Use the Magic wand... it is so much better and give you nice clean cut images... I didn't know about it till a few months back... it is so much easier and quicker and will give you that professional result.
If you want to really get rid of the lines, either do the zoom in thing and detail it... or the cheats way, use the blur tool and blur the lines to create shadow... little trick there but it makes the picture look cool and quite professional... :lol!:
