Warriors v Titans: New era begins for two clubs
https://www.titans.com.au/
Nathan Brown's first game as Warriors coach is up against arguably the most exciting team in the league with the rapidly improving Titans visiting Central Coast Stadium.
Both these clubs are aiming to become top-eight contenders this year after missing last year's finals, with each recruiting heavily in the off-season.
The Warriors have brought in Addin Fonua-Blake, Euan Aitken, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Bayley Sironen and Kane Evans, while the Titans clinched the superstar signings of David Fifita and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui plus Herman Ese'ese, Patrick Herbert and Sam McIntyre.
The Gold Coast are favoured to climb this year after winning their last five games of 2020, but the Warriors are set for a big season as well in Roger Tuivasa-Sheck's final year at the club.
Team news
Warriors: Wayde Egan's shoulder injury leaves a hole at hooker with Jazz Tevaga likely to fill the gap, while new face Aitken is set to start in the centres and Fonua-Blake and Murdoch-Masila will be pushing for spots in the starting pack.
Titans: Patrick Herbert will line up at centre against his old club while Fifita and Fa'asuamaleaui will join Kevin Proctor in a strong back row. Star fullback AJ Brimson is fit and firing after missing the first 11 rounds of 2020.
Key match-up
Chanel Harris-Tavita v Jamal Fogarty. The fullback battle between Kiwis custodian Tuivasa-Sheck and Maroons rookie Brimson will dominate the highlights but the contest between halfbacks Harris-Tavita and Fogarty will likely play a bigger part in deciding the result here. After two seasons in the top grade it's time for the 21-year-old Harris-Tavita to become a dominant playmaker at the Warriors, a role that 27-year-old Fogarty thrived in in his first full season as a Titan last year.
Stat attack
The Titans didn't just finish the 2020 regular season on a high, they were arguably the second-hottest team in the final five rounds. In that period they scored 25 tries and conceded just 10, ranking them second behind only minor premiers Penrith (25 scored, five conceded) and level with eventual grand final winners Melbourne (30 scored, 15 conceded). And that was before the arrival of Fifita and Fa'asuamaleaui.

168 hours to go. I'm not excited or anything.
I think this is very much a danger game for us, we historically have never done well against the warriors, we know rts is leaving end of the season, they have been based in australia due to covid, they have some new signings and monsters in their forward pack (albeit we will see if the new pace of the game effects their fatigue), the trial was pretty even despite us resting some of our guns in 2nd half.
Hopefully our cohesion with new recruits builds quite quickly and we contain their forward pack early in the game to stop any momentum. Early ball spreads in out half got us up the ground in the trials, and hopefully once fatigue kicks in we can go through the middle of them.
Either way can't wait for season kick off and see how we go, would love to get some early wins especially when we are versing non top 4 teams. Giddyup
The expectations a lot of Titans fans have causes me some fear. Winning games of footy is bloody hard. Injuries, NSWRL Referees, the Sydney Judiciary, the Sydney Media view that we are irrelevant, the Sydney Bunker bias, any potential off field scandals and The Murdoch Drongoe Mail are still factors unique to us that no other club has to overcome.
One week at a time. This will be a tough game. The NZ lads have been living together all summer. They must have fantastic unity right now.
I reckon if I was forced to live with some of my work mates there wouldn't be a whole lot of unity and more lets play a game...... It's called "The Purge".
It'd be a great for all of us if we got off to a good start to the season. Smith might come knocking if we look good enough.
First team announcement of the year ... can’t wait.
Four reasons to escape to Queensland: Sun, Surf, Sand & the Titans.
got to love team list tuesday's happening again
Bring it on! Very keen for the first TLT and even better is we don't have any injuries impacting our top 17 *touch wood* like we have had in the past few years.
Expecting it to look basically the exact same as the trial team list a couple of weeks ago
Warriors side is very strong
Warriors pack looking big, and their backs monster ours in strength
