    Default Campion leaves Warriors

The New Zealand Warriors are on the lookout for a new skills coach after the NRL club announced Kevin Campion would leave at the end of the year.

Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said family reasons were behind Campion's decision to return to Queensland.

"It's unexpected and we're disappointed to lose him but we respect Kevin's wishes," Scurrah said.

"He has done a tremendous job since returning to the club to join the coaching staff last year. He's held in such regard here."

Campion said he was sad to be leaving the club, which he also played for in 2001-2.

"I loved my time as a player with the Warriors and I've enjoyed the coaching experience as well but I need to go home," he said.

The 34-year-old returned to Ericsson Stadium last year to join former Warriors teammate Ivan Cleary on the club's coaching staff.

Cleary, who officially began his career as Warriors head coach, was sad to learn of Campion's departure.

"It caught me by surprise," he said.

"I was looking forward to working with him again but I understand why he had to make his decision."

Campion will continue in his role until the Warriors finish their pre-Christmas training program on December 16.

Cleary said he would consider a replacement in the coming weeks

I dare say you are good chance of being proven correct super cronk.

I would love there to be a outside chance we at the Titans can pick him up for 2007

Is he a good coach though?? Great player and dedicated to the extreme but is he coach material. The Warriors didnt excatly shine in the skills department this year.

Anyone know what he is like as a coach? I think he would be worth employing just for his attitude alone.

If he can't get a run with an NRL club, then expect to see him in QLD Cup
