GOLD Coast Titans are confident a visa problem that has delayed the arrival of star wing Brian Carney has been resolved and are expecting the him at training next week.
Carney was a notable absentee from the Titans squad when training resumed this week, with rumours suggesting he wanted to remain in England and was looking for a way out of his two-year deal with the fledgling club.
Coach John Cartwright was quick to dismiss suggestions Carney was set to follow in the footsteps of Melbourne Storm wing Steve Turner, who has refused to honour his commitment to the Titans in a seemingly futile bid to remain in Victoria.
"Brian has been held up with a visa problem," Cartwright said.
"I think it has to do with the fact he has had three employers over the past 12 months. But we have spoken to the different government departments and everything looks to have been sorted out."
While Carney is likely to join the squad in the near future, the arrival of troubled rugby union recruit Mat Rogers is uncertain.
Cartwright and Titans chief executive Michael Searle are likely to seek a meeting with Rogers next week to clarify his plans.
Cartwright said the club would not put any pressure on Rogers, happy to give him time to sort out his personal life.
