Default State Of Origin: Kiwi Style.

    Interesting concept;

Kiwis Set To Face Off For Tri-Series Spots

    08/06/2006
    Marcus Forbes
The Kiwis could face a State of Origin style trial at the end of this season.

New Zealand Rugby League chairman Sel Bennett told XtraMSN there was the potential that Kiwis playing in the NRL and Super League competitions will play each other in October.

"We're looking at a window of opportunity on October 7," Bennett said.

"It's a week after the NRL grand final but a week before the Super League grand final in Great Britain.

"There's no football on at all, we're not committed to the Tri-Series until the following week.

"We're looking to bring a Northern Kiwis side down to play an NRL Kiwis side."

Bennett said talks had already begun to find a venue for the game.

"We're talking to several stadiums - Hamilton being one and Palmerston North - about hosting this game.

"Our Tri-Series team would come out of that game."

Meanwhile next season's re-creation of the All Golds tour looks set to be finalised by the end of the month.

"It will be finalised when we go to England," Bennett said.

"At the moment it looks like we'll play a warm-up against Cumbria, a game against Northern Union and then we have a three test series against England in preparation for the world cup

Good idea from kiwi land, a stronger team from NZ will only benefit the game.

Bulldogs probably didn't want to release him..

probably cos he is playing in centres at moment, and bulldogs don't have any spare at present. not many nrl players were released

(but this thread is about teh superleague qiwi's versing teh nrl qiwi's at the end of the year..not the test match coming up)

Things are looking good for not only NZRL but also Intl. RL. NZ will be much better off if they are able to get this happening

it's been a long time coming. I thought they needed something like this for many a year but I didn't think it would come in until the NRL had more Kiwi teams and the could have Nth Island vs Sth Island rather then ESL kiwis vs NRL kiwis.

But a Nth Island vs Sth Island game would be after they have a team representing the south.
