Tough game first up, will be interesting to see how the new combinations gel early in the season.

We did pretty well that we only place the Panthers, Storm, Rabbitohs and Roosters once. The other two teams we play only once are the Tigers and Bulldogs.

Titans '22 NRL draw to bring the energy to Cbus Super Stadium
    https://www.titans.com.au/news/2021/...super-stadium/

The NRL has today announced the NRL and NRLW draws for season 2022.

Cbus Super Stadium is going to come alight next season with the first appearance of the Titans NRLW side at home to be played ahead of the Titans NRL opener against the New Zealand Warriors.

Feel the Energy live at Cbus Super Stadium in 2022 and become a Member!

The hits keep coming with the Eels on a Saturday night in Round 5, Premiers the Panthers in Round 8 and an all Queensland affair against the Cowboys in Round 13 on a Thursday night.

Round 14 sees the Bunnies come back to Cbus in a replay in one of the games of the year this season just gone, while the all important Maca's Local Derby is scheduled for Round 18 in the prime time Saturday 7:30pm slot and you just know every Titans and Broncos fan will circle this one in their diary.

The run home will see the Titans take on the Raiders, Sea Eagles and Knights at Cbus Super Stadium before hopefully entering successive final series. See the full NRL draw here.

For the women's team they will open the season two weeks prior with consecutive triple-headers in New South Wales before coming back to the Gold Coast in Round 4 (Round 2 NRL) where they will play in front of a home crowd for the first time.

And to add to the drama of a first home game it will also be the Macca's Local Derby against rivals the Brisbane Broncos, which is sure to whet fans' appetite.

    NRL Draw Lowdown

    Teams the Titans play twice
Sea Eagles, Eels, Knights, Sharks, Raiders, Dragons, Warriors, Broncos, Cowboys..

    Teams the Titans play once
Storm, Panthers, Rabbitohs, Roosters, Wests Tigers, Bulldogs.

    Opening month
An up and down opening month for the Titans features a tough season-opener against the Eels at CommBank Stadium plus a trip to Canberra in round three, alternating with very winnable home games against the Warriors and Wests Tigers in rounds two and four.

    Toughest stretch
Starting with the Parramatta return bout in round five, the Titans come up against four of last year's top six in a five-week period with the Eels (home), Sea Eagles (away), Cowboys (away), Panthers (home) and Roosters (in Mackay) throwing up a tricky patch leading into the rep period.

    Make it count
The Titans have dodged repeat games against most of last season's heavyweights, meaning their draw outside of the above patch is not too threatening on paper. The club has two separate three-game bursts towards the end of the year in which they should be targeting three straight wins. Against the Broncos, Bulldogs and Raiders from rounds 18 to 20 then against the Dragons, Knights and Warriors in the final three weeks of the season.

    Storyline to watch
Jayden Campbell made a massive impression in his seven appearances in 2021 and with a new-look halves pairing likely following the departures of Ash Taylor, Jamal Fogarty and Tyrone Peachey, how well the spine can combine during the pre-season will impact how the likes of David Fifita are brought into the game in 2022. After a heart-breaking exit during the finals in 2021, the Titans will want to ensure it’s not a one-off experience.

Well I should at least get to three home games in 2022. Including the Broncos at Robina.

I like that in that in the last couple of years I look at the match ups and there are more and more that are winnable on paper.

Gold Coast Titans handed perfect draw to build on 2021 finals push
    https://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/nrl/

After breaking a five-year finals drought this year under coach Justin Holbrook, the Titans have few excuses not to finish in next season’s top eight after receiving a ‘great draw’ for 2022.

Gold Coast Titans have been given a saloon passage to secure back-to-back finals appearances after being handed the draw of dreams by the NRL for 2022.

The Titans were celebrating the release of next year’s season schedule on Tuesday which has given them a golden opportunity to make consecutive play-offs appearances.

After breaking a five-year finals drought this year by finishing eighth under coach Justin Holbrook, the Titans have few excuses not to finish in next season’s top eight.

The only 2021 top eight teams they will face twice in 2022 are the Sea Eagles, Eels and Knights.

That means the Titans will not have to play powerhouse clubs the Panthers, Storm, Rabbitohs and Roosters twice.

In contrast, the Brisbane Broncos, who finished 14th last season and claimed the wooden spoon in 2020, have to face the Storm, Rabbitohs, Roosters, Eels and Knights twice in 2022.

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell said the club was happy with the draw they had been handed.

“It’s a great draw, we’re thrilled with the outcome,” he said.

“We’ve got some really great match-ups in good time zones.

“We’ve got an extra free-to-air game which takes us to seven for the regular season. Our NRLW side has got four Channel 9 games in their schedule which is phenomenal for their exposure.

“The way Justin has got the team playing, it’s an entertaining style and the audiences are showing that. The broadcasters are rewarding us.

“With that comes an expectation. People want to see us win. We’re happy with that, that’s where we want to be.”

The Titans will kick off their 2022 campaign against the Eels in Parramatta before hosting the Warriors at Cbus Super Stadium in Round 2, where their NRLW side will play the Broncos.

The Eels are the only 2021 top eight team they face in the opening four rounds, with games against the Warriors, Raiders and Tigers giving the Titans an opportunity to start the season well.

The Titans will host defending premiers Penrith in Round 8 – their only game against this year’s champions – before facing the Roosters in Mackay.

They will come up against the Dragons in Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium and face the Broncos in Round 12 (Suncorp) and Round 18 (Cbus) – either side of the State of Origin series.

The Titans will head to New Zealand to face the Warriors in the final round of the regular season.

Mitchell said the club’s Round 2 match-up against the Warriors would be a highlight on the home game calendar.

“The Warriors is going to be hard to top,” he said.

“We get such a big contingency of Kiwi supporters that come to that game.

“We’ve had a great year from an audience point of view. We’ve had more audience growth than any franchise in the country.

“To top that next year will take some work but getting an extra free-to-air game helps.”

NRL Blockbuster Returns To The Coffs Coast – Sharks V Titans
    https://www.newsofthearea.com.au/nrl...v-titans-82039

NRL ACTION will return to the C.ex Coffs International Stadium on Saturday 18 June when the Cronulla Sharks take on the Gold Coast Titans.

The game is a repeat of last season’s fixture, where a full house lapped up a thrilling seven try match.

In the last fixture, Brain Kelly opened the scoring for the Titans but that sent the Sharks into a feeding frenzy as they chewed up the Titans defence with six unanswered tries to romp home 38-10.

David Fifita was a crowd favourite and the 107kg, 21-year-old will be looking to continue his 2021 form of 17 tries from 22 appearances into 2022.

Jayden Campbell was part of the training squad that visited Coffs and has since burst onto the scene scoring five tries in seven matches with his electric pace.

New Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon has strengthened the squad with the addition of Melbourne Storm fullback Nicho Hynes and there’s big hometown interest from Shark’s new signing Locky Miller from Coffs Harbour.

The former Sawtell Panthers captain and SCU Marlins half-back signed a two year deal with the Sharks in September after he returned from the Tokyo Olympics where he scored three tries for Australia in the Rugby 7s.

Last year’s event wasn’t just a rugby match, it was a carnival of footy fever that swept the region and it started at Orara High School where the Sharks captain Wade Graham and teammates Will Chambers and Shaun Johnson greeted students, held a Q&A session and gifted a new trailer to the school courtesy of their major sponsor Aramex.

Match day had something for everyone with NRL inflatables for the kids, musicians entertained the crowd, a traditional Smoking Ceremony acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land, team mascots engaging the crowd, flamethrowers and Sharks cheerleaders.

The game didn’t disappoint with an attacking brand of end to end football and a post match celebration where the players acknowledged the crowd on a lap of honour and fans took selfies.

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said he was proud C.ex Coffs International Stadium would again play host to the Sharks and Titans.

“We’re expecting bumper crowds will flock to the Stadium for the Round 15 game set down for Saturday, 18 June, at 3pm.

“Holding an NRL premiership fixture in Coffs Harbour for the first time this year was truly something special.

“I’m delighted we are able to continue to deliver for sports fans on the Coffs Coast and beyond in 2022,” said Mr Singh.

Good game for our club too. A cynic would point out that Kelly is jabless.
