    Default Pre-Season Injury Update

With the full playing group ripping in and getting stuck into their pre-season training this week, there are a couple of players on lighter duties after going under the knife in the off-season.

A training group of 36 players commenced at the Titans High Performance Centre on Monday with only five unable to be part of full contact sessions.

Shoulder injuries are a huge talking point in the rugby league news this week with Titans Shannon Boyd, Dale Copley and Ioane Seiuli all having reconstruction surgery and will spend the first half of pre-season strengthening that area.

“They’re going really well. Shannon and Dale are progressing well,” Head of Performance Dan Ferris said.

“They’re doing their work in the gym and they’re out on the field running so it’s been good for those two.

“Ioane got his done a little later as he was playing finals for Tweed Seagulls so his is in its infancy but he is tracking well.”

Forward Ryan James is on the mend after suffering an ACL rupture back in April but whilst no contact is allowed, the Bilambil junior can participate in a large number of field sessions.

“He’s doing everything right and everything he needs to.

“It’s obviously his second time that he’s done it but we knew he’d do well, he’s professional as we all know.

“He’s still in that no contact stage but he’ll start that progression but he’s certainly a boost for the squad.”

Young gun Moeaki Fotuaika had a fantastic 2019 season but his off-season was less enjoyable with the 20-year-old going in for back-to-back operations on his wrist and knee.

“He pretty much hid it all year and kept training and playing.

“He had a wrist surgery and a meniscus (knee) repair.

“We’re going to take our time with Moe and he’s very appreciated by the group.”

Half Tyrone Roberts missed the back end of the season due to his troublesome achilles injury and will continue to be monitored in the opening weeks of pre-season training.

“Tyrone has done really well and kept up his training through the break which has helped when he’s come back.

“The plan in place allows some slow progression for him. We want to get on top of it and get it right the first time.

“He’s doing strengthening work in the gym and running on the AlterG work and we’ll see him out on the field really soon.”
