A rangy 16-year-old lock, Aston Bai captained Marymount College to win the Gold Coast Titans Schools Cup last weekend.

The Titans have had their eye on the youngster for some time and have signed him in their pathways program as a development player.

Dad Marcus is still a legendary figure in Melbourne, where he played nearly 150 games for the Storm, scoring many spectacular tries.

But the PNG Test star also began his top grade career on the Gold Coast, playing one season with the then Chargers before being snapped up by the Storm.

The Mole has got it wrong. It's definitely Cooper and not Aston. Aston isn't contracted in any capacity.

How embarrassing. It's not that hard to fact-check when you're a journalist publishing this stuff for clicks.

Lol … I negotiated with Broughton to sign Marcus to the Chargers from Port Moresby Vipers and he tragically let him go.

That same article has been posted in at least 3 other separate publications so maybe it may be correct?

    Nope. It is not correct.

He'd be top tier in his age group but he's still very young. Hard to get a gauge until they hit Langer Cup or play MM at a minimum.

Certainly one to keep an eye on for the next few years though as he progresses.

Thompson re-signs until end of '23, adding an extra year to his existing contract.

Bloody best news of the year, so happy to see him here longer. Punches well above his weight on and off the field

Let’s hope they move Sami to the right wing.

I doubt they will. Probably think CT can help the defence on that side. CT on either side is great, Sami on either side is terrible.

Agree on all layers JB, just hoped that with Pepsi on the right Sami wouldn't see the ball and conversely realised that neither would Thompson.

You will notice that Treymain Spry's player profile has been removed from the Titans website. I got blasted by a few last time I alluded to this but I think we can safely conclude he is no longer contracted to the club.

Unfortunate because the way he finished 2020 he really looked like an NRL player.

His player profile is still in his titans jersey on the qrl website and he is getting game time regularly with tweed
