    TRoberts was a fail
Arrow has burned his bridges unless he asks Souffs to be released from his 2021 contract (worth a try)
If it’s Proctor then a lot of fans will be very dirty
    Wallace is a maybe.

If Peats could be convinced to stay off social media, he would probably be my selection.

The Don and Watkins are others to consider.

We are probably getting a leadership group

Peats, Mo, Brimson. Anybody who’s given their all for the last couple of years.

Hopefully we can give RJ the peace of mind to retire and strengthen our links in the northern rivers with an ambassador role

Absolutely devastating. My sympathies go out to Ryan. I hope he can somehow return to the field.

Yes he certainly does. Here is a man who embodies the culture, ideals and personality we want as a club.

Update from the Gold Coast Titans on injury to Ryan James
    http://www.titans.com.au

Gold Coast Titans forward Ryan James will revisit specialists on Monday after suffering a reoccurrence of his anterior cruciate ligament injury during training on Friday, to get a full diagnosis on the injury, his treatment and recovery.

Initial scans on Friday indicated James has again damaged the ACL he tore in Round 6 last year, an injury that ended his season.

James said the disappointing news was taking “a while to absorb” after feeling buoyant about his recovery ahead of the 2020 season.

“It is obviously pretty devastating, after all that hard work, time away from the team and time off the field to be back to square one again,” James said. “It was hard enough to have to watch on last year and feel helpless while the team struggled.

“This year, I was looking forward to playing again and being part of a good year with the Titans after a really good off-season with the Club. Now I will be missing that as well.

“It was more a shock than anything. I had been really cautious and deliberate with every part of the rehab, and I was really happy with how it had responded. I had told more than one person that I was at the stage where I was not even thinking about the knee anymore at training.

“It was moving freely and I felt really confident in it. It just felt back to normal.

“When it happened, there was a bit of pain, but not the same as the last time it went. It felt different, so I was hopeful it might have been a different issue, or minor damage relating to the surgery. But the scans on Friday came back with the worst news.

“I will be back to see the specialists on Monday for more scans, and to discuss what my options are from here. Once we find out what needs to be done, I can get to work again.

“It will take a while to absorb, I think. It is disappointing, especially for my wife and my family. But the love and support I have had from them and everyone at the Club has made it easier to deal with.”

Gold Coast Titans Head Coach Justin Holbrook said while disappointed for James and the Club, the 28-year-old would remain a key part of the Titans’ 2020 campaign.

“I really feel for Ryan. Anyone who has met Ryan knows him to be one of the nicest, most humble men in our game,” Holbrook said. “I was looking forward to him playing a big part in our team this season.

“Ryan will now play a key role with us off the field, as he will still add value to our team and our Club.

“He holds a special place at the Titans and among our fans, because he is a Bilambil junior who came all the way through our system to captain the Titans and is so widely respected for who he is as a player and person

“The reaction to the news of Ryan’s injury on Friday, not just from Gold Coast supporters but around the league, was the best indicator of the respect everyone in rugby league has for Ryan.

“You never like to see any player in the NRL suffer an injury like this, but for someone like Ryan to have had the same injury twice in less than a year is particularly cruel.

“Once he gets the latest advice from his specialists on Monday, we will get an idea of what is involved for Ryan’s journey ahead and we will support him through it.”

Injured Gold Coast forward Ryan James wants to continue career with Titans after knee reconstruction recovery

A shattered Ryan James has appealed for the Titans to stand by him as the Gold Coast captain vowed to fight his way back from a third knee reconstruction.

Steeling himself for another six-to-nine-month rehabilitation, James has witnessed other NRL stars recover from multiple knee operations and says the pain of another ACL rupture will not force him into retirement.

But James needs the support of the Titans to salvage his NRL career.

The 28-year-old is off-contract at season’s end and with no opportunity to press his claims this year, James is banking on 144 games of stellar service for the Titans to clinch another deal for 2021.

“I’m hopeful the Titans will give me a new deal,” said James, who was injured in a freak training mishap last week.

“At the moment, my focus is getting healthy, but in time I will sit down with the club and tell them it’s not time for me to go yet.

“I will talk to the Titans at the appropriate time about what I need to do. I will do the hard yards to get back on the field with the club that has given me everything I have got.

“The first few hours (after injuring his knee) I thought, ‘is that it for me?’

“But then I had this turning point. I was at the end of my street and you can see Cbus Super Stadium (Titans home ground) from my place and my son Carter said, ‘Dad, there’s your stadium, let’s go watch you play’.

“That reinforced to me that I’m still too young to retire. I’m only 28 and other players have had far worse injuries than me and come back.

The NSW Origin hopeful has not played for the Titans since April 21 last year, when he snapped the ACL in his right knee against Newcastle. It was his second reconstruction after his left knee buckled in 2011.

Initially gutted at the thought of not playing for almost two years, James quickly found perspective watching the evening news.

“It was pretty shattering to see the tear because I didn’t think I had done it again when I first went down,” James said.

“I was sad and sorry for the first 24 hours, then I got home and saw the tragic story of that couple in Sydney who had their three kids killed by a drunk driver (last week).

“That kicked my butt into gear pretty quick.

“Watching that I thought, ‘It’s only my knee. Who cares?’ I haven’t lost my children. My two young boys are happy and healthy so I’ve got perspective.

“Life goes on. I know I’ve got some hard days coming up but I’m ready for it. I’ll pick myself back up and play again.”

James will go under the knife in a fortnight and has been inspired by unexpected phone calls from other NRL players who have fought back from knee reconstructions.

“I’ve had some really great support from the NRL. Tautau Moga (Newcastle centre) reached out to me. He has had four knee recos and he’s still playing,” he said.

“Sandor Earl (Melbourne winger) has been another one, he went through his own tough times. I don’t know either guy so for Tautau and Sandor to call me meant a lot.

“I’ve come too far not to help the club succeed. I’ve been with the Titans since my teens so in 2021 I want to be out there with the boys.

“I’ve read a yarn saying I have to take a pay cut and the reality is I haven’t played footy for two years. I won’t be going in asking for a pay rise.

“Hopefully we can come to some sort of agreement because I love the club and can’t imagine myself anywhere else.”

I'd like to see the club take the gamble and re-sign him for 1 year on 400-500k with a club option for another year pending performance in 2021. Even if he doesn't make it back onto the field, it will send a message that we're a club that sticks by our own, and he most definitely is one of our own. It would be a small price to pay for the positive effects on club culture.

I am pretty sure Ryan, with the type of character and good bloke he is, knows that it won't be all about money and that his loyalty will play a big part on any decision he makes. I don't see him wanting to chase a bigger pay cheque anywhere else and that he will remain a titan. He has morales and is well respected with the wider community

Absolutely, i think 400 with option in clubs favour for 1 extra year at 600k so it averages out for James if he can get back to his best.

You guys are talking bigger money than I would for Ryan.
    I’d go $200k with a club option of $500k.

I’d offer a per game contract if it was allowed. Everyone else treats us like a business.
