Hey im kinda new to football can any one please tell me about it like the rules and who the best players are and things like that. sorry that i dont know that much about it. and i am supporting the titans next year! GO THEM /cheer

umm yer check the dally m page or soemthing, that shows who is was the best player in each position through out this year

the basic rules are 4 points for try
2 points for goal, 2 for penalty goal , 1 for field goal
each team gets 6 tackles
penalty for tackling above the collar are some general rules

penalty goal wat does that mean?

It means if a defensive player get penalised for doing something wrong normally.... and then the attacking team takes a shot at goal

These can include

- Tackling someone above the shoulders
- Trying to give a facial to a player in a tackle
- Trying to put a player in a semi headlock (known as a grapple tackle)
- Being inside the 10m or more simply infront of the ref before the attacking team, i.e the team with the ball has moved
- Holding a player down too long in a tackle
- Backchatting a referee
- Putting a player in a dangerous position, normally past 90 degrees in a tackle

AN ATTACKING team can be penalised though for

- Not standing behind the kicker when he kicks the ball downfield
- Not playing the ball correctly when getting up after a tackle to put the ball on the ground and use his feet to push it to the player behind
- Not getting up off the ground when doing the previous point
- Dissent against a ref or touchjudge
- Kicking out on the full, that is over the white sideline without it bouncing in the field of play.

Yeah, I've been a league fan for a few years but really had no idea leading up to this season so I decided to read up so I'd actually be able to know why things happen or exactly where some positions were on the field.

Mike, a penalty goal: Thats basically when the team kicks a goal when the other team is penalised. I'm sure someone else might be able to explain that better.

If you need anymore help, just post in this thread and we will try to help out as much as we can... the game is pretty simple once you get the rules down pact.

HOWEVER I can promise you come football game time, the rules get thrown out the window sometimes, its just a fact of the game that some rules change depending on who is officiating a match, what they have decided to crack down on, the home crowd and many other factors, as all here can attest to...

Sorry, im a little off topic but which refs listen to the crowds most??
Ive been to a couple of Dogs away games and the crowd are telling the ref what to do!! Sometimes they do and sometimes they go on their own judgment.
