Default Titans Together - Community Foundation

    Titans in community
    http://www.couriermail.com.au

THE Gold Coast have taken their community program to a new level after launching Titans Together yesterday.

The Titans have been committed to supporting the local community since the club was established in 2007, raising more than $3.5 million in donations.

Fox League’s Yvonne Sampson yesterday launched the rebranded program at Kurrawa Surf Club.

Run in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, donations are used to drive a range of community projects across indigenous education, inclusion projects like physical disabilities rugby league, as well as development, participation and high-performance football programs.

“Community has always been at the heart of this club,” executive chairman Dennis Watt said.

“Being a Titan is about more than wearing the jersey.

“Everyone involved in these programs is inspired to give back to their community, and be part of something greater.”

The Titans may lack onfield success but few NRL clubs do more for their local community.

Gold Coast launch Titans Together to care, include unite and inspire
    Titans.com.au

The Gold Coast Titans’ connection and commitment to the local community has been taken to a new level this morning with the official launch of “Titans Together”.

Since the birth of the Gold Coast Titans back in 2007, the Club has been driven by its commitment to the local community.

That commitment has seen the Titans Community Foundation raise more than $3.5 million dollars in donations, and invest just short of 21,000 hours, to create a better life for the people of the local community.

Today launches a new era for that commitment, as the Titans Community Foundation officially becomes Titans Together.

Using the popularity and profile of rugby league, the Gold Coast Titans are driven to create a better life for the people of our community, driving change through the power of positive action.

As Titans Together, we will Care, Include, Unite and Inspire.

At a star-studded event at Kurrawa Surf Lifesaving Club, hosted by Fox League’s Yvonne Sampson, the Titans launched Titans Together with a demonstration of four of the long-term programs currently run to improve the lives of people in our community: Deadly Futures, Disabled Surfing, Touch Football Specialised and Titans LeagueAbility.

The launch was capped with the presentation of a cheque for more than $70,000 to Titans Together from Spano’s IGA, The Sunland Group, Lloyds Auctions and Haydn Chambers to support the initiative and the programs involved.

Run in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, all donations to Titans Together are used to drive a range of community projects across Indigenous education, inclusion projects like Physical Disabilities rugby league, as well as development, participation and high-performance football programs.

“Community has always been at the heart of this Club,” said Titans Executive Chairman Dennis Watt.

“Anyone who has witnessed the hard work and results achieved over many years by the Titans Community Foundation would attest that the work done by the Titans in supporting the people of their community is not just among the best in the NRL, but world-class.

“If you needed further evidence, you only need listen to the inspiring stories of the people who have been involved in these programs and the life-changing – and in some cases, life-saving – influence the Titans community staff have had on them and their families.

“Being a Titan is about more than wearing the jersey. Everyone involved in these programs is inspired to give back to their community, and be part of something greater.

“We are indeed fortunate that we have so many businesses, big and small, and like-minded individuals who share this Club’s vision to make a better life for the people in our community.

“This is what it means to be Titans Together.”

It’s a pleasure to read that even the Courier Bloody Mail recognizes that “few NRL clubs do more for their community”. Who isn’t proud to be a Titan? Follow DH and dig just a little deeper.

Mini Back Supporting Titans Together To The Max

He served the Club with distinction as a player for eight years, now Mark Minichiello is ready to jump in to help the Gold Coast Titans again by supporting the club’s community service program, Titans Together.

Titans Together was launched on Tuesday at a star-studded event at Kurrawa Surf Club, with Minichiello and fellow ex-Titans Clinton Toopi, William Zillman and Luke Douglas on hand to show their support for the initiative and the Titans as a whole.

Minichiello was one of the original Titans – joining the club for its debut year in 2007, and going onto be one of its greatest servants, with 173 games for the Titans over eight seasons.

“Mini” finally called time on his extraordinary career after 397 top-flight games with the Titans, Roosters, Rabbitohs and finally Super League’s Hull FC, with whom he played 138 games in five seasons.

On top of that, the 38-year-old played five games for NSW City Origin, and six Tests for Italy – putting his senior career total over the mythical 400-game mark.

Now back on the Gold Coast after the finish of his English career, Minichiello is keen to give back to the community and grassroots football in the region, and sees Titans Together as the perfect way to do that.

“Rugby league is a massive part of my life. I was at the club for eight years, and I would love to be involved and help out the community,” Minichiello said. “They support the team and the club, and you have to give back to the community.

“I love helping people. I am doing some things on my own with some programs to help people live better lives and perform better. So if I can help out, that would be great.

We are Titans Together We are Titans Together
    We are Titans Together
“The new branding, Titans Together, is a great initiative by the club. We did lots of community work at the start when I first came on board at the Titans, and to see where it has come and grown to is exciting for the club and the community as well.

“They are doing some excellent work, and some of the programs are really inspiring to the people who are involved and everyone around.

“I am really proud that I had a really small part to play in that when I was at the club, and now if I can help out since I am back on the Gold Coast, I am happy to do that.”

Minichiello said the Titans’ never-ending commitment to community would ensure the club would evolve into a powerhouse of the NRL.

“They have struggled (on the field) over the past few years, but one thing that has never waivered is their commitment to the community,” he said.

“That is a credit to the club, and it is one way you can build a foundation for success….by having that strong community base.

“I hope everyone jumps on board. I know Justin (Holbrook) is a great coach and he is going to do some great things with the team. I hope they can transfer that onto the field, and together grow into a real force in the NRL.”

Titans Together: A year in review
    http://www.titans.com.au

It has been a huge year of achievements for "Titans Together".

Established in 2020, the Gold Coast Titans foundation was built with the aim to Care, Include, Unite and Inspire.

As the 12-month anniversary approaches, the numbers show exactly how the foundation has used the popularity and profile of rugby league and the Gold Coast Titans to create a better life for our people in the community and how it has driven positive change.

The Titans have established three social inclusion programs and two social inclusion teams (physical disability and intellectual disability), with more than 35 players part of the PDRL and IDRL programs.

Learn more and support Titans Together via donation here.

From supporting the Disabled Surfing Association of Australia to Down Syndrome Queensland, with the Down Syndrome run-out event and Touch Football specialised, Titans Together works to include all within the Gold Coast community.

Almost 8000 junior players across the Titans catchment are enjoying rugby league, with those players spread across 29 junior rugby league clubs.

The Gold Coast Titans are committed to working with junior rugby league clubs and schools across our catchment to build a community of young people who are dedicated to rugby league, sportsmanship, teamwork and fun.

In schools, Titans Together has helped foster 185 teacher ambassadors, 114 Deadly Futures and School to Work students and has worked in running 4 high school rugby league competitions.

In the Indigenous space, 31% of the Gold Coast Titans squad are of First Nations decent. 350 hours have been spent creating our 'Stretch' Reconciliation Action plan, with 20 members (including current players) part of the RAP working group.

It's been a huge first year for Titans Together, with the foundation planning to grow even further in 2021.

As we celebrate the one year anniversary, the Titans would also like to thank the Gold Coast community who have raised over $100,000 in support of Titans Together programs.
