Naturally charges don't get laid on folks unless the coppers have sufficient evidence. But what are others thoughts if good representation gets some of the players off the charges? It's happened before.

Should they still have their contracts torn up and thrown out of club regardless?

I believe in the presumption of innocence unless found otherwise. If we all want to bury our heads in the sand and think that this doesn't happen at other clubs, across all levels, including junior rugby league (not talking about coke but other drugs, including performance enhancing) then we are kidding ourselves. If these charges are dropped or these guys are found not guilty then how does the club have the right to tear up contracts. Wendell Sailor is an ambassador of the game, Joey Johns is an immortal. The game is built on turning a blind eye cause cleaning it up is to big a task. I compare it to where I work, if we bought in drug testing then we would lose 65% of our 130 odd employees, and that's not just aimed at the manufacturing floor guys, across all departments, including some management would be taking a walk too.

I don't want to keep repeating it, but these charges will be down graded, supply is a BS beat up, they'll be charged with possession and use, probably plead guilty, cop a fine and move on.

As JB said, lots of people take drugs. You'd be naive to think the lawyers, judges and even some coppers out there aren't taking illegal drugs in some form. Don't get me started on doctors and health care professionals. All sorts of people use drugs for all sorts of reasons. Don't be so precious that because one drug is made illegal it makes it worse than another. Alcohol and tobacco are the biggest drug problems in this country.

Anyway, I've said it before, let it play out, it will settle, the media will find the next story to beat up and we can all move on, with or without those found guilty of drug use.

Bloody hell, 65% of your guys are on stuff. I hope its not a school.
Assuming these guys are just guilty of using - do we cop it and make the usual noises about rehab programs etc or still give them the punt on the basis that we cannot allow any sort of negative culture to fester in the club now after all these various incidents.
I am not sure which way I want them to go, probably the latter as it sends a message to the players and the community that we are serious about trying to clean the place up.

Manufacturing, your kids are safe, until they come work here (stay in school kids). Not uncommon for companies to introduce drug policies to have half of their staff fail. But that's besides the point.

If this truly is the tip of the iceberg and there are say, 20 or 30 more nrl players charged, what will be the expectations then? I'm happy for a clean out as long as it's fair and equitable among all clubs.

Excellent Post Mate and I cannot stress enough your words, "I believe in the presumption of innocence unless found otherwise" These are such important words in our Society, we must wait until the court matters are resolved and if all of our players are found to be NOT GUILTY, then no further action should be taken and they resume all involvement with our club.
The NRL rule of not bring the game into disrepute is then unfounded for they are innocent men under our judicial system, which is what makes us a fair and free society.

Another point that I feel strongly about, I am not a Zillman fan, but I respect all NRL players in relation to them playing & competing in this very hard game and he has been a fantastic embasseder for our club on and off the field, he has always brought a positive and squeaky clean image to our club, a great example for our young supporters.
He does not deserve the degrading comments made by a small few on this Forum, it is disgraceful and we all should be better than that, yes we can have our opinion and dont like some players and express that view, but not in a slanderous way.
I was always taught "if you cannot say it to their face, then dont say it"
I enjoy this forum for its support of our club and excellent discussion and good debate but lets not get to gutter level with some comments, imo

+ News Ltd are just trying to Crucify us in the Daily Telegraph, Courier Mail & Foxs Sports News (News Ltd is only for the Broncos & Storm) they are making the news and not reporting the news, so I dont believe that their is much fact in their articles.

I remember when DMAA was made illegal by some governing body. Overnight the best pre-workout supplement was outlawed. Fortunately there was a massive clearance sale while outlets tried to offload excess stock before the deadline.
