WIZARD Cup fans will get their first look at one of the most talked-about juniors in Queensland this Saturday, with Chris Sandow set to debut for the Souths Logan Magpies live on ABC TV.

After scoring two tries for Queensland Under 17 last week - including a scorcher over 70m - Sandow has been named at halfback for the Magpies against the Ipswich Jets.

The Marsden State High student will partner five-eighth Phil Dennis, himself an exciting indigenous talent who shone at schoolboy level.

Sandow has already been signed to the Gold Coast Titans and has previously been compared to a young Matt Bowen.

Presently Souths Logan is in seventh place on the Wizard Cup ladder, needing a win to keep pace with the top five.

Ipswich will be out to regain dignity after a 70-10 humbling at the hands of Toowoomba last week.

Coach Trevor Gillmeister has swung the selection axe, with the likes of Ricky Dodd, Mananui Te Heu Heu and Tyson Lofipo gaining an opportunity at the top level.
