The Titans are set to open the cheque book in coming weeks, with Broncos duo Alex Glenn and Jordan Kahu and Melbourne’s Will Chambers in their sights.

One of the few clubs with money up their sleeve in the cap, the Titans know they need to improve their roster to have a chance of making the finals in 2019 after a disappointing season.

They have already done well to sign Shannon Boyd (Raiders), Ryley Jacks (Storm), Tyrone Peachey (Panthers) and Tyrone Roberts (Warrington) but have their eyes on bigger fish.

Konrad Hurrell’s departure to Leeds this week has left them short of fire power in the centres and they are aiming at either Chambers or Kahu to fill the void.

They are also in need of more workhorses in the pack and that is where the consistent Glenn would be a perfect fit.

Usual lurker punts, but haven't seen us target Chambers historically (I know a few have mentioned they would like him). I do like the idea of a big body and some mongrel in our backs.

I'm not really sold on either Glenn, Kahu or Chambers tbh

Nobody agrees with me but I’ll say it again, many of our woes could be fixed by playing Ryan James in the 2nd row. We could then use this excess money to get a top notch Centre.

I am so glad you are back regularly posting Bodsy

The centre debate is a good one. I guess the question that I think needs addressing first is who would we sign? We've needed a top tier centre forever but in reality there are very few top tier centres in the entire game at the moment. The talent that was once in the centres has spread to the wing position, which as we know is now specialised and of as much if not more value.

Keen to hear everyones thoughts on realistic centre targets in the current market?

i feel that article is wrong on account of saying we need workhorses.... we ONLY have workhorses. we need STRIKE forwards.

would be happy with Chambers, not that keen on the the others really.

Not sold on James as a full on Second Row - he does to much dirty work in defence in the middle cleaning up all over the place that would leave us exposed if he were to move, and would probably get burnt too much on outside in that spot with his poor lateral movement

HS - i agree that the centre position has evolved a bit as has the wing position.

If you have a Radradra, Ferguson, Oates who can smash the ball back HARD and at pace, you can get away with a serviceable centre who defends well, runs good lines and has good hands sometimes, also saves cash for other spots.

I think between Peachey, Brenko, Copley - there are no standout centres available that would be so much better than these 3 that you would stump the huge cash it would take.

Chambers at the right price can work for me... but not for too high a price.

I have a slightly different view on the centers. I agree about the evolution but that brings something else into play ... the majority of top tier Cup teams have reasonable centers by the modern standard. If the best the Storm can roll out is Justin Olam then my point should be clear ... we should be pulling players without great skill sets other than having a bit of size, can defend, pass and run a bit then we should be working on any number of young bucks without NRL experience rather than spending for the sake of spending. Let's not forget that we let Kelly, Olive and GL go because we wanted "strike" marquee players and although in Olive's case I get it, the others are a loss. Where were Ramien, Blake, Kata, the Dragons bloke and so many others a season or so ago? I won't even mention Nene ... lol.

Thanks HS for those kind words earlier....
I’d be very nervous if we recruited Chambers. He wouldn’t come cheap and so often as evidenced by Proctor ex-Storm players don’t meet expectations. (Except for Cronk)

Hey bods, the issue with James playing the second row is that our middle defense goes to hell. The problem with playing him in the middle is that our edge defense goes to hell.

If the rumours are true and we are targeting Kahu, Glenn and/or Chambers then my two cents worth is if we can get two it'd be Glenn and Chambers. If it's one then it would be Glenn. At least Glenn can play centre when Copley is out for a few games every few games.

If we want to develop youngsters then put some coin into getting Jamie Lyon in here as a personal coach for them.

I think the Storm, like all clubs, only let go those they can’t use but they’re not all duds eg GI, McLean and Hoffman come to mind.

JB-you state your response like Gus Gould. As in what you say is 100% irrefutable fact.
Potentially we could have starting props Boyd/Wallace with the likes of Mo/Stockwell/King/Boyle/Latu rotating off the bench for them with James at 2nd row. That’s a pretty good front row rotation.
In terms of James defence If he was 2nd row well you could be right but I’d like to see it given a fair chance especially if he was partnered up with Peachey at 5-8 out there and not The Termite. With a decent defender like Peachey standing beside him then that duo might work.
Finally in attack we get to see again the sublime attacking skills of Dark James when he winds up.

Plus we get to have an 80min Captain (if he’s Captain)
