Default Titans to donate more than $100,000 to flood recovery

Titans to donate more than 100 thousand to flood recovery
    https://www.titans.com.au/news/2022/...lood-recovery/

The Gold Coast Titans will donate over $100,000 to assist with flood recovery efforts across Southeast Queensland and the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

    The Titans will support:

    1. Grassroots recovery via the NRL’s relief fund that will support rugby league clubs in our region

    2. Those in areas of need, by supporting relief efforts over coming weeks and months

    3. Small businesses via BizRebuild to re-ignite and stimulate the local economy

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell says the NRL club wants to ensure funds reach those who need it most to ensure they can get back on their feet after facing a devastating start to 2022.

“Our purpose is to make our communities proud. Many of these communities are now in dire need of our support,” Mitchell said.

“As the weather deteriorated over the weekend and started impacting our communities, we decided to postpone our 2022 Season Launch.

“Our trial match against the Warriors was subsequently cancelled to ensure the safety of those involved.

“Now in response to the full extent of devastation being experienced by the communities between Logan to Lismore, we have decided to cancel the event and re-direct the funds to those in their time of need.

“The best way for us to kick start our 2022 season is by helping those who support us.

“We’ll instead be contributing $50,000 into the NRL’s relief fund which will go towards assisting grassroots footy clubs that have been hit hard.

“Our season will begin next week, but it is vitally important to us that the boys and girls within our communities are able to get back to the game that they love as well.

“This funding will hopefully help replace the equipment that has been washed away, the clean-up for fields covered in mud and help to re-build the clubhouses that have been damaged.”

The Titans are hoping a huge crowd will turn out to see the club’s first home fixture on Saturday 19th March, with the Coast’s NRLW side hosting the Brisbane Broncos and the NRL squad to play the New Zealand Warriors.

“Together, with our partners at Cbus Super Stadium, we will be donating $10 from every ticket sold to that match to further support recovery efforts,” Mitchell said.

“We’ve said we’ll be putting in over $100,000, but that number will rise even further if we have a packed house for our first home game this season.

“We’ll work with those in the areas hardest hit to ensure the money reaches those in need to help people get back on their feet.

“We’re also going to direct half of the funds raised to BizRebuild to help support our local businesses that have been impacted with practical assistance.

“We know once the water disappears, the recovery continues, and we want to make sure we’re continuing to support where we can across our region.”

So very generous, maybe player and club fines should all end up donations from the NRL for worthy causes.

Couldn't agree more ... I've never understood why it goes back into consolidated revenue.

Village Roadshow back Titans flood recovery initiative
    https://www.titans.com.au/news/2022/...ry-initiative/

$20 from every ticket sold at the Titans first home game of 2022 will go towards flood recovery.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks have announced that they will match the Titans dollar for dollar to help raise further funds for flood recovery efforts.

With communities from Logan to Lismore impacted by the severe weather event, the Titans have announced that the club will donate over $100,000 to help people get back on their feet.

As part of this, the club will donate $10 from every ticket sold for the fixture on March 19th at Cbus Super Stadium.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks have announced they will match that amount, meaning $20 from every ticket sold will now be sent to flood recovery.

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell says it is a huge show of support from the club's partner and will go mean the fundraising tally could now double.

"If we put all the components together, depending on the crowd on the night, I think collectively we will now be over $200,000 raised," Mitchell said.

"I really want to thank our partners in Village Roadshow Theme Parks.

"It's quite extraordinary from an organisation that has had two very disruptive years, as everyone has, with COVID and they've also been effected by the flooding but now they've decided to partner with us.

"This is an exciting program and something we can do fairly quickly to make sure that the relief gets there in time."

Village Roadshow CEO Clark Kirby says his organisation was quick to jump on board and join the Titans in helping those in need.

"Our whole Village Roadshow family have been left saddened by the devastating floods that have ravished South East Queensland and the Northern Rivers," he said.

"Our Australian Outback Spectacular team executed a daring rescue of over 23 horses in the Ballina region last week and we were able to see the devastation first hand.

"It gives me great pleasure to stand be standing with our partners at the Titans (on this initiative)."

With both the NRL and NRLW sides in action, the Titans CEO says the first home game will be a must-watch fixture.

"Get to the game, it is March 19, our NRLW side plays the Broncos so that's the first local derby and then our men will play the Warriors."

$16,000 raised as JC chops ratty for flood relief
    https://www.titans.com.au/news/2022/...-flood-relief/

It's gone... JC's iconic rattail is no more!

Gold Coast Titans fullback Jayden Campbell has had his iconic hairstyle chopped for charity... raising over $16,000 for the club's flood relief scheme.

Initially choosing to get the snip to benefit the Titans' Deadly Futures program when first announced in early February, the youngster thought it was only right to divert the funds to those in need in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales after the devastating floods caused widespread damage to a number of communities within the club's footprint.

"Instead of the money going to Titans Together and the Deadly Futures program, we're going to donate it towards the flood relief," Campbell said.

"I know a lot of boys and a lot of staff in the club have family down that way who have been affected, and a lot of the Future Titans boys are Northern Rivers lads, so it'll be good to give it to them."

The young No. 1 is fully aware of the dire situation in Northern New South Wales. Although from Tingha - a small town west of the disaster zone - he has family who have been impacted by the devastating disaster.

"It's really sad. I've got some family that live in Lismore as well and a lot of boys have been affected," Campbell said.

"It's not a really good situation."

With the Titans recently committing $100,000 to help the flood recovery for grassroots rugby league clubs, those in areas of need and small businesses, it's the immense care for the community that inspires the Gold Coast junior to wear the blue and gold with pride.

"What we're doing makes me proud to be a part of this club. I know a lot of the other boys feel the same way," Campbell said.

"We're not just a club full of footy players. We love getting out and helping the community as well."

Losing the ratty after growing and maintaining it for two years was bittersweet for the 22-year-old, but his family will be pleased with his fresh new hairstyle when he gets home from training.

"I'm sad to see it go, but my missus isn't and my mum and dad aren't," Campbell said.

"But you know... it was getting a little annoying to have to take it out, wash it and then re-plat it, so it's bittersweet."

Titans coach Justin Holbrook was also happy to see the iconic length of hair gone.

"I am glad to see it go," Holbrook joked.

"I think it's a great cause and I would've been happy if it came off no matter what, but the fact we are raising money for charity makes it even better.

"Hopefully it makes JC a little bit more elusive now that he won't have that little bit they could grab hold of."

Be there at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday, March 19 for the Gold Coast Titans' first home game of the year. A double header with the NRL and NRLW Titans in action. $20 from every ticket goes directly to the club's flood recovery initiative.

Meninga, Titans rally behind flood recovery efforts
    https://www.titans.com.au/news/2022/...overy-efforts/

Gold Coast Titans CEO Steve Mitchell has joined Mal Meninga on the Paul Murray show to discuss the support that the club and wider game is providing for those in need after the recent flood events.

NRL Immortal and Titans Senior High Performance Advisor, Meninga, spoke of how impactful his time on the ground has been.

WATCH: NRL Immortal, Mal Meninga and Titans CEO Steve Mitchell on the Paul Murray Show.

"You walk away from those communities wanting to do more," he said.

Having been personally affected by the Brisbane floods of 2011, Meninga knows how hard it can be and how it can bring a community together.

“It can galvanise a community, the spirit of everyone is there to support you and help you get through it,” he said.

CEO, Mitchell expanded on how the Titans club has gotten behind the rebuild by moving funds intended for the Club's Season Launch and donating a portion of ticket sales at the first home game of the year.

"This is our heartland and one of our major communities," Mitchell said.

"We moved fairly quickly. We cancelled our Season Launch and we moved the cost base of that across to a fund that will help the junior participation piece.

"Then for our home game last week, $10 from every ticket sold to the Warriors game went to the flood appeal and that will come through BizRebuild.

"Speaking to business people here tonight their situation is just so dire, so BizRebuild will help them get back on their feet.

"And also, GIVIT, is a charity that will help Mums and Dads at home, which we will also contribute to.

"We had Village Roadshow Theme Parks join the ticket donation effort also, so the sum total went to $20 per ticket on that program."
