The Dragons need a 5/8 IMO. Gasnier IS NOT a 5/8, he is a centre and a dam good one at that. And if Ben Hornby is moved to 5/8 next year, then we will need a fullback, as Greenshields has gone to ESL.

Gasnier moving to 5/8 is probly the stupidist thing ive ever heard, does he even have a kicking game?

They would just get him to run the ball every time...

Well since we have about 10 wingers signed i dont think thats a problem...probably 5/8 but ropati is still a young player, he can get much better.

The Broncos will never be able to replace Shane Webcke however im sure Ben Hannant will rise to the challenge.

But overall the Broncos are rather stocked.

    Good thread Grimmace...

I have to say unlike all the others over at The Kennel who are complaining about our Hooking opitions, I'm not. I would have loved to have had Robbie Farah, but he is gone now....

I think the key issue we have to deal with is ensuring we get a Premier League coach who teaches our boys to play smart and defend... the first grade side is one of the best in the league for defense, or PL side contains a lot of players who are great with the flair and the style, but are turnstiles in defense.... I still support them, but facts are facts.

The biggest issue we will have is finding a workhorse like Grimaldi, I mean he is a massive loss, bigger than Asotasi or Myles... Grimmers gave 100% every game and was a great leader too, finding someone to fill that hole is the biggest challenge for 2007.

I think the Bulldogs are stocked really well for the future in terms of depth, we have a second very decent kicker and backup Second Rower in Te Maari, we have a 2nd halfback in Roberts, we have ample centres now with Millard, depth in the front row and a decent backup wingers.

If I had to say we needed to fill one position it would be someone to help backup DJ in the 5/8th role, or a hooker.. but TBH, we are pretty good and the side has recuited well in 2007.

Sharks have a fair bit of depth for next season:

    Fullback/Wing/Centre:
Simmons, Albert, Covel, Hannay, Bott, Brown, Laisini, Pomeroy, Stephenson, Anderson and Taulapapa.

    Halves:
    Kimmorley, Dykes, Seymour and Kearney.

    Front/Second Row:
Ross, Douglas, Thomson, Bird, Gallen, Stapleton, Ciraldo, Cooper, Selmes, Greenfield, Villasanti and Williams.

Got Kingston in hooker but I'm sure Kearney and Seymour could pop in there. Sharks are also in talks with Aaron Gorrell at the moment so he could come and bolster the hooking ranks too.

So all in all, I'm pretty happy and don't think we need to fill any positions.

I agree, I mean the loss of Webcke is HUGE! Never be replaced, but we have alot of guys who can step up to the challenge, and with depth I think we are pretty good tbh. With teh improved form of Perry, even a halfback is not 100% urgent!

Great call, couldnt agree with you more. This Bulldog Titan guy really knows his league( especially anything relating to the MIGHTY BULLDOGS). When i first saw this post my immediate thoughts regarding the Dogs greatest loss went straight to Grimaldi. How do you replace a workhorse like him?As far as Hooker i don't see any real problem either. We still have both Hughes and Perry.Dont discount Ben Roberts, this future star could probably play in 3 or 4 different positions which would enable the dogs to shuffle their team around to cover for any weakness. As a Dogs supporter i can honestly say that we are definately looking good for a semi berth in 2007.Maybe 1 spot above the TITANS!!!

Manly - Backline. But especially in the backline in the Lower Grades. Some youngsters, preferably wingers is the aim I'd imagine.

Appreciation towards Bulldog_Titan311 for Manly-Titan banner.

In looking a little closer to home, I really think that we (the titans) are really skinny in the 5/8 department. Take out Preston, what other top quality halve can fill the spot??? I see this as causing real problems against the competition front runners.

And to take it a little further, what would happen if we lost Prince & Campbell???!!! I see the titans having great depth in the forwards & backs, but not much at all in the halves.....

Big Titan the club did sign Matt Hilder but you are right the club probablly needs one more solid signing in the halves department.
