I think it's a very realistic option for the Titans. Because apparently he's hating it at the Roosters and given his performances of late, he doesn't command a great amount of money.

As Ian Turpie and Larry Emdur have espoused all these years - "If the price is right!"

Wing would be an excellent starting hooker/utility player for the Titans but I definitely wouldn't be paying overs for him.

Geese are the ultimate team players.
They honk to encourage one another!

Default wing would look good in aqua and gold

wing would be great in the 9 - a much better signing than nathan friend - who doesnt really offer much versatility or ball playing skills

I'd say have a go at signing him. If he is fair dinkum about reserecting his career, a pay cut and move away from bondi junction could just be the tonic. You'll never know unless an offer is tabled.

i reckon wing would play much better elsewhere, but i also believe that nathan friend can do just as well a job. he is not needed in the halves and there for would be a big waste of money. sign someone like greg bird or brenton bowen, someone thats not a very highly paid player but has the ability to fit in and dominate in a new team.

Wing is a strong and quick player but I'm not a fan of him in the Hooking role.
I think he is a specialist utility player and utility players are great for rep games, basic pattern and easy to fill in.

I think every club develops a utility player during the season and I don't think Wing is worth spending the money on.

I don't think he's beyond his best. Definately not in the best form of his career, but he could definately peak again.. maybe a change of environment is just the kick up the bum his career needs.

i can't really turn down a player of his class.

Seems logical with the Panthers losing Preston so Wing could play in the #6 jersey. But that's dependant as well on today's other rumour that Lewis is interested in moving there permanently from next year (was in this week's Big League)...

    Fox sports

SYDNEY Roosters utility Craig Wing has been linked with a $250,000 switch to Penrith next season if the Bondi Junction club is prepared to release him.

The Saturday Daily Telegraph understands the Panthers want Wing to play five-eighth after missing out on Jamie Lyon but the move hinges on whether the Roosters will let him go.

The Australia and New South Wales Origin star is under contract at Bondi Junction until the end of 2007, but he has been the subject of enormous speculation about the Roosters looking to release him for much of this year.

Panthers general manager Mick Leary last night refused to confirm or deny the 2003 premier was interested in Wing.

And Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan was adamant Wing remained "under contract until 2007".

"That's news to me - I can't help you," Leary said.

"We're sitting back having a look at all our options at the moment.

"We've got no firm offers out to anyone at the moment so it's all hypothetical.

"There's a lot of players that we're interested in but I'm not confirming or denying whether we're interested in any high-profile player."

A decision on Wing's future may become clearer after Roosters chairman Nick Politis returns from holidaying with family in Honolulu.

The Roosters may consider releasing Wing provided a rival club is willing to pick up his entire $250,000 a season salary.

Roosters chief Canavan last night said neither Penrith nor any other NRL club had telephoned to inquire about a possible release for Wing.

"There's been no call at all from his manager or any other club and the overriding fact is he's on contract next year," Canavan said.

"It's just one of those things where we're just looking for any angle we possibly can to turn our season around."
