What concerns me is that Tino’s manager said “It’s correct that Tino has a clause in his contract relating to Justin. He is a free agent”
So maybe they don’t even need to “activate” it and he already is a free agent now. Just a very annoying situation that we’ve found ourselves in.

Lets hope Dessie will get on the phone asap to Tino and Dave. This story will only become bigger after origin.
A few clubs out there with significant space in their salary cap for 2024.
Its sounds like their managers are going to play this out slowly

The article also mentions that Tino is also very close to Mal and Ezra..

What's the latest on Mal's stance toward it all? I saw someone mention he retracted his comments re Holbrook but didn't see where/when that was

Des has talked to both of them already.

Fa’asuamaleaui is also a huge supporter of Titans senior consultant Mal Meninga, the NRL Immortal who helped lure him from Melbourne, and recruitment chief Ezra Howe.
Are they not still part of the club going forward? Mal seems on board again from recent comments and just a bit shocked like the rest of us were, Didn't help he did a radio show about 10 mins after it happened, It was bad timing for his comments but by the Saturday he had taken them back.

Tinos loyal and you could see he ignored Mitchell in the sheds before the Broncos game but time will heal all wounds, Surely he's not more loyal to Holbrook then the club and the playing group, That'd be a first that I can remember.

To be fair the managers comments aren't to bad? His job at the end of the day to field offers and see what's out there but he seems pretty positive all things considered. Sounds like there might be a Des tax at worst.

I blame the club for even letting them have that clause especially Fifita considering where Holbrooks standing was at the club already. I'd love to have seen Des reaction to this, YOU IDIOTS DIDNT TELL ME THIS PART OF THE SITUATION.

There's also not one team mentioned in the article, Badel might the worst journalist in the world at anything.

I think it was on Fox during Super Saturday the weekend after Holbrook sacking. In the interview he back tracked on his previous comments.

I was no great supporter of Holbrooks stuttering tenure as coach but held some level of hope based on our roster. If we lose either of our best players then I’m done with the Club. Not because of sour-grapes Holbrook who I believe leaked all this to begin with but because of the inability of the Club to balance its attention to detail. The members and fans deserve better. Waiting and hoping …. but it now seems a case of the lunatics running the asylum.

Was it just a throwaway line or did it appear he genuinely was upset by all the talk of him leaving and he was setting the story straight?

Not as convincing as I would have liked. Why’s it up to your manager and your parents and your partner mate, you’re the one playing for the club. Would hope the captain would say something more reassuring than that.

I mean his wife looked very happy at the cultural event and his parents apparently help with recruitment with the parents. Des will charm them, All this will be fine.

We've got both missus's locked down and a brother, Wouldn't surprise me if they have clauses though hahahha. Both of these guys roots are heavy in the club/coast now, Unless they are really that upset about Holbrook which I just can't imagine them uplifting their whole entire families including parents and everyone else.

At the Titans Cocktail night last Wednesday DF was interviewed and I can’t recall the exact question but his answer was pretty much “I love being here, I am happy, my parents are happy and if my parents are happy, again I am happy.”

If anyone was to take up this clause, I would think it would be Tino as he was ‘rested’ for the Broncos and did not attend the Cocktail night. Possibly sulking just a little. IMO I don’t think he will be Captain next season as Des may see him as a hot head. This may also come into Tino’s calculations.
