It’s slim pickings at the moment in off contract players, but i would like to see titans pick up-

Sam Verrills - has had some injury issues, but good service out of dummy half and can pose a threat taking on lazy markers. Not off contract but will be keen to explore options with Roosters signing Brandon Smith

Mitchell Dunn - former 5/8 previously from GC, who could be a ball playing middle we desperately need. Coming off ACL injury but has some players ahead of him in back row at Cowboys

    Pack could look like

    Tino
    Verrills
    Mo
    Fermor
    Fifita
    Dunn

Doubtful as he has that role at 9, but he's assisting slater with the maroons so he might he open to doing a couple days at the club if somehow slater landed here

Supposedly we’ve sacked high performance manager Klint Hoare immediately.

    TITANS SACKING MAKES HOLBROOK NERVOUS

The Gold Coast Titans have quietly said goodbye to high performance manager Klint Hoare – who was a very close ally of head coach Justin Holbrook.

The Titans have been one of the biggest disappointments of 2022 with the move viewed as a warning shot that everyone at the club is under pressure.

The 13th Immortal Mal Meninga has also been spotted making weekly trips from Canberra to the Gold Coast to spend more time hands-on with Holbrook.

The Gold Coast are currently sitting last on the NRL ladder with only three wins from 15 games.

In fairness the Titans have been missing $1.2 million man David Fifita for six games and young gun fullback Jayden Campbell has only managed seven NRL appearances but it’s impossible to overlook how poor they’ve been.

There was genuine reason for optimism on the Gold Coast after they went within one pass of making it through to week two of the finals last year but what can go wrong, has gone wrong.

It was clearly a recruitment mistake letting captain Jamal Fogarty leave to join the Canberra Raiders.

Fifita will be back for the Titans round 16 match with the Knights in Newcastle but there’s no question the departure of Titans high performance manager Hoare has put everyone on notice.

WD called this about 12 months ago. Feel for Klint who seems like a great bloke but anyone watching can tell the team isn’t conditioned well enough.

    Who’s next?

Ezra Howe, Holbrook, Meninga and Dymock please. There's a lot of rot and deadwood left to cull yet.

    TITANS

    Available roster spots: 3

What they need: A half, a utility, a hooker and a prop

Who they could target: Jake Turpin, Lachlan Lam and Matt Lodge

Erin Clark hasn’t been as convincing as Titans bosses would have liked in the No.9 after being handed the reigns to start the season.

Tanah Boyd is sitting in the wings, but Gold Coast powerbrokers could be looking for a permanent replacement.

Jake Turpin could be the man to spark change in the Titans squad for the back-end of 2022, already having one foot out the door at the Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Titans have struggled to lock down a halves partnership and Lachlan Lam could be a good option, giving him long-term first team football.

Lam has been plying his trade in reserve grade with the North Sydney Bears, but has proven his ability in first grade in the past.

The 24-year-old can run the ball and also has a strong kicking game to pair young gun Toby Sexton.

The Titans are desperate for some go-forward with skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui currently shouldering much of the burden.

To kickstart the back end of the 2022 season, Lodge could be an injection of power and size in the middle of the park.

The Warriors prop would also likely be willing to sign a deal for the remainder of 2022 should the Gold Coast side be able to afford his nominal salary.

Paul Vaughan off to Warrington. Really surprised he couldn’t get another NRL gig. I’ve always rated him and I think he could’ve added a lot to our pack.

A small positive: I saw in the NRL signings tracker that Lisone’s final year in 2024 is club option, so we effectively only have him for one more year.

The heat is really on. But it'll be a measured boil over the coming months and I think that is the way to do it.

I'm always sympathetic for anyone losing their jobs. NRL is a tough business that's for sure.

Shows that the club is recognising that changes need to be made.
The NRL is child's play when compared to the US sports, it is brutal over there. The NRL players and staff are, for the most part, reasonably secure in their jobs in comparison.
