^^^ he’s the Termite because he ran to the media and undermined both Henry and LG....not only that he taught Taylor how to do it too

C'mon Bods put aside your Elgey love and think about it logically. It was Hayne who undermined Henry and I do not think that he taught Ash how to do it (do what though? He re-signed with the club even though Tyrone left?).

Tyrone nor Ash ever said that they would walk on the club and destroy it on their way out, they simply expressed their hope of playing alongside each other and Tyrone wanted to play NRL consistently at 5/8. How can you blame him for leaving? He did not leave with any bad blood, he left because we thought Elgey was the answer when he clearly isn't. Also Tyrone undermined Elgey? No Elgey undermined himself through poor performances and inconsistency despite being gifted chance after chance. Love the bloke and wish him the best of luck but unfortunately after the ACL he never reached the ceiling we thought he would reach.

Listen I don't blame you and others for being upset with Elgey being let go, but it was the right call. He is statistically the worst defensive half in the league (a twitter stats page did a table up which ranked every half's defence and he was far down the bottom) and whilst looking after and keeping juniors is important, you can't keep them all just to look at it with roses and sunshine. He didn't fit this clubs plans and we have a LOCAL JUNIOR gem in Brimson on our hands who is so far proving that the 6 jersey is his.

TRob is most definitely not a "termite" and although he's not a star player, I would welcome him back on the cheap to play utility or even half. Not on huge money but it would be good to have him back IMO.

Win rate this with year LG 43%
Win rate this year without LG 27%

Number of chances given to LG this year 1

LG ability to turn around Tweed Heads trainwreck season and Ben Woolfe’s Career 100%

Number of times LG went to media to have a sook about where he wants to play ZERO

When a war is over what always happens is the winners then write up a revisionist history

The winners being the Taylor/Termite crew and backers are doing exactly that

Finally I feel like vomiting my guts up every time I see the same mob that have hunted out an exceptional local talent say “I wish him all the best...”. Own what you did and campaigned for.

And thanks for lowering our win rate from 43% to 27%. We now enjoy a win less than half as often as we used to.

Mr Bods, firstly...I know you have some stuff happening at the moment and I hope that all turns out well.

Now...what do you mean by, went to the media to have a sook? Do you honestly believe that TR and AT arranged interviews to "whinge" about where they wanted to play in order to put pressure on the club??

Mate take off your rose coloured glasses. Our winning rate has nothing to do with Elgey, and is 43% really such a thing to be boasting about? And him turning around Ben Woolfe's career hahaha c'mon that's stretching it.

Geez there's never been a player who in the media has said that he wants to play a particular position is there. Oh wait...75% of players do. Players leave for first grade opportunities all the time whether it is for more minutes or just to get in the 1-17. You are acting like he left and rubbished the club and slandered us in the media. He left on good terms, went to England to give it a crack and is now coming back with his family.

But oh yes let's have a cry about losing a local junior who had more than 1 chance - he had 2017 and 2018 to prove he owned that jersey but continued to miss tackles and make poor decisions - but not focus on the arguably more talented AJ Brimson who is shining and in my eyes has well and truly done enough to prove he is the one for the 6 jersey. Yes he has things to work on but I and several former greats of the game for what it's worth see him achieving great things.

Bods love your contribution to the forum, respect your opinion and hope your personal stuff works out for the best, but there is no use coming on this thread and whinging and whining about the same thing over and over. Elgey is gone and that's that.

^^^ I’m struggling to let it go with LG I admit it. It’s a bit to me like how it was for a number of people when Mead got the rissole.
Been driving all day just got home. Hoping in a day or two am on an even keel.

I need to try and remind people that at a junior and QCup level
Brimson displayed a hell of a lot more as a Fullback. Brennan if he sees him as a 5-8 long term I think is doing AJ and us a disfavour.
I like it that Brennan got on the front foot and said a Roberts return would be as a utilityZ
When Cleary was injured earlier this year Peachey easily played his best footy at 5-8.

So I think the key positions next year need to be
    1 AJ
    6 Peachey
    7 Taylor
    9 Peats
    17 TRoberts (if he comes)

What the frig are we going to do with CartWrong now he’s declared himself as committed. I cannot find a spot for him even if he got his act together.

Fair enough Bods and some players hurt more than others to lose.

I'm not sure about Brimson at FB though after seeing what he has produced over the last month or so. As the weeks have gone on he has really grown into the 5/8 role and has started to look like he can control the game and team, and he is making smarter decisions. Yes his long kicking game needs work but his running game is awesome and he reminds me of pre-injury/off field problems Kieran Foran. Just tucks the ball under his wing and always threatens the line. His defence is also excellent in the front line and his cutout ball was beautiful vs Newcastle. Still needs work on his game and may well be a FB long term (a lot can happen over an off season or in 12 months time) but does anyone think he may well be a solid 5/8?

Just as a side note, I don't think there was any bad blood between Ash, Kane and Tyrone. In fact I saw them several times together at the Casino, which I thought was strange due to what was being written in the papers at the time. They appeared very friendly towards each other and arrived and left together.

bods how aure are you on AJ playing mostly at 1 for 20s?

i thought he was prominently a half, and named in the NRL NYC team of the year in the halves?

im not 100% so its not a loaded question - i just think i recall he did most of his stuff in the 6/7 in NYC and did play Q cup mainly at Fullback for 6 or so games.

I think the last 2 games he has shown something, before that it was just effort and intensity without a lot of class. Hopefully he keeps going. He might be the Blake Green type grafter we need to keep us direct and moving forwards, kicking smartly etc.

In the 20s he started at FB when he was like 17 and looked so dynamic despite being way too little, then in the last year at that level he was Half mainly to accomodate TRD and Sami at FB.

Then he was totally being groomed at QCup level at FB until he got the call up.

HS/mdrew May have more accurate data to add or correct to what I’m saying.

Finally, I’ve always been much more excited by him when watching him play at FB.

Hey Bodsie, I suggest you don’t call out everybody who wishes Elgey good luck as some sort of death rider. I for one am unhappy to see him go but wish him all the best.

Taylor an elgey were never going to gell because theyre both essentially lead players. Both are more than capable of calling the shots but taylor was clearly better at it. Taylor needs a mature half beside him like maloney to cleary, and pearce to watson, really think if elgey is going to go to the dogs then we should see if we can get foran for cheap, if his toe clears up nice and he can get some confidence back in his game he would be a good experienced option beside taylor and take some pressure off him

God no....not Foran, if he came here they'll dredge up all the betting and match fixing fiasco just because he's a Titan.

Taylor needs to stand on his own two feet and earn his pay regardless of who's playing next to him.

    Hahaha.

& yes - I agree with this and am always concerned when this is used as justification for the return of T-Rob.
