That's good. I already see our name being thrown about on death lists.

Yea those ones are in real danger. It's mind-blowing how competitive Manly have been for years considering.

We certainly are too. But I believe we can survive given sacrifice and supporting the club. Something probably has to happen with player payments across the league.

Perhaps it's a blessing that we've never had a league's club and been dependant on the money from it? Now just depends on how much the owners want to back us?

I would have thought a leagues club during this period would be a burden on any club. Panthers apparently have 5 and are set to lose 30m from them this year alone.

NRL tells clubs season must restart by September to be salvaged
    https://www.nrl.com/

The NRL is preparing alternative season schedules that could have players back on the paddock as early as June, and as late as September.

But should a shortened 15-game season not be kicked off by September 1, which would mean players were in action up until Christmas, the 2020 campaign is expected to be abandoned.

CEOs and chairs from all 16 clubs phoned in or met at Rugby League Central on Tuesday morning in response to the game's landmark decision to cancel matches amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A variety of return-to-play scenarios were put to the delegation, with the earliest possible kick-off date slated for June 1, amounting to a nine-week hiatus.

In a best-case scenario, the NRL would return in some form from that date, though government advice will dictate when it is safe to do so.

Alternative competition start dates for July, August and September have also been outlined, with numerous formats still being considered.

A September 1 kick-off would result in a condensed 15-game campaign in which each team plays each other once, before a grand final held deep in December.

NRL.com understands the previously mooted two-conference system, where clubs would be split into two locations to limit travel and public exposure, remains an option to keep games going ahead.

So too is the prospect of shifting the entire competition to North Queensland, though the logistics of both scenarios will be dictated by individual state government policies.

RLPA chief Clint Newton has indicated players are willing to continue playing well into the summer months, but there is yet to be any briefing on potentially playing the competition out of one location.

The NRL and RLPA are scheduled to begin discussions around the salary cap and potential player wage cuts in the next 24 hours.

Meetings will also be held with broadcasters Foxtel and Nine this week.

Club representatives will be briefed again on developments on Friday, with Canterbury's Andrew Hill, the Roosters Joe Kelly, Rabbitohs Blake Solly and Brisbane’s Paul White to lead discussions with the NRL.

No discussions have been held yet as to when State of Origin will be held, but it remains a priority given the financial windfall it provides.

Britain's Rugby Football League remains hopeful this year's Ashes series, currently scheduled for November, can still be accommodated but the NRL season's return will dictate what representative fixtures can still go ahead.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR MEMBERSHIPS AFFECTED BY THE NEW COVID-19 GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS

On behalf of the Gold Coast Titans, we would firstly like to pass on our best wishes to all of our Members, fans and supporters, along with our sincere hopes that you and your families are as unaffected as possible by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Secondly, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support of the Club as we navigate our way through the coronavirus situation.

The personal messages of support that the Club has received over the past couple of days from Members declaring they will be standing by the Titans “Thru’n’Thru” has been heartening for everyone at the Club, and made us even prouder to be Titans.

As every club in the NRL faces significant challenges, it is reassuring to know our Members and fans “have our back” at a time when we need your support more than ever.

We will of course keep you up-to-date with any new information provided to us by the NRL, as the governing body directs the whole-of-game response to this unprecedented event unfolding in front of us.

We have understandably had many questions about Memberships and ticketing, particularly since the NRL’s decision yesterday to suspend the 2020 NRL Telstra Premiership indefinitely in response to the pandemic. The NRL has also launched a Season 2020 Fan Information and FAQs page which will be continually be updated as new information comes to light.

This decision was made by the NRL’s pandemic and bio-security experts, who informed the NRL that the health and safety of players could no longer be guaranteed.

All 16 NRL Clubs will be working with the NRL Executive over the next few days to work through the implications of this directive, and its consequences for the remainder of the 2020 NRL season.

While circumstances and information are changing daily, we are currently unable to give definitive answers on how Titans Members will be impacted.

However, with the information currently available, these are some answers we can provide to some of the questions that you may have:

WHY DID THE NRL DECIDE TO SUSPEND THE COMPETITION?

The NRL employed an expert in pandemics and bio-security, and followed the advice of the Federal Government’s medical experts in planning its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the first two rounds of the competition, procedures and protocols were put in place to ensure the health and safety of players and fans were not compromised – including the use of chartered aircraft, and playing games in front of empty stands at grounds locked out to spectators.

On Monday, the advice given to the NRL in relation to this situation changed dramatically, and the experts advised that the health and safety of the players could no longer be guaranteed if the competition were to continue.

The NRL decided to immediately suspend the 2020 NRL season indefinitely.

WHEN WILL THE COMPETITION START AGAIN?

At this stage, the NRL’s decision to suspend the competition is indefinite. The situation, with the view to recommencing the 2020 season, will be reviewed continually in conjunction with expert advice and direction from the Australian Government.

    ARE THE TITANS PLAYERS SAFE?

The Titans were early adopters of hygiene protocols designed to isolate the playing group to keep them healthy with the aim of keeping them available to play.

The Titans administration offices at Parkwood are now closed, and the majority of our staff have been working remotely to minimise contact with the players, and their exposure to the general public.

Consequently, all of the Titans’ community work, players appearances and coaching clinics have been suspended indefinitely to fall in line with the Australian Government’s social isolation guidelines.

I AM A FULL SEASON MEMBER. WITH MATCHES STARTING TO BE PLAYED BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH MY MEMBERSHIP?

If you hold a Membership that includes tickets to home games, we will be in direct contact with you via email once we have had the opportunity to assess what is currently a constantly shifting situation.

We hope you understand that until we can confirm which of our games will be restricted, we are unable to make any decisions about how your Membership may be impacted.

While for the time being we are not able to have you at our matches through your membership, you should have by now received a special offer from Kayo that would enable you to access all of our matches live online, as well as all other NRL matches.

I HOLD A REDUCED-ACCESS MEMBERSHIP (4-GAME RESERVED, FLEXI-PASS, CLUB AND SUPPORTER). WITH MATCHES STARTING TO BE PLAYED BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH MY MEMBERSHIP?

As with full-season Memberships, until we can confirm which of our games will be restricted, we are unable to provide direction around your Membership inclusion of one, two or four matches, or the banks of five, ten or twenty tickets included in our Flexi-Pass product.

While for the time being we are not able to have you at our matches through your membership, members with entitlements to 2 games or more (4-Game Reserved, Flexi-Pass Memberships) should have by now received a special offer from Kayo that would enable you to access all of our matches live online, as well as all other NRL matches.

This offer from Kayo was not made available to members with ticket entitlements to less than 2 matches (Club and Supporter Memberships).

I’M AN AWAY LEGION MEMBER. WITH MATCHES STARTING TO BE PLAYED BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH MY MEMBERSHIP?

For those who have a Membership that involves access to away games, we will reach out to you via email with further information and direction once matches are accessible, and when the other NRL clubs have confirmed their schedules.

I HOLD A NON-TICKETED MEMBERSHIP (SOCIAL, TINY TITANS, BLADE’S BRIGADE). WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MY MEMBERSHIP?

As there is no ticketing entitlement associated with your Membership, there is no immediate impact.

I HAVE REDEEMED SOME OF MY MEMBER ENTITLEMENTS FOR TICKETS TO THE MATCH VS PARRAMATTA EELS. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH THAT?

Once the club in conjunction with other clubs and the NRL has worked out how the season will operate on the field long term, we will communicate via email with all members regarding what the options will be to transfer these member tickets.

I ALREADY HAVE KAYO, OR I HAVE A QUESTION REGARDING THE KAYO OFFER THAT WAS EXTENDED TO TICKETED AND REDUCED ACCESS MEMBERS. WHO DO I CONTACT?

Please visit the following page if you receive the offer via email as a Ticketed or Reduced-Access member, and you already have a Kayo account: https://help.kayosports.com.au/s/art...o-subscription

For any general technical issues relating to this offer, please visit the Kayo website: https://help.kayosports.com.au/s/

I’M A NON-TICKETED MEMBER OR A SINGLE GAME MEMBER, WHY DIDN’T I RECEIVE THE OFFER FROM KAYO?

Kayo have put forward a special offer to members with entitlements to 2 or more games in lieu of the matches already being played behind closed doors so they can still watch them.

This offer from Kayo was not made available to members with ticket entitlements to less than 2 matches (Club and Supporter Memberships).

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO HEAR MORE INFORMATION REGARDING MY MEMBERSHIP?

As more information becomes available, and further direction is provided by the NRL, we will continue to keep our Members, fans and supporters updated with emails, via our social media channels and through the Titans’ website.

But please understand, due to working restrictions in force due to coronavirus pandemic, it may take longer than usual to respond to your enquiry.

Once again, I would like to thank you all – not only for your ongoing support of the Titans, but for your patience and understanding as the Club and the game navigate these unprecedented and extraordinary circumstances.

Why the Gold Coast Titans are better equipped to deal with the NRL shutdown than the Broncos
    https://www.couriermail.com.au/

The Titans have long been the paupers of the NRL - but now that weakness becomes a strength, with the Gold Coast far better placed to deal with the shutdown than the Broncos.

The Gold Coast Titans’ biggest weakness has turned into the club’s strength in the fight to stay alive during the NRL’s coronavirus crisis.

The Titans’ owners have vowed to keep the battling NRL franchise afloat following the league’s decision to indefinitely suspend the 2020 season.

The NRL’s 16 clubs have already started cost-cutting measures, slashing staff and budgets given the competition will not resume before June at the earliest.

The Titans have long been the NRL’s paupers, operating on a shoestring budget in comparison to glamour clubs like the Brisbane Broncos, who generated $52 million in revenue last year.

The Titans employ about 50 staff, less than half of the Broncos, and their shrewd spending has been viewed as the club’s achilles heel in the yearly arms race to win the NRL premiership.

But with most clubs now relying on handouts from the NRL to survive, the Titans are well-placed to emerge from the game’s biggest financial crisis intact.

“Because the business has had to run lean for some time, this situation works in your favour,” Titans CEO Steve Mitchell said.

“We’ve been running very close to what’s a baseline resourcing expectation around an NRL club.

“We don’t have the geared-up resourcing the bigger clubs like the Broncos would have to deliver their programs right across Brisbane. We won’t have to make the same amount of deep cuts that the Broncos might have to make.

“We’re lucky we’ve got two wonderful owners in the Frizelle (Brett and Rebecca) and Kelly (Darryl and Jo) families. They’re great custodians of the club.

“We’re in constant dialogue and they’re steadfast in their belief in the organisation and it’s sustainability going forward.

“That helps greatly. Armed with that, we’re confident we’ll work our way through this and the club won’t be going anywhere.”

The Titans have started the process of asking staff to take leave and Mitchell said yesterday morning they had yet to lay-off any employees.

But with little membership, corporate and game-day revenue coming into the business, it is likely the club will be forced to cut staff until the competition resumes.

“We’re lucky in the fact we are flexible, we’re not as resourced as some of the really big clubs that have to make dramatic changes,” Mitchell said.

“We’ll definitely need to make sacrifices. That’s everybody. We’ll adjust to our needs so we can get through. We’re seeing that across the country.

“We want to be here at the back of this. We know there is a finite period of time this will go on for. We want to come out the other end of this while we’ve got our people intact so we can get back to work.

“We want to keep all of our people. We’ve got wonderful people who are passionate about the club.

“We don’t want to lose them. They’re part of our family. We’ve got to do our best to retain them.

“We’re going to work our way towards holding on to these guys as best as we can.

“We’re all going to take a hit at some point, but we want them here so when we get through we can get back to business as quickly as possible.”

The Titans’ players have been given days off yesterday and today as the club plots its plans for a season with no games.
