    Broncos injured in fiery training
    July 24, 2006

BRISBANE forwards Shane Webcke and Brad Thorn have sustained facial injuries during an aggressive training session this morning.

Thorn had several teeth loosened and Webcke sustained a gashed cheek in a heavy head clash towards the end of the session.

Thorn was sent to see a dental specialist while Webcke had to cancel a media conference to have his face stitched.

Defensive coach Peter Ryan put the players through a punishing tackling session at Red Hill after the Cowboys exposed Brisbane's defence in and around the ruck during Saturday's 26-10 win.

Another defeat by defending premier Wests Tigers, at home next weekend, will have Brisbane's critics out in force to claim the side's recent run of late-season collapses has started again.

Geez... I know you lost the last game... but you don't need to revert to Western Suburbs Magpies Tactics of the late 1970's... FACE SLAPPING and GOUGING WENT OUT 15 YEARS AGO...

I think they'd be trying to see where they went wrong smart****.

By getting their forwards to fire up. Well not in that sense.

LOL glad I see I got a response... I knew a little friendly joking would get some.. c'mon my team has a bye this weekend, I don't have much else to do... oh besides adding to the long list of bye jokes....

Seriously though, hopefully they tackle better than last week, it was not impressive at all against the Cowboys and even though the Tigers are depleted.. they will come out firing because they want to keep their hopes alive... be prepared for a fierce Tigers pack...

We might just have the upper hand this weekend - from what reports i saw on fox sports active Hodgson's set to be ruled out for the season

i'm not saying that it was bennetts fault its not the training fault it all went down to the players there were some silly plays that a under 10s side make and we o

remember when we got thumped by the storm last year 50 - 4? we came back next week and put 54 points on parra and had a 12 game winning streak.

ITS JUST ONE GAME - ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.

Ryan did warn them that anymore than 16 points against them they would know about it.

I think it is a good decision, make them bleed, and know full well that if that crap happens again, they will bleed again.

At the end of the day it will make better players out of them, becuase they know full well, that now matter how well the oppistion foward pack is going, they cannot do as much pain to them as Ryan could do on Monday.

With Benji and Brett out i don't think the tigers have enough strike power. If Hodges and Tate can dominate in the centres then it will be a good night.

Reading the whold article on the NRL site about the training mishap was due to the broncos taking their frustrations out on each other, so i agree with BDT that this methods went out years ago, so what does bennett think he's doing?????????

Broncos get physical after Cowboys loss
    Tuesday, July 25, 2006 - 2:46 AM

Brisbane forwards Brad Thorn and Shane Webcke required treatment for facial injuries after the Broncos put on a "bash up" training session in the aftermath of their disappointing loss to the Cowboys.

Thorn left the Fulcher Road ground with blood gushing from his mouth to visit a dental specialist after loosening some teeth during an aggressive defensive drill where he and Webcke collided at top pace.

Defensive coach Peter Ryan had the tackle pads out and the players bashed each other as they took out their frustration from Saturday night's 26-10 loss to North Queensland

In 2003 they lost 10 of their final 11 matches; in 2004 they lost five of their last six matches, and last year they lost their final seven matches being six points clear on top of the ladder a month out from the finals
That was their slumps for the previous years.

This year so Far, they have lost 4 of thier last 6 games, with two in a row now. This year so far also only managing 4 wins in a row as their best, the Eels have managed 5 wins in a row at leats.

So i do think they will beat the Tigers and Warriors but the rest of their games this season to Storm, Bulldogs, Raiders and Paramatta(50/50) i think thet will lose, so this yearly form slump will continue.

Broncos are well aware of there previous season slumps, and i will be watching with interest to see how the rest of the year unfolds.

But Draqons supporters should be more concerned with there own Backyard, considering they have also lost there last 2 in a row. And have the Storm, Eels, Dogs, in there next 3 games, and are renowed for there choking ability come finals time. I mean i personaly would rather have 4 years of slumps, than 35 years of misery.

As we are both sitting on the same points, it will be interesting to see if either side is GF material.

    Seymour dropped
    by Scott Dickson
    Tuesday July 25, 2006

SHAUN Berrigan was today named as Ergon Energy Broncos halfback for Sunday?s clash against the Wests Tigers after youngster Brett Seymour was dropped to the Queensland Cup.

Broncos? regular no.7 Shane Perry is still battling a knee injury after undergoing surgery two weeks ago and is likely to return for next weekend?s away match against Canberra.

In Perry?s absence, a disappointing Seymour has failed to ease the playmaking pressure off five-eighth Darren Lockyer in the Broncos past two matches against the victorious Melbourne and North Queensland.

The 21-year-old will now line-up for feeder team Toowoomba in Sunday?s away match against Wynnum Manly at BMD Oval.

Rookie five-eighth/lock Joel Moon, 18, has been named on the bench as a back-up playmaker to Berrigan and part-time hooker Casey McGuire.

Remaining in the Clydesdales line-up is fiery Queensland Origin hero Sam Thaiday and fellow first-grade forward Ben Hannant who were dropped from the Broncos side last week.

Neville Costigan has been named 18th man on an extended five-man bench, a reward for his standout performance for Toowoomba?s in last Saturday?s 34-16 loss to Redcliffe.

Despite being named, giant second-rower Brad Thorn remains in doubt after smashing his two front teeth in a head clash with prop Shane Webcke during defensive training yesterday.
    broncos team is

    Broncos:
    1. Darius Boyd
    2. Tame Tupou
    3. Justin Hodges
    4. Brent Tate
    5. Scott Minto
    6. Darren Lockyer (c)
    7. Shaun Berrigan
    8. Shane Webcke
    9. Casey McGuire
    10. Petero Civoniceva
    11. David Stagg
    12. Brad Thorn
    13. Tonie Carroll

    Interchange:
    14. Corey Parker
    15. Dane Carlaw
    16. Greg Eastwood
    17. Joel Moon 18. Neville Costigan (one to be omitted)
