    Taylor’s first half was atrocious
His 2nd half was barely a pass mark

Manly fans would be really disappointed with their effort tonight
I’m enjoying some scotch because we had a win thank Christ in what’s been a horrid season and wins should be savoured but don’t get carried away

Let’s see what they produce in front of us long suffering bitter and twisted fans next Sunday

His salary and Shannon Boyd’s salary should be reversed

Also have been thinking today about Ash Taylor. In talking to mates last couple of weeks i have been critical of Ash and have made the comment he seems like a protected species and wondered what it would take for him to be dropped to Qcup. I thought it might help a player obviously down on confidence find some form, but also rediscover his love for the game.

Tonight i saw some positive signs. Sure, if you just listen to Anasta the tool, you will question his involvement, but to me there was some good signs. In the last couple of weeks he has been blamed for everything but the election result. The fact he is on a million is secondary at the moment. Yes, you want your top earner to be dominating games, but i can understand the club had to do whatever it took to keep him. Lot of pressure for a young kid to be considered the saviour for the club and he hasn’t handled it well obviously.

But tonight we saw him have some class touches. Early he put Wallace through a gap only for him to try and force a pass and they go the length of the field to score. Then, early in the tackle count he puts through a beautiful pin-point chip only for Don to not try and catch it but ground it on the volley. In the 2nd half he takes the line on and gets through half a gap only to drop the ball. Instead of going in to his shell and thinking it is not my night, he later throws a 25m bullet to put Copley over.

I also saw him leading some kick chases and he looked like he was enjoying the game (easier when winning).

I am not annointing him and think he is “back”, but am hopeful he might be on the way back.
I'd have to agree with this. It was probably his best game this season I thought. Still not up to his pay check level by a long shot but that kick he put in for Don was pinpoint and Taylor deserved a try assist for that one. Any other winger in the comp wold have finished that. That long ball cut out pass was also pretty to watch. There were promising signs there but he needs to demand the ball more, which is the problem with having Roberts there.

Roberts was good last night but can he do it again next week. He is so hot and cold, last week he was atrocious. I feel like Roberts performances have a flow on effect to Taylor because of this.

I had a laugh when AJ took the ball to the line and shovelled it to Taylor in the first half, which forced him to take hit and the tackle. Maybe AJ is a bit pissy about the whole situation too

Taylor isn't the guy I'm picking to talk about improvement. Bryce Cartwright, MoFo, Whitbread, TRoberts, Kelly, wow all outstanding. Especially happy to see Bryce starting to look more comfortable in the team. Taylor was playing a supporting role to Roberts dominance. Why? Are we going to say that Taylor didn't have the same opportunities to control that game? He's not being paid to be a support player so his wage does make the conversation when it inhibits us improving our roster. Cust did a similar pass (15m in rather than 20m in from the sideline) to put Tafua in so Taylor is now playing at the level of a fill in half?

Dishonourable mentions to the stay puff marshmallow man Shannon Boyd and Kevin Proctor who should have been binned when LG intercepted Roberts flick pass.

i was thinking the same, weirdly enough i thought when we were down a loss may actually change something within the team finally,
but we won! It was nice to kinda slam that in LG's face as he seems a little up himself.

I watched the game "live" from Sanya where I've been speaking at some high-fallootin' conference on my way to DC and beyond. I have refrained from commenting as I digest what I saw but tend to agree with ausphin and kiwifruit.

Apart from Taylor's two 6th tackle brainfarts (can someone teach him how to count to 5, it happened again last night) his performances have been underwhelming but on the make, imho. I also agree with JB's list of performers but would add AJ and Rein to that list. But the big negative for me is the Don. It's time buddy. Otherwise I feel that we would benefit from having anyone such as King, Whitbread or even Carty (there I said it) rather than Proctor on that right edge to start. Put him on the bench where he can come on and have a decent crack without pacing himself for 80 mins.

As for Brennan, I'm prepared to take some hits on this (knuckle-up Bodsie) although I am vaguely in the replacement lobby for someone better, I do think he was given a poisoned chalice to a certain extent. It would be hard enough to come in under worse circumstances than he did last season and then with that as his only experience he then was given the weight of unrealistic expectation. Boyd, Peachey and Latu were not even starting players when we jagged them, nor were Cartwright or Rein. Why should they be expected to turn us into world-beaters? Talk about believing your own press, we all fell for that or at least I sort of did. How much money they get paid is irrelevant to their performances, it's just what we needed to pay them to get them.

I liked the win last night, I liked the fight back and I liked the look on Boyle, Elliot and LG's faces at full-time. Next week it all happens again ... enough said.

All I’ll say in response Titanic is I think our winning percentage going from 20% to 27% has seen you and a few others get out the Rose colour glasses

Good to get then win, although i think we have played better in some of the losses.

We really could have won 4 or 5 in a row with some luck and composure over the last month or so, and have therefore wasted the easiest part of our draw for the year. We wont taste finals, but even if we held the 14-0 and 16-0 leads wed be top 8 contenders.

Manly were pretty awful though for some reason - one of those occasions where we drag an opponent down to our level of ineptitude and beat them with experience.

My highlights are MO, AJ, Carty, Tyrone and Wallace.

taylors pass was pretty special but it needs to be the icing on the cake, not the lone highlight.

I am waiting for the day when we beat a top side that is on its game before I get too hopeful, but a win is a win and the weekend is so much better.

Good win from the boys and there looked to be a sense of urgency from them. Love how solid Copley is becoming. Also still not sold on Taylor he had one good pass which Copley had to work to catch so in my eyes he is just lucky for the minute. Taylor only ran for 24 meter as per NRL app. Taylor was crying into his Benjiman Franklins saying he needs his buddy back so he can play his best. In my view he should be playing out of his skin week in week out now that Roberts is back. Also on that point I feel it’s unfair of Taylor to put the perceived pressure on Roberts now Roberts is here. Also I believe that Roberts now as Captain should be demanding more from Taylor on the field. Ie “ I’m here now , now pull your finger out and do something. “.

Also last week Taylor had two article written about him by Lockyer and Johns saying he needed to step up and play better. You would have thought that with that sort of criticism coming from two of the best halves we have seem that it would have sprung him into to action.
