Interview with Holbrook from about 12:00 onwards.

Cheers, Bundy. Just going by that interview Holbrook sounds like a pretty decent bloke. Didn't talk **** up to the extent like Brennan did when he first come onboard.

Holbrook should send a notice to the playing squad that he intends to flog the bejesus Out of them over the Summer to a level no club has ever seen before and they are free to ask for a release if they aren’t up for it

Did anyone else catch the “How to save the Titans” segment on 100% footy on channel 9? Was absolutely superb and a lot of hard truths. To sum up - the club need to stop paying big dollars for anyone that pops up because they always fail. Start buying players who want to be there even if they are “nobodies” or no name players. Anyone who doesn’t want to be there can go out the door. COULD NOT AGREE MORE.

Gallen was also making the point that throughout his career at Cronulla he consistently took a pay cut even in the times of struggle, and pleaded that Arrow does the same to do his bit in rebuilding the Titans (bet Cronulla who are apparently chasing Arrow aren’t happy with that suggestion haha)

Given Hodges/Burt are clearly lame ducks now about to be shown the door I think it’s imperative that Mal Meninga is the Coach along with the Senior Players for the rest of the season.

They aren’t going to listen to Hodges anymore. You know how it is in the workplace, when you know a manager or colleague is leaving you no longer tune in to them anymore.

Mal Meninga needs to step up for 5 weeks and be the bloody boss and not Mr Nice Guy and take the opportunity as interim Coach/Kangaroos Coach and in no uncertain terms tell the biggest oxygen and money thieves that they can GAGF and if they don’t like being told the truth they can get a release from their contract effective immediately.

Oops-I’m watching a replay of NRL 360 now and Kent said the same thing last night. I wasn’t mimicking bloody Kent I promise.

imagine what mal could do in 5 weeks, if he is the Aus coach he must be good. He selects the best players too stay during this time then comes into next season with a team that really wants too play for their jersey. fresh start.

I don't blame Mal at all. He came in when they were already underperforming and has only been here 9 months. I looks like the owners have asked him to do things outside of what he was initially bought on to do. Mal said right from the start that he was not interested in coaching the team. It is a bit harsh to want him to coach when he has said all along that it is not what he wanted to do. Brennan is sacked and soon a new coach will come in and many of the support staff and players will also be moved on. So I actually think things will improve. Not in the immediate future but once this year finishes. Even then it will be slow but I think it will happen.

My prediction at the beginning of the year was we would finish around 10-12th while everyone else was more optimistic. I think we were all badly wrong. The good thing about all the drama that the club has had is that when we do win a premiership it will be so sweet. Hardships and tough times make times like winning the premiership all the better. We all will be able to celebrate like never before as we were the ones that stuck with them and were loyal through the good and the bad. I still think we are years away from it but I think things are slowly changing.

As other have said leadership is a big issue. One thing I liked about Henry was he came in and cleaned out a lot of players and then was prepared to wait for the right ones to appear and buy. They could employ me as a player but no matter how much love, coaching, kicking up the bum they did to me I would never be better then below average. My thoughts are no amount of coaching will improve some of the wally's we have. Yes some have the potential to improve but a lot just need to be moved on and others purchased that have the talent, will and leadership that we need. If we add to that some great young juniors and a coach that will get the best out of the rest then I think we will improve. Mal in my opinion is not to blame. If i was to blame anyone I would look at whoever is paying overs for under performers that we have. Our Roster Management is the number 1 thing that needs to improve. We have a decent coach coming and the back office seems better then years ago so we mostly need good players who show leadership. This comes from astute purchases, juniors and coaching from Holbrook. I just wish this year would finish so we can move on and look to a brighter future.

Whenever I pointed out that we were either Favourite or 2nd Favourite for the wooden spoon over summer the responses were colourful.

I think the club and the fan base were all guilty of wearing seriously rose coloured glasses last off season. In the end I too got a bit taken in by it all.

I sometimes wonder about Menoitios. Was he some sort of University Psychology Hypothesis because he sure did have a powerful impact on the Forum.

Then just before kick off he just disappeared never to be seen again.

Titanic and MT from memory were pretty pessimistic about our prospects. Healthy pessimism is exactly what we need as we’ve got a plethora of issues in our playing squad from ability to leadership to conditioning to mental toughness to pride in jersey to culture to defensive systems to deal with.

The Club now has provided everything. Parkwood is awesome. The local Climate is perfect for training. The local economy allows our blokes a better lifestyle and bang for their dollar than any other market in the NRL provides.
The Ownership and Board is rock solid.

It’s all now on this playing roster.

Mal is the only one that can ideally attracts new names to the GCT. I dont see anyone else who is in the titans who could be a face to lure some new players. I remember when i followed the titans from day 1, i used to be at most away games and travelled hours to get to these games. Now i can barely watch them on TV, its not that exciting my kids get bored and end up sleeping on me.

Surely after Hodges performance last few weeks he doesn’t get a gig as an assistant

I'm more concerned that Holbrook back flips with these "efforts"

Since Holbrook has been appointed we have had 168 points put on us. Makes me laugh because the players should be busting themselves trying to impress the new coach, yet it almost seems like they are wanting to be released.

Geez I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Holbrook house, he must be wondering what the f he has done

Club has a policy not to pay out players contracts. Whats the coach going to do? Club took his power away. No one is paying what we are paying for this bunch of rabble so the players would be pretty comfortable till their contract year then they'll put the effort in. Its the Titan way.

I really hope that the "no paying out" clause was just a PR stunt to try and force some effort out of the players (which clearly hasn't worked). Because if they are serious about that we are absolutely kidding ourselves if we think anything will change. We have to clear some dead wood just like any club with any sense would do.
