There is no way Bryce is getting a jab unless it comes with a divorce. Kelly on the other hand who said 'No' to support his mate must be sweating bullets right now and if Bryce is half the man Brian appears to be he should ring him and say, mate appreciate the support but you do what is best for you. Anything less and Bryce is a dog.

QLD BANS PLAYERS WITHOUT FLU VACCINE FROM ENTERING STATE

Queensland’s Chief Health Officer has declared that players won't be allowed to enter the state unless they recieve the flu vaccine.
In a setback for the NRL ahead of their May 28 restart, Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said on Tuesday players would only receive vaccination exemptions on medical grounds.
The Queensland government’s “no jab, no play” stance is bad news for Gold Coast duo Bryce Cartwright and Brian Kelly who have been stood down after rejecting the jab.
And it is a blow for the NRL’s anti-vaccination players including Manly duo Dylan Walker and Addin Fonua-Blake, Canterbury rake Sione Katoa plus Canberra trio Josh Papalii, Sia Soliola and Joseph Tapine.
The news also looks set to cause headaches for the league before the rest of the 2020 NRL draw is finalised as early as this week.
They may now be tempted to avoid scheduling games in Queensland for the teams who will be most affected - Canberra and Manly.
Overall about 20 players have signed a waiver to avoid a flu jab for various reasons.
ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys had been confident the Queensland government would accept their biosecurity guidelines that would allow NRL players to sign a waiver to refuse the vaccination.
It would have cleared Cartwright and Kelly to return to training after they were sidelined following the Queensland government’s intervention. But Young said she had told the NRL they would only provide medical exemptions for players.
Cartwright and Kelly are the only NRL players to have been stood down after the NSW government refused to adopt Queensland’s “no jab, no play” stance.
However, a number of interstate NRL players won’t be allowed to play when their teams visit Queensland after the competition restart due to the state government’s policy.
The NRL said they accepted the decision.
“We respect the decision of the Queensland Chief Health Officer and are working with clubs to mitigate the impact on the season when it resumes on May 28,” a spokesman said.
“We have always said we will comply with the directions of relevant government and health authorities.
“It will mean a small number of players will be ineligible to play in Queensland while the current restrictions remain in place.”
Danny Levi said it would be a blow if Manly teammates Walker and Fonua-Blake were not allowed to play in Queensland.
“Obviously it would be pretty disappointing,” he said.
“But at the same time the game is trying to make sure everyone is healthy.”

Not very fair that they may change the location of teams to play to avoid QLD though. Tough tiddies if there are and your players miss out.

The whole Sydney/Brisbane media attitude is that if it hurts the GC then who cares. Problem solved. Move on.

If it hurts anyone else then there needs to be a discussion about what to do.

I don't think it's just the media. The NRL changes where games are being played then they are also just as responsible for playing favourites.

If Cartwright wasn't such an idiot there wouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully Kelly comes to his senses.

Indeed. It remains very annoying that we (Garth/Graham) took on his awful inflated contract and his baggage.

    FROM THE CLUB

    Dear Mr Bods

The Gold Coast Titans have made formal requests to Bryce Cartwright and Brian Kelly to obtain up-to-date influenza and, as required, pneumococcal vaccinations.

Doing so will enable each player to meet the requirements of the Queensland State Government’s protocols allowing Queensland-based NRL Clubs to train and play.

In turn, this will allow both players to resume training and to play with the Titans when the NRL Telstra Premiership resumes on May 28.

Both players have been asked to notify the Club of their agreement with this direction by Thursday 14 May.

The Gold Coast Titans will be making no further comment on this issue until that time.

    As an aside

Thumbs Down to the Anti Vax Crew that’s used this tiny bloody Flu Jab for devious reasons to an unrelated agenda. Booooooooo

Sounds like they are angling to terminate his contract, hopefully he sticks to his guns.

If there is one thing you can do right for this club Bryce, do this!

Just glad someone eventually pulled the trigger and made a decisive decision, in this case it was Jeanette Young & Co. The ARLC/NRL were starting to come across as poor joke pussy-footing around these anti-vaxxer's.

Also, Bryce. Feel free to piss off anytime soon. I'm done with this **** you 'n the missus stirred up recently and in the past.

SMH is reporting that BCartwright is considering getting it done tomorrow.

NRL 2020: Bryce Cartwright considers getting jab as Queensland extends flu-shot edict to all major sports

    May 13, 2020 — 6.51pm
By Michael Chammas and Tom Decent

The prospect of losing his job and $450,000 has left Bryce Cartwright considering abandoning his beliefs and taking the influenza vaccination.

The development came as the Queensland government extended its "no jab, no play" policy to all major sports, declaring that any league, union or AFL player who wanted to enter the state had to have a flu jab.

Sources close to Cartwright have told the Herald the 25-year-old, who has been stood down alongside teammate Brian Kelly for refusing to take the flu shot, is now reconsidering his stance after the Titans presented him with an ultimatum.

Cartwright and Kelly have until Thursday to decide whether they will follow a club directive issued on Tuesday to receive the influenza vaccination, knowing a failure to do so could allow the Titans to terminate their current deals that both expire at the end of 2021.

Under the "termination due to health risk" section of the NRL player contract, it states: "Where in the reasonable opinion of the club medical officer, the player would by reason of some physical medical condition be exposed by playing the game to a greater than usual risk to his health, or to a greater than usual risk to injury, the club may at any time during the employment term, terminate this agreement with immediate effect.''

The termination pay-out in this instance would entitle the players to the remainder of their 2020 contract value, as well as a quarter of next year's salary.

Bryce Cartwright has a big decision to make.

Cartwright still has another $250,000 owed to him by the Titans this year as part of his $600,000-a-season salary, however NRL players have agreed to receive around half their pay for the next five months due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which reduces Cartwright's 2020 outstanding value to $125,000.

If his contract is terminated he would receive that $125,000 as well as a quarter of his 2021 salary, which would see him earn just $275,000 of the $725,000 he would be entitled to if he takes the injection and sees out the remaining two seasons of his deal. As of Wednesday night, neither Cartwright nor Kelly had notified the Titans of their intentions.
