Turner sticks with Storm

RENEGADE wing Steve Turner will resume training with Melbourne Storm after Christmas even though it is likely he will sit on the sideline next season.
As the messy tug-of-war for Turner's services drags on, Melbourne boss Brian Waldron revealed the 22-year-old was set to rejoin his Storm teammates on the training paddock after missing the first half of pre-season.
Waldron is adamant Turner will play for Storm, even though the bitter dispute with the Gold Coast Titans is no closer to being resolved.
Turner agreed to a three-year deal with the Titans in July before backflipping and signing a significantly richer contract with Storm.
Waldron said Turner was ignoring the possibility of watching from the stands and readying himself for another season in Melbourne.
"Until now we thought it was best he didn't train, but post-Christmas he will get back into some sort of work," he said.
"He's just tired of the whole thing and of course he's doing it tough. He doesn't understand why the Titans won't let him go, especially now they have Mat Rogers joining them a year early."
The Titans believe Rogers's return to league is irrelevant and have insisted they will only release Turner if Storm provide two contracted junior players and financial compensation.
Waldron slammed reports suggesting the Queensland-based players - back rower Kevin Proctor, 17, and fullback/wing Smith Samau, 20 - had declared they would be happy to join the Titans.
Waldron said he had spoken to Proctor, touring Great Britain with the Australian Schoolboys, and he had reiterated his commitment to Storm.
Titans managing director Michael Searle said the club would not budge on their stance, believing the conditions of their proposal to release Turner were fair.
