[QUOTE=Hail Sezer;446875]They're selective because if you're looking at the negative of the process, you also need to look at the positive - and I think at the end of the day, JC's development has been a net positive given how he performed last year. That process was necessary to get him to where he is now. Keep in mind these things you're talking about, which I think did get exaggerated at the time, are from 2021 and maybe 2022. Back to KK - there will not be a point where Keano plays so well in Qcup week to week that he's suddenly NRL ready, that's just not how it works. And if that line did exist, I'd say most people would say he crossed it last year anyway.

It's a good discussion point and it does make me think - how nice would a competition that better bridges Qcup and NRL be? Hmmm

    - - - Updated - - -

Considering how the NSW VS QLD National Club champions have panned out over the last 8 years with QLD teams getting mostly thumped, I would suggest that there is a closer bridge between NRL and the NSW clubs competition than there is between NRL and QCup competition.

Probably should now be in the transition thread now but couldn’t agree more.

QLD teams have two weeks off which seems like a big thing at the end of the year after you've won a premiership, It'd be very hard to get up for that game being into your off season and I reckon teams treat it as a get away.

It feels weird that from the looks of it basically everyone has kept their spot besides the AJ move. I'm happy to see them get a crack but I have some concerns about the team having some of the same issues with field position. Tino is probably the only great defender in the team with everyone else being average at best so if Des can't fix that I don't know why we'd expect changes.

The positive from the game was there's clearly been a lot of work done in the ptb on both sides of the ball where we were a second quicker at 2.9 which was the quickest from the trials by .2s I think, 12 of the Eels that were killer offloads came from tackles by Moe (4), Randall (4) and Verrills (3) which says to me that only two of them can be on the field at max which would put Moe on the bench for me to start games with one of the other two.

I really liked what I saw from Tino at lock, Liked him running wider and not at the big fellas as much, Issue is Keenan and to a lesser extent Moe decided not get of the bus which won't happen again you would hope (ehh) so he had to play for the other 2 just getting us out of our end, His pass to set up the first try was good as well, Put it in the perfect spot for Boyd + he attracted 3 defenders which is a difference to the other locks we have.

Comes back to our back line, With a year of film on them I think there going to be even worse at getting us out of trouble. A lot Sami's good moments came off kick returns and I think teams will just go to Lofi and Kini now and line them up. I'm very keen on Francis to be on a wing.

That's without even getting into the halves situation which is looking a bit dodgy right now.

Qld teams are also qld teams with a few nrl players

NSW cup teams are often stacked with development players for a particular club

Thanks for the effort to find those offload stats Cowa, imagine you would've had to go back and torture yourself/re-watch it so much appreciated

Context like that to defensive plays is waaay more valuable than just tackles made/missed. Wish NRL.com recorded it as well as tackles won/dominant tackle/tackle lost etc. But then NRL Guru wouldn't have anything to quickly google when he's giving his *analysis*

Of all the crap players we've had to endure in the last 2 years I find it hilarious we are nit picking Campbell and Kini. Two guys who are miles more talented and offer a ton more than some of the other nuffies that have got a golden run in the team previously.

They are both the least of our problems.

Even out of those offloads, About 3 or 4 of them were due to those two making up for someones bad defence or it was just a hail mary.

It feels rough due to the return but Fermor is a worry for me because everything in defence was so off the pace in the 4 tries he was heavily involved in, He makes the wrong read constantly during the game on top of that his footwork is absolutely shocking. The offloads were made to look a lot worse because every time it they would get it to Moses to do his work and he did it every time.

Going to be a hot take around here but Tannahs game wasn't that bad besides the kicks in fact it was pretty good, Should of had 2 try assists and had more good reads on defence then bad. If Weaver had thrown the pass to AJ who blew the try everyone would be creaming their pants. He showed more playmaking then we've seen from him before.

Randalls arm could've been so bad.

The NSW cup teams are their actual reserve grade players including players 18 to 30 in their roster. This consolidates the playing strength into the one side where the QCup teams have their players 18 to 39 spread across 2 and 3 teams thereby diluting the strength of the team and subsequently the comp. There are others reasons why the NSW Cup IMO is stronger and this is evidence in the disparity the scores but this is the main reason

The night was good but no new insights that we don’t already know except for the fact that Preston Campbell has been awarded the first Life membership of the Titans. Congratulations Preston

Also if I heard it right that the the Pouniu family are moving to the Gold Coast in appreciation of the clubs support of Joseph which has raised $1.2 million for Joseph and that Des is lining up a job for him which sounded football related. Makes you proud being a Titans member
