Don't like to be critical after a win, but when was the last time Don 'went for it' like a normal winger?
Funny to see Carty in the Drongoes box. I didn't know he'd gone there.

Our halves are the biggest issue that could keep us out of the eight. I'll back Holbrook to get the combinations right by the end of the year but as much as I love Fogarty he's abit like a poor man's Cooper Cronk lacks alot of creativity just passed to Proctor and puts up bombs I know he does alot of organising and maybe it's ashs fault to that he's not doing enough creating plays and runnit the team as well we just look abit lost and it shows with none of our halves having try assists we struggle to take advantage of any momentum our big pack creates but it is round 2 so hopefully we'll improve as the games go on. Either way love how the team got up for the Broncos game Really wanted to smash them and show were not the little brother any more

Drongoe media and Drongoes fans are in meltdown today. It’s just beautiful.

Where’s CowardBill and a_coward???? AKA DrongoeBill and a_guest
Front up and face the music
I think teke should front up too while we are at it, he’d have been very vocal last night if the Drongoes won and Mead got a meat pie or two.

We won a game that we should win. Thats the first step to being a legimate contender. Loved what I saw out of Thompson he was outstanding. Our forward pack was pretty good, liked what I saw out of tino with some of those hits, we havent had a big hitter since Bird left. Like others though there were a few issues we really need to sort if we want to beat quality opposition.

Apart from the chip for the try I just cant see why we persist with Don moving forward. He just cant tuck and run and get the metres we need. Cant take the tough carriers out of our end. How many times last night did he stop and cut in. How many times did he run cross field. I really hope Spry kills it in QCup to me i think id be happier bringing him in and persisting with the teething issues.

AJ was very quiet again but he is coming back from an injury I expected him out longer with so happy to persist with him longer and still hope he finds that end of season 2020 form again but he isnt coming into the attacking line like he was last year searching for the ball.

Our halves are pretty average. Ash was better defensively but our attack didnt amount more to our forwards punching through. I still think we are a class 6,7, and 9 away from contending.

That said its bloody good to get a win and I loved seeing all of the stadium being open. Another solid week of training and lets put the hurt on NQ and establish ourselves at QLDs best team.

    2. Our spine haven’t scored (Clarke doesn’t count).
    3. Wide expansive play all but dries up with Proctor.
    4. MoFo’s loose carries are becoming terrifying to watch
    5. while any kick to Thompson apart from a grubber equals a line break at least if not points.
    6. Lisone seems to be carrying a bit.

I can’t fault anybody’s efforts, toughness or skill set and think Thompson is Presto’s brother from another mother and Mo is a goddamned machine but facts are facts, Coach has some thinking to do.
On your point about us not scoring on our right edge...I'd consider Clark's try a right edge play. Fogarty kicks to the right, kick taken by Herbert, offloaded to Proctor who passes to Don who puts an attacking kick back infield for Clark to score.

Vs the warriors, the highlights show when we attacked with our right edge and were probably more unlucky than anything else not to reap rewards. Firstly, The raid that started with a pass from Rein to Fogarty who cuts out Proctor and finds Herbert. Herbert puts a kick through which is gathered by Proctor who does a ball up play which could have resulted in a try with a little more urgency from our guys.

Then there was the Fogarty kick out to the right, Don is escorted off the play by Tevita, Herbert leaps to knock the ball back, Proctor takes the ball and scores. Try disallowed as Herbert knocked the ball on in the leap.

After that, Peachey passes right to Taylor, Taylor to Herbert, Herbert to Don who scores untouched. Try disallowed, Herbert's pass ruled forward. (I still have my doubts on that one)

The first two tries last night by the broncos (on our left edge)...I don't think we could have done much more to stop them. Nui got the ball down a fraction of a second before Taylor put him out. Then the AJ strip (accidental or not) resulting in the Coates try was one of those unlucky moments you get in footy. Just unlucky. Their last try, again on our left was brute strength and determination. Sami was never going to stop TPJ in that situation and Tino was too buggered to offer much assistance.

Lisone is carrying a bit...but carries it well. The coaching staff would be well aware of it and are still naming him, which i'm happy with.

All in all...it's round 2. Our attack and defence, Mofo's carries, Brimo chiming into the right side attack etc...all will sharpen as the season goes on.

    JMO.

Not too carried away with the win but it is still only round 2. Let’s face it the Broncos were very poor last night and except for the 8 minutes before half time the match was fairly even.

Like others I am not sold on our halves who lack real penetration and creativity.

Anyway looking forward to this week but it will be really humid in Townsville

We played a lot better than the week prior but still far too many basic errors and I agree with the consensus around our halves. Too much setting up shape on every tackle, playing early, and still not taking the line on. Work to be done there.

Tino was great and my MOTM. Corey Thompson very good. Fifita was good and it was pleasing to see we had some set piece in place to utilise him. Clark very good off the bench - his defensive work is really impressive. AJ was quiet on attack but pulled off some big defensive plays.

Great to get the derby dub and an important win for the club and the fans.

Not sure about all the Don hate. What opportunities were created for him? He had an overlap once last night (I'm watching this at the ground from the opposite side) and the ball stopped at Proctor. We just seem to shuffle the ball sideways and just keep it going to the winger and hope like heck that he can do mickey flips to score a try 30m out. Some of his sideway runs from restarts are to enable more time for the forwards to get back on side for the first and second tackle plays. We only broke the line with the aid of a "half" when Peachey took the damn ball to the line drew the man and put Fifita into the gap.

Agree with MT. All Donkeys tries came off bad calls from the on field and bunker refs.

How good were the skydivers? How bad that once again for about the 3rd year running stadium Queensland leaves old stock in the fridges and the soft drinks were all out of date.

How good is it that we didn't end up with Kevvie not being our coach. Loved his interview, ****s starting to dawn on him that the Bronchokes need three years to get to NRL standard, at the same time their players are leaving in droves and the saltiness of Fifita is still leaving a bad taste in their mouth.

17000, but it is an amazing feeling when you finally out number the opposition fan base 10 to 1

In fairness to Don...I think the balls to the right, by pass or by kick stops with Herbert a lot too. He's only two games in. Hopefully he and Don can get a combination going. Proctor should maybe work on his decoy running, and Fogarty on his cut out passing to the right at training.

Kicks to our right edge also seem to come down to Herbert who likes to leap and knock the ball back infield to Proctor. Our halves might need some more practice with bombs to Don.

That’s an interesting take JB. If Don ran forward then the forwards wouldn’t have to retreat so far. All I can say is we look a heck of a lot better when we start our sets after they have kicked to Thompson.

There was a clear opportunity at the 20 minute mark. He would have been one on one with fullback after we created an overlap from the set play. Instead of going for the corner like every other winger in the comp he cut back in and ran to the middle of the field and passed to Proctor.

I thought our halves were much improved last night. Holbrook nailed the hooker interchange with Clarke also.

I was very pleased with the match. Especially the obvious team spirit after scoring. Happy players always play the team game of Rugby League better. I was glued to every second at home.

Fitita really paid them all back for the mudslinging he got this week from the ill informed, trigger happy media.

I was impressed with Erin Clark. Sami was at home.

I just LOVE the home jersey. One unique thing that it does for me is that I'm hypnotised by it. It's very eye catching because of the light to dark blue gradient. It locks your eyes in. It's a jersey people will want to wear if we play well. And it represents the Gold Coast so well. Never change it.

Yea I definitely see the comparison you are making. He is Rugby League incarnate. On the FOX telecast they marveled how the basically beat every first defender. I hope the rest of the team soaks up some of his enthusiasm and puts it in support play and staying alive or scrambling.

Glad we also have the Queensland Cup back. Let's try and make a point of following our feeders more in 2021 and see how our players go.
