Should replay that game to the first grade squad at the start of pre season. I’m a falcons fan but what Burleigh did was amazing. 6 forced drop outs in the first half, the falcons only had 3 sets in the first half hour, they made an extra 100 tackles in the first half. Burleigh just bullied them

Too old and past his prime although we do need a class Centre so that Watkins can slide across and play in the 2nd row.
Are there any local juniors playing Centre at other clubs that we can bring back like we did with BK?

I thought second row should be your best tackler (after lock) / defensive reader. I dont want watkins anywhere near there anymore

He’s a way better defender than that Knights game.
Also defence in the 2nd row is a different type of defence to in the Centres where you need quicker reactions and more acceleration and speed.

I’ve now said this about 2nd row defence on 3 occasions when I’ve mentioned Watkins sliding to 2nd row.

Am I going to have to continually make this point about the different skill sets between 2nd row defence and Centre defence.

The vast majority of our tries are conceded by the half/5-8/Centres. We go ok in the middle and 2nd row sections.

He plays the right edge also, which is occupied by Proctor who is the top tackler in our team currently. What we really need is a decent specialist left edge and that needs to be someone who can bust the line open. Whatever money we can free up should be thrown there as far as I'm concerned.

I’m not so big on people having to be a left or right edge. I’d like to think Watkins or Proctor could adapt to an edge change.
Watkins was doing a hell of a job in the 2nd row in the SL before he came over here. Anyway I’m sure Holbrook knows his stuff way better than I do (unlike Brennan) so I’ll leave it up to The Saviour.

I would have been fairly keen on Matterson until I read about the way he has carried on recently at the Tigers. We'll see I guess. I think I read that he has a connection with Holbrook, but then Brennan had a connection with the Panthers blokes and we have seen what happened there. We certainly need to improve the squad and beggars can't be choosers.
As for Watkins I do't care whether he players centre, second row, left, right or inside out but from what I saw his best is behind him. Perhaps a full pre season here might help, but again, how many times have we said that about players that have come here.
