillating display as the Seagulls defeated Grafton 32 – 22 and continued in the custodian role in Round Seven against Casino RSM.

Lachlan Offley also started at fullback in Round Eight against Casino RSM scoring a double as the Seagulls went down 36 – 18. Lachlan Offley also started at fullback, scoring once again as Ballina defeated South Grafton 38 – 14.

Round Ten of the 2020 Group One U15 competition saw Lachaln Offley start at fullback and score as Ballina defeated Clarence Coast 32 – 10.

In total in the 2020 Group One regular season U15 competition Lachlan Offley scored thirteen tries (130% strike rate) and kicked a conversion to finish the regular season with fifty four points.

Lachlan Offley started at fullback in the 2020 Group One U15 Grand Final against Casino RSM.

Lachlan Offley made his Group One U16.5 debut off the bench in Round Seven for Ballina as they defeated Casino RSM 58 – 24 and also came off the bench in Round Eight as Ballina defeated Casino RSM 38 – 0 as well as in Round Ten as Ballina went down 28 – 17 to the Clarence Coast Magpies.

Lachlan Offley started from the bench in the 2020 Group One U16.5 Grand Final against the Clarence Coast Magpies.

In 2019 for the outstanding Ballina side that went through the 2019 season undefeated Lachlan Offley scored a staggering 122 points from just ten matches to average 12.2 points per game.

Lachlan Offley scored twenty seven tries scoring in every match to finish with a ridiculous strike rate of 270% to finish the season as the competitions leading try scorer (five ahead of fellow Titan Kye Cooper) and second leading point’s scorer overall.

Lachlan Offley scored an incredible five tries in a midseason match against Kyogle and scored six doubles, including doubles in each of the first three rounds of the competition which were against South Grafton, Casino RSM and Clarence Coast respectively. Lachlan Offley’s other hat tricks came against Clarence Coast and Lismore Marist Brothers later in the season.

Lachlan Offley added a double against South Grafton late and also scored against Grafton on two occasions. With the boot Lachlan Offley primarily converted his own tries including kicking two conversions in Round Two against Casino RSM (one of his many hat trick matches).

A couple of matches stood out for me at least in 2019 for Lachlan Offley with those matches coming against Marist Brothers Lismore and the Kyogle Turkeys.

Against Marist Brothers Lismore Lachlan Offley had a huge day on his way to scoring three outstanding tries. The first try that I wanted to highlight was Lachlan Offley’s first try of the match, after making a break from sixty metres out down the left touch line, Lachlan Offley produced an outstanding double step (like a Benji Marshall in his prime high step) to bamboozle the fullback, eventually beating him on the inside ten metres out with Lachlan Offley putting the ball down for one of the best tries that I have ever seen three metres in from the left corner post.

Lachlan Offley scored another try in the match, this time on the right side when he received the ball from a Ballina backline movement twenty two metres out and was able to round the fullback through sheer speed to score in the right corner. The final highlighted try started when Lachlan Offley ran a great line into a gap fifty metres out and was found by Kye Cooper. After getting through the defensive line untouched, Lachlan Offley produced a great in and away to beat the fullback and bring the ball around to score under the posts.

A further 2019 Group One U14 match that I wanted to highlight that showcases Lachlan Offley’s skill set was a late 2019 season match against Kyogle, where three of Lachlan Offley’s tries highlight how lucky the Titans are to have him signed for the next couple of seasons.

Showcasing his speed in the match against Kyogle, Lachlan Offley flew through when chasing a grubber kick to score under the posts. That description does not sound particularly impressive but the speed and desire that Lachlan Offley showed was outstanding. It looked certain that the Turkeys had the ball covered but Lachlan Offley just wanted it more.

Lachlan Offley produced an outstanding left arm fend to break through the defensive line on the left side of the field and then easily outpaced the fullback and the third try to highlight was yet another long range effort, this time from sixty metres out, Lachlan Offley got on the outside of the defensive line sprinting down the left touch line before breaking through the tackle of the Kyogle fullback with strength, highlighting that Lachlan Offley has a lot more to his game than speed, a heck of a lot more.

Lachlan Offley was also outstanding in the 2019 Group One U14 Grand Final that Ballina won 40 – 6 agaisnt South Grafton with Lachlan Offley starting the match at fullback and scoring a double in the Premiership victory.

Lachlan Offley’s first try of the 2019 Grand Final when he chased through a Kye Cooper long kick off a Ballina tap penalty to receive a perfect bounce to dive over in the left corner, from what was surely a set move in the first half.

Lachlan Offley also scored in the second half when he ran onto a short ball from Key Cooper down the left side of the field and he was able to easily beat the cover defence with his speed to score in the big win.

Lachlan Offley also played in five Group One U15 matches in 2019 and was not overawed by playing up an age group as in those five matches he finished with a strike rate of 140% after scoring seven tries.

Lachlan Offley scored in his Group One U15 debut against Clarence Coast in May 2019 and then scored doubles in his final three U15 matches of the season which were against Lismore Marist Brothers, Kyogle and Clarence Coast.

Post the Group One season, Lachlan Offley was named at fullback for the 2019 Group One U14 representative side that played in the New South Wales Country Age Championships at Port Macquarie with Lachlan Offley scoring in Group One’s 14 all draw against Maitland on Day One, match that saw Group One progress as a result of scoring first in the match.

The 2020 season for Titans contracted Solomon Torrens.

Solomon Torrens spent the 2019/20 off season training with the Titans Rookie Squad as well as training with the Tweed Heads Seagulls Queensland Cup squad and was part of the Titans Rookie Squad that played the Tweed Heads Seagulls Queensland Cup side in early February 2020. Whilst the Titans Rookie squad went down in the match they all obtained outstanding experience playing against hardened Queensland Cup veterans.

Solomon Torrens also started from the bench for the Tweed Heads A Grade side in their late February 2020 trial against the Burleigh Bears which was played as a curtain raiser to the Titans against Burleigh NRL trial at Pizey Park.

Solomon Torrens started Round One of the 2020 Hastings Deering’s Colts competition for the Tweed Heads Seagulls from the bench against the Northern Pride making a big impression on the match when he came on late in the second half producing a number of outstanding runs as soon as he came on through the centre of the ruck, playing in the front row.

When the Gold Coast Rugby League restarted in early August 2020, Solomon Torrens started on the bench for the Tugun Seahawks in Round One of the Gold Coast Rugby League First Grade competition against the Oremau Shearers.

Solomon Torrens was outstanding in the match scoring a double as the Seahawks defeated Ormeau 52 – 28. Both of Solomon Torrens were as a result of powerful charges. Solomon Torren’s first try come in the first half, when, operating on the left Solomon Torrens charged onto the ball around ten metres out bursting through two defenders in the Ormeau front line before he dragged the fullback over the line with him.

Solomon Torren’s try in the second half was even better. Solomon Torrens received the ball twenty metres out bursting through the initial defensive line and then spub 360 degrees clockwise to twist past another defender before bumping off the Ormeau fullback to score next to the right upright, for an outstandint individual effort.

After his outstanding performance in Round One Solomon Torrens also started from the bench in Round Two against the Mudgeeraba Redbacks and in Round Three against the Currumbin Eagles and scored the winning try in the dying seconds.

With Tugun four points down late in the match, they flung the ball to the right and Solomon Torrens flew onto the ball from twenty metres, crashing through the initial defensive line and then straight over the fullback to score under the posts to win the match for the Seahawks.

Round Four saw Solomon Torrens once again start from the bench for Tugun against the Burleigh Bears but in Round Five Solomon Torrens moved into the Seahawks starting side at lock against Runaway Bay.

Solomon Torrens moved back to start on the bench for the Seahhawks in their Round Six match against the Southport Tigers before moving back into the starting line-up at right second row in Round Eight against Currumbin where he was partnered by James Torrens.

In the Seahawks 20 – 18 victory against the Eagles, Solomon Torrens recorded two try assists, one in each half. In essence both were identical. On both occasions Solomon Torrens was operating on the right side of the field, done short blind sides within ten metres of the Currumbin try line. On both occasions when Solomon Torrens received the ball he held the ball up just a fraction before producing short passes to his right, on the first occasion to his right winger and the second to his right centre for them to score.

Solomon Torrens also started in the right second row position against the Runaway Bay Seagulls in Round Nine. In the final regular season round of the 2020 Gold Coast Rugby League First Grade competition being Round Ten,Solomon Torrens started at right second row as the Seahawks took on the Southport Tigers.

Daniel Butterini’s try came early in the first half when he was on hand to dive on a grubber kick from Ryan Rivett. Daniel Butterini’s try assist was certainly not a conventional one, on the last tackle, PBC put up a hopeful cross field kick towards the left, Daniel Butterini took the ball on the full and was able to be a one armed, right arm pass over his head to his support to score in the left hand corner of the field.

Daniel Butterini also started at left second row for PBC as they qualified for the 2020 Langer Cup final on the back of an impressive 34 – 6 victory over Ipswich State High School.

Daniel Butterini’s late match try was an outstanding solo affair. With just five minutes to go, Daniel Butterini took a hit-up to the right of the play the ball, immediately cutting back behind the play the ball and holding off a defender as he ran parralell to the defensive line with his left arm. When he was able to break free of the defender Daniel Butterini stepped off his left foot to get through the Bilambil defensive line and was able to outpace the cover defence to dive over next to the left upright.

Daniel BUtterini started at lock in the 2020 NRRRL First Grade Grand Final against the Tweed Coast Raiders, scoring a second half try, however that could not prevent Murwillumbah going donw 24 – 18 in the decider.

Daniel Butterini’s Grand Final try was yet another impressive individual effort. Daniel Butterini was on hand to retrieve a grubber kick that the Mustangs put in that rebounded off Raiders feet. When he collected the ball, Daniel Butterini ran across field to his left palming off three defenders with his right arm. When his progress was bloakced by additional defenders, Daniel Butterini propped and turned back to his right, using his left arm to fend off two more defenders before straightening up to score just to the right of the uprights to get Murwillumbah back to within six points.

The 2020 season of Titans linked Tanu Nona.

Tanu Nona was outstanding for the Cudgen Hornets in Round One of the Group 18 U16 competition playing as a running forward, however the Hornets went down 36 – 26 to South Tweed. In Cudgen’s 2020 NRRRL U18 Major semi-final loss against Murwllumbah Tanu Nona started from the bench. Tanu Nona was also on the bench in the 2020 NRRRL GRen U18 Grand Final playing right second row as the Hornets defeated Murwillumbah 28 – 16 in a bad tempered Grand Final.

Tanu Nona also recorded a first half try assist.

With PBC on the attack less than a metre out from the line on the left side of the field, Tanu Nona moved into dummy half and when he took possession shaped to pass to his left, the dummy opened up a gap just to the right of the play the ball, which was exploited by Tanu Nona to dive over to put PBC back in front.

Tanu Nona’s try assist came on the first half and in fact resulted in PBC’s first try of the match. Tanu Nona put in a short attacking kick from dummy half, which after bouncing around was collected by front rower Caleb Temomo to put down in the in-goal.

In the 2020 Walters Cup Grand Final Tanu Nona started at hooker and was one of PBC’s best as they went down to a Titans contracted William Semu inspired Marsden SHS side. Tanu Nona was a constant danger out of dummy half, including one break in the first half when he darted out of dummy half to the right racing forty metres down field before he was raounded up.

Whilst Tanu Nona started the match at hooker, he spent time in the second half as a running forward and was also effective in that role, playing primarily on the right.

In early October 2020 Tanu Nona was part of a Titans squad that played a trial against a Titans Group 18 U16 Invitational side with the match being played at Cbus Stadium, giving the young players a great experience with an added bonus that the players wore Titans jerseys.

What's everyone's thoughts on the QRL decision not to change the Mal Meninga comp to U19?

I think that it is a very good decision, if they had changed it, few 17 year old boys would have played in the MM Cup next season.

19 year old's can play Colts as they are clearly more physically more mature.

The 2020 season of Titan Reef Somerville.

To kick up his 2020 season Reef Somerville was named to start in the second row, specifically right second row for the Northern Rivers Titans in Round One of the 2020 U18 Laurie Daley Cup against the Parramatta Eels at Cudgen however the match was cancelled due to the wet conditions prevailing in the region that weekend.

Reef Sommerville started Round Two of the 2020 U18 Laurie Daley Cup at right second row against the Newcastle Knights in Ballina scoring a long range try when he loomed up in support to the right of a rampaging Noah Johannsen to run forty metres to score.

Reef Sommerville also started in the right second row position n Round Three against the Central Coast Roosters and in Round Four against the Greater Northern Tigers but moved back to start from the bench for the Round Five local derby against North Coast scoring in the first half when Reef Sommerville chased through a Thomas Weaver kick.

The ball rebounded off the left upright and Reef Somerville got down low to scope the ball up in both hands and dive over adjacent to the left upright highlighting Reef Sommerville’s safe hands and focus to get his body down low rather than just throwing his hands at the ball with little thought of his balance or body control.

Reef Sommerville started training with the Cudgen Hornets U18 NRRRL side in June 2020 and team mates in the side included fellow Titans Thomas Weaver, Jack Cullen and Bailey Martin amongst others.

Reef Sommerville started Round One of the 2020 NRRRL U18 competition at left centre as Cudgen travelled to Byron Bay to take on the Devils with Reef Sommervilel scoring in the Hornets 14 – 10 victory. Reef Sommerville also started in the centres in Round Three against the Bilambil Jets and scored his second try from as many NRRRL U18 matches as Cudgen defeated Bilambil 26 - 22.

Reef Sommerville also started in the centres in Round Four against the Murwillumbah Mustangs and in Round Five against the Bilambil Jets. After missing a number of rounds, Reef Somerville started Round Eight against the Tweed Coast Raiders in the centres.

In Cudgen’s 2020 NRRRL U18 Major semi-final loss against Murwllumbah Reef Somervilles started in the centres. Reef Somerville also started at right centre as Cudgen qualified for the 2020 NRRRL U18 Grand Final on the back of a 24 – 16 Preliminary Final victory over the Bilambil Jets.

In the 2020 NRRRL U18 Grand Final, Reef Somerville also started at right centre and had some very good long runs, including a long run down the right touch line in the last minute of the match as Cudgen defeated Murwillumbah to become the Premiers 28 – 16.

Also in 2020 Reef Sommerville was part of the PBC Langer Cup Open school boy rugby league Open A squad for the Term Three school boy rugby league competition. In PBC’s first trial after the Covid 19 pandemic, Reef Somerville started at left centre for the PBC Open A side that played against the PBC B side.

Reef Sommerville started Round One of the Langer Cup at right centre as PBC took on and defeated Ipswich State High School 22 – 10 at Pizzey Park also starting there in Round two against Wavell State High School in an 18 all draw and Round Three against St Mary’s Toowoomba.

In PBC’s 16 – 6 win over St Mary’s Reef Somerville scored his first try in PBC colours when he was on hand to take on off load from Troy Duckett after looping around Troy Duckett who had taken a bomb on the full. Reef Somerville was held by the leg by a St Mary’s defender but he was able to reach out to put the ball down with his right arm.

Reef Somerville also started at right centre in the Round Four local derby against Keebar Park as well as in Round Five against Marsden State High School.

Reef Somerville also started at right centre for PBC as they qualified for the 2020 Langer Cup final on the back of an impressive 34 – 6 victory over Ipswich State High School scoring the final try of the match when he stayed on his touch line line to run ten metres to score in the right corner after receiving a cut out pass from Ryan Rivett.

Reef Somerville started the 2020 Langer Cup Grand Final at right centre for PBC as they defeated Keebra Park 16 – 8 in a high quality match scoring the try that sealed PBC’s victory when he charged from around thirty five metres out to score fifteen metres in from the right corner post.

In the Queensland School Boys Final against Kirwan State High School Reef Somerville started at right centre as PBC travelled to take on their North Queensland based opponents.

The 2020 season of Titans contracted Jack Cullen

Jack Cullen was named to start in the front row for the Northern Rivers Titans in Round One of the 2020 U18 Laurie Daley Cup against the Parramatta Eels at Cudgen however the match was cancelled due to the wet conditions.

Jack Cullen started Round Two of the 2020 U18 Laurie Daley Cup in the front row against the Newcastle Knights in Ballina scoring in the first half when he barged over from close range to score adjacent to the right upright. The try was as a result of the set play. Fellow front rower Noah Johannssen ran back towards the play the ball and Jack Cullen ran the opposite direction receiving the ball in a big gap to score.

Jack Cullen also started in the front row in Round Three against the Central Coast Roosters and scored his second try from as many matches late in the match when he ran onto a great pass from fellow front rower Noah Johannssen to score adjacent to the left upright untouched.

Jack Cullen also started in the front row in Round Four against the Greater Northern Tigers but moved at start at lock for the Round Five local derby against North Coast.

Jack Cullen started training with the Cudgen Hornets U18 NRRRL side in June 2020 and team mates in the side included fellow Titans contracted or linked players Thomas Weaver, Bailey Martin, Keegan Pace and Reef Sommerville amongst others.

Jack Cullen started Round One of the 2020 NRRRL U18 competition in the front row as Cudgen travelled to Byron Bay to take on the Devils with the Hornets recording a 14 – 10 victory in slippery conditions. Jack Cullen also started in Round Three against Bilambil in slippery conditions again as Cudgen remained undefeated. Jack Cullen also started in the front row in Round Four against Murwillumbah.

Jack Cullen was at his powerful best after starting in the front row as Cudgen qualified for the 2020 NRRRL U18 Grand Final on the back of a 24 – 16 Preliminary Final victory over the Bilambil Jets.

Jack Cullen also started in the front row in the 2020 NRRRL U18 Grand Final and produced some telling charges through the centre of the ruck as Cudgen became Premiers on the back of a 28 – 16 win over Murwillumbah in a bad tempered match.

Jack Cullen made his NRRRL First Grade debut in Round Eight when he started from the bench against the Tweed Coast Raiders.

In a sign of the faith that Cudgen have in him, Jack Cullen started at lock in the Hornets 2020 NRRRL First Grade Elimination Final loss to the Bilambil Jets.

Also in 2020 Jack Cullen was part of the PBC Langer Cup Open A school boy rugby league squad, where he operated primarily in the front row, coming off the number in the majority of his appearances in his first year at PBC. In PBC’s first trial after the Covid 19 pandemic, Jack Cullen started in the front row for the PBC A side that played against the PBC B side.

Jack Cullen started Round One of the Langer Cup in the front row as PBC took on Ipswich State High School and had an impressive outing playing extended minutes in PBC’s 22 – 10 victory due to multiple injuries, in fact for me Jack Cullen was clearly the best front rower on the field regardless of team over the duration of the match.

Jack Cullen also started in the front row in Round Two against Wavell State High School and in Round Three against St Mary’s Toowoomba and also scored when he burst through the centre of the St Mary’s ruck and was only stopped less than a metre out from the line right under the goal posts.

After missing a couple of roundsJack Cullen started in the front row for PBC as they qualified for the 2020 Langer Cup final on the back of an impressive 34 – 6 victory over Ipswich State High School producing some outstanding last ditch defence.

Jack Cullen started the 2020 Langer Cup Grand Final in the front row for PBC as they defeated Keebra Park 16 – 8 in a high quality match and more than held his own against a bigger Keebra Park forward pack.

In the Queensland School Boys Final against Kirwan State High School Jack Cullen started in the front row as PBC travelled to take on their North Queensland based opponents going down 24 - 20.

The 2020 season of Titans contracted Riley Lack.

Riley Lack was named to start at five eight for the Northern Rivers Titans in Round One of the 2020 U18 Laurie Daley Cup against the Parramatta Eels at Cudgen however the match was cancelled due to the wet conditions.

Riley Lack started Round Two of the U18 Laurie Daley Cup at five eight against the Newcastle Knights in Ballina playing on the right side of the field as usual. Riley lack also scored late in the match after putting a bomb up to the right corner. Riley Lack immediately chased his own kick and after it was retrieved by Rowan Mansfield was on hand to take the pass from the fellow Titans contracted player to score.

Riley Lack moved to the right centre position for Round Three against the Central Coast Roosters scoring late in the second half. A kick was put up to the right wing, Rowan Mansfield leapt high to take the ball on the full and just as he was about to be pushed over the side line threw a one armed pass (like an NFL quarter back) back inside to Riley Lack who scored in the right corner from a metre out. Riley Lack will probably never score an easier one.

Riley Lack moved back to five eight for Round Four against the Greater Northern Tigers and for the Round Five local derby against North Coast.

When the 2020 NRRRL competition recommenced in late July Riley Lack was part of the Murwillumbah Mustangs U18 side, starting Round One at fullback and kicking three from four conversions as the Mustangs overcame the Tweed Coast Raiders 22 – 16. Round Two saw Riley Lack move to five eight and kick four conversions from as many attempts as Murwillumbah defeated the Bilambil Jets 24 – 18.

Riley Lack led the Murwillumbah U18 NRRRL side to the Green Grand Final, starting the decider at left centre and scored a late second half try as the Mustangs went down 28 – 16 to the Cudgen Hornets.

Riley Lack scored from a set play off the scrum. The scrum lacked in the left corner ten metres out from their own line, after winning the scrum the ball was kicked down field by the five eight. Riley Lack outpaced the Cudgen defence who had been caught off guard to score out wide on the left.

Riley Lack made his NRRRL First Grade debut in Round Eight when he came off the bench in Round Eight against the Bilambil Jets. In the 2020 NRRRL First Grade Preliminary Final, Riley Lack started on the right wing and scored the last minute try that sealed Murwillumbah’s 20 – 18 win when he chased through a Kade Hill chip kick to take the ball on the full and score wide out in the right corner.

The 2020 season of Titans contracted Oskar Bryant.

Oskar Bryant was named to start at hooker for the Northern Rivers Titans in Round One of the 2020 U18 Laurie Daley Cup against the Parramatta Eels at Cudgen however the match was cancelled due to the incredibly wet conditions in the area at that time.

Oskar Bryant started Round Two of the U18 Laurie Daley Cup at hooker against the Newcastle Knights in Ballina and was impressive including a great break through the centre of the ruck in the first half of around forty metres before he drew the Knights fullback to send fullback Jaylan DeGroot away to score.

Oskar Bryant also started at hooker in Round Three against the Central Coast Roosters and in Round Four against the Greater Northern Tigers recording a try assist when he threw the last pass to Noah Johannssen to score in the first half.

Oskar Bryant also started at hooker for the Round Five local derby against the North Coast Bulldogs and was his usual busy self in the centre of the ruck in both attack and defence.

One of the most recent matches that Oskar Bryant played in a Titans jersey was when he started from the bench for the Titans U18 side in their annual match against the Newcastle Knights SG Ball (U18) side in Coffs Harbour in January 2020.

Oskar Bryant started Round One of the 2020 NRRRL U18 competition at hooker as Cudgen travelled to Byron Bay to take on the Devils and also started at hooker in Round Three against the Bilambil Jets and in Round Five against the Bilambil Jets. After missing a number of rounds, Oskar Bryant started Round Eight against the Tweed Coast Raiders at hooker.

In Cudgen’s 2020 NRRRL U18 Major semi-final loss against Murwllumbah Oskar Bryant started at hooker and also started at hooker as Cudgen qualified for the 2020 NRRRL U18 Grand Final on the back of a 24 – 16 Preliminary Final victory over the Bilambil Jets.

Oskar Bryant recorded a first half try assist in the match when he darted out of dummy half to his right from fifty metres out, splitting the Jets defence right down the middle before drawing the fullback passing to his left to send his support runner away to score.

Oskar Bryant also started at hooker in the 2020 NRRRL U18 Grand Final and produced some telling dummy half runs through the centre of the ruck as Cudgen became Premiers on the back of a 28 – 16 win over Murwillumbah in a bad tempered match.

Oskar Bryant made his deserved NRRRL First Grade debut for the Cudgen Hornets in Round Six starting at half back against the Tweed Coast Raiders.

In a sign of the faith that Cudgen have in him, Oskar Bryant started from the bench in the Hornets 2020 NRRRL First Grade Elimination Final loss to the Bilambil Jets.

Also in 2020 Oskar Bryant was part of the PBC Langer Cup Open A school boy rugby league squad, where he operated primarily in the dummy half role. In PBC’s first trial after the Covid 19 pandemic, Oskar Bryant started at hooker for the PBC A side that played against the PBC B side.

Oskar Bryant started Round One of the Langer Cup on the bench as PBC took on Ipswich State High School and made an instant impact when he came on late in the first half, making a break through the centre of the ruck after running out of dummy half to the right of the play the ball. PBC scored two plays later with the Keebra Park defence still in disarray after Oskar Bryant’s line break.

Oskar Bryant was at it again early in the second half when he kicked down the centre of the field from dummy half, with the kick travelling sixty metres forcing the Ipswich fullback to bring the ball out of the in goal, with Oskar Bryant being one of the tacklers who brought him down less than a metre out. From the subsequent play the ball three PBC defenders, including Oskar Bryant forced the Keebra Park defender back into the in goal to force a goal line drop out.

Oskar Bryant in fact crossed the line in the second half when close to the line he dummied to his right before diving over but the potential try was called back when Reef Sommerville was adjudged (I am not sure why) to have interfered with the marker.

Oskar Bryant also started from the bench in Round Two of the 2020 Langer Cup and made a big difference when he came on, scoring in both halves in the 18 all draw. Oskar Bryant’s first try came in the dying moments of the first half. Oskar Bryant took off out of dummy half to his left charging five metres to score between two Wavell defenders fifteen metres to the left of the up rights.

Oskar Bryant completed his double mid-way through the second half. Two metres out from the line just to the left of the up rights, Oskar Bryant got into dummy half and after skipping out to his left, Oskar Bryant shaped to pass to his left (it was not a dummy per say) before diving over.

After missing Round Three Oskar Bryant started from the bench in the Round Four local derby against Keebra Park and also started from the bench in Round Five against Marsden State High School and recorded a second half try assist when he produced some good footwork and pass out of dummy half to put his older brother Parker over under the posts.

Oskar Bryant also started on the bench for PBC as they qualified for the 2020 Langer Cup final on the back of an impressive 34 – 6 victory over Ipswich State High School.

Oskar Bryant started the 2020 Langer Cup Grand Final from the bench row for PBC as they defeated Keebra Park 16 – 8 in a high quality match impressing with his high energy performance and also his short kicking game out of dummy half which resulted twice in Keebra Park having to restart play from a drop out.

In the Courier Mail 2020 Langer Cup Team of the Year, Oskar Bryant was named in starting side at hooker and in the Courier Mail 2020 Top 30 South East Queensland school boy rugby/rugby league list Oskar Bryant was named at No. 12.

In the Queensland School Boys Final against Kirwan State High School Oskar Bryant started on the bench as PBC travelled to take on their North Queensland based opponents and as usual added urgency and enthusiasm to the PBC when he came in into the dummy half role.

Oskar Bryant was also one of PBC’s try scorers in their 24 – 20 loss. Late in the second half, Oskar Bryant went into dummy half a metres out from the line. When the ball was played, Oskar Bryant took a couple of steps out of dummy half to the right of the play the ball and threw an extravagant dummy to his right only dive over next to the left upright. When I say next to the left upright, I literally mean right next to the left upright and it looked left he hit the upright as he was forcing his way over with two defenders trying to prevent him from scoring.
