Australia defeated New Zealand 30-18 in a spiteful opening Tri Nations encounter at Mt Smart Stadium.

Maitua was forced to pull out of the series with an ankle injury sustained in the Kangaroos' 30-18 win over the Kiwis last weekend.

Andrew Ryan moves into the Australian starting side, while Tupou will debut off the bench.

Australian forward Willie Mason has been ruled out of Saturday night's Tri Nations rugby league Test against New Zealand at Telstra Dome

Mark O'Meley will replace Mason in the Kangaroos' starting line-up on Saturday night, while Sam Thaiday has been promoted to make his international debut off the interchange bench.

    Kiwis

New Zealand rugby league coach Brian McClennan has made two changes to the team for Saturday's second Tri-Nations test against Australia in Melbourne.

Bradford wing Shontayne Hape replaces Tame Tupou, while South Sydney forward David Fa'alogo comes in for Frank Pritchard on the interchange bench.

Well the issue you have is that Motu Tony and Jason Cayless who played last night both got injured quite badly, especially Cayless and you might not get them back.

It should be a cracker though, I can't wait for next Saturday and its live...

Fight in the first game was awesome, but im hoping for a little more footy in this next one, though the kiwis need to fix this quick burnout problem of theirs.

Omg..when I woke up..went downstairs..the first thing my mum said to me was "Motu Tony and Jason Cayless both got injured this morning" i said "your ****ing kidding" but she wasnt.

*sigh* Was really looking forward to having them in the side.

Ooh next week will be a cracker..its a revenge game, :emp: , for both sides.
