NEW Penrith coach Matt Elliott has already designed and sent out his team's new training programs - and the players are impressed.
"I've just looked at some of our programs - they look completely different to last year," said Panthers halfback Craig Gower.
"I'm sure that will be a good thing for us.
"I haven't had too much to do with Matt but he'll bring some new and fresh ideas to the club."
Elliott this week attended a three-day course with Penrith management ? his first assignment as Panthers coach.
The former Raiders coach would not be drawn into predicting how far he could take Penrith next season.
"I really don't want to start measuring what we can do," Elliott said last night.
"My expectations are high but I want to get a feel about the expectations of the players. I want their feedback. A new coaching regime takes time."
Elliott agreed though he has the playing roster to make a genuine impact in 2007.
"Yeah mate. I am very fortunate to have inherited such a healthy playing roster, particularly at a club like Penrith with such a good culture," Elliott said.
"I like to get stimulated by a new challenge.
"There are still a few question marks though like replacing Preston Campbell.
"But it's really exciting. The whole thing has been a positive experience. Penrith has been very helpful. Any requests I have made for assistance, the constant answer has been yes. I have felt very welcomed."
Gower said he was looking forward to working with Elliott.
"Everyone I have spoken to are looking forward to getting back to training," Gower said.
"Matt did a great job at Canberra this year, getting them into the finals.
"He had them playing consistently in a team which was supposed to have had limited playing talent."
The Panthers, like many clubs, will commence pre-season training on November 6.
