Feels like a new dawn ... also very happy to sign-up again and this time the whole family.

Ps. Nobody has commented on Kelly's black eye ... the euphoria hasn't worn off on the Forum yet must have been a hard negotiation.

I'm very happy to see them get the club. It's great to see many people already commenting about coming back to the club or happily renewing. I feel like the blinkers can come off, the hands off attitude of the club since 2007 can end and we can all get involved in this project to make build the Titans.

Watt will be an excellent chairman, and he brings intimate knowledge of the Brisbane market, something we need to have a slice and something I've just witnessed melting away year on year. I am also happy to see that he will be hands on in an executive chairman role.

More announcements aren't far away and I am excited.

New owners will bring stability to Titans: Sattler
    https://www.nrl.com/

The new owners of the Gold Coast Titans will give the club stability and a road map for the future in the short term, but have plenty of work to do to make the club a success, according to Scott Sattler.

In the wake of the NRL awarding the club's ownership licence to the Rebecca Frizelle-Darryl Kelly consortium, Sattler – a former Gold Coast player and the Titans' inaugural general manager of football – believed the future would be more stable.

"In the initial stages the new owners will offer stability and a road map for the club's short-term future," Sattler told NRL.com

"When the NRL owned it, there was no road map because it was just in a holding pattern.

"But success will only come when you have a top-four team and unfortunately when that doesn't happen on the Gold Coast there is always going to be another event or something else on the calendar people will consider worthwhile going to.

"You have your hardcore 5000 to 6000 supporters who are going to turn up rain, hail or shine.

"But it is not until you get a top-four side that people will sit up and take notice. You have to capture people's attention on the Gold Coast."

"But it is not until you get a top-four side that people will sit up and take notice. You have to capture people's attention on the Gold Coast."

Sattler's famous father John was part of the consortium which started the Gold Coast-Tweed Giants in 1988. Scott played for the Chargers and Seagulls before playing a major role in recruitment and helping the Titans getting off the ground in 2007.

To create the success the Titans crave, Sattler is adamant the new owners must appoint a recruitment manager as a matter of urgency.

"They have to get together with the head coach and CEO and sign a smart and astute recruitment manager to look after the top end recruiting all the way down to the exceptional 16, 17 and 18-year-olds that are going to be the future of the club," he said.

"I think that is what the Gold Coast has been missing. A lot of their signings have been on a wing and a prayer and due to relationships with (player) managers.

"But they need to be really strategic about their recruitment and the person who oversees all that must be on the same page with the coach and the owners."

Sattler said the club's original recruitment strategy targeted Scott Prince, Luke Bailey, Mat Rogers and Preston Campbell.

"We identified those four key marquee players who other players want to play alongside, so they become recruiting weapons themselves," he said.

"We also wanted to recruit guys who had previously played footy on the Gold Coast like Luke O'Dwyer and Anthony Laffranchi.

"On top of that we identified an impressive group of 16- to 18-year-olds like Will Matthews, David Mead, Bodene Thompson, Kevin Gordon and Ryan James who you want to be 10- or 12-year players at your club."

In February of 2015 the NRL terminated the Titans' licence due to a dire financial situation and took over the running of the club itself.

Frizelle remained as chair of the board after the takeover until resigning recently to focus on her ownership aspirations with Kelly, who had previously sunk $5 million into the Titans in a bid to save the club from financial disaster. Kelly had also stepped down from his position on the board.

Sattler said a lot of fans on the Gold Coast became disillusioned with the Titans during the club's slide on and off the field following the success of 2009 and 2010.

"As an owner, you must have a deep emotional attachment to the club that you own, which Rebecca Frizelle and Darryl Kelly both have," he said.

"The Frizelle Group has been involved since day one with the Gold Coast Titans and done everything they can to support the club.

"Darryl Kelly was the guy willing to stick up and fight for the club when no-one else believed in it.

"When you are an owner you have to wear so many hats and understand how an operation works. They are both good operators with their own companies, so they also tick that box."

MT-You have no more excuses to not sign up other than bankruptcy now.

Everything has gone fantastic this summer.
If Brennan is happy with Condon then I’ll leave him alone.

    BUT.....
Calamity Annesley-his time is up. He needs to go. We need a generational change in the CEO position.

Executive Chairman > CEO so there is something bubbling there you'd have to think. Bloody Sattler sticks his friggin' nose in whenever and wherever he can ... and generally full of negativity. Ikin and Sattler should both be struck from the Titans Christmas card list.

Taylor says ownership decision now shines spotlight on players to put Gold Coast Titans on the map
    http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/

GOLD Coast superstar halfback Ash Taylor says the Titans will have all the resources they need to be an NRL force under their new ownership – now it’s the players’ jobs to put the club “on the map”.

Players yesterday met at Parkwood with Rebecca Frizelle and Darryl Kelly, the faces of the consortium who have won the rights to buy the Titans licence.

The duo are familiar faces around the club as long-time key role holders and their appointment has been hailed as a big win by the playing group.

“Just a bit of an outline about the future of the Gold Coast Titans … it was exciting,” cult hero winger Anthony Don said of the meeting.

Don was relieved the club’s brand and location is safe after being threatened by lucrative bids from groups including the North Sydney Bears.

“It’s good that our future is protected and we are going to stay on the Gold Coast,” he said.

“There were a few rumours about other people moving it so yeah happy to stay.

“Hopefully we can be a team that the Gold Coast can be proud of.”

Taylor, who is on a marquee contract until the end of 2021, echoed his teammate’s sentiments by saying the onus was on the players now that the Titans’ ownership and staffing is sorted.

“It’s just all falling into place now so we have just got to make sure that we’re giving everything back to them as well on the field,” he said.

“They’re going to do everything they can off the field to make us a better team and we have just got to make sure that we go out on the weekends and win games.

“We want to put the Gold Coast Titans on the map.”

Taylor says he’s found Frizelle and Kelly good to deal with in his two years at the club.

“Obviously Darryl ran the club a few years ago and I’ve seen him around the club a little bit because he was on the board,” he said.

“Same with Rebecca, she is a lovely lady and I get along well with her so it’s good to see her and say hello when I get the chance to.”

New chairman Dennis Watt is also somewhat a familiar face for Taylor from their time at the Brisbane Broncos previously.

Christmas lunch mate. The beers had the priority call.
Yep great news on the ownership. Doesn't hide the fact that in my opinion we have a very average side on paper at the moment but I'm hoping for some additions now.

Don’t agree with your take on Annesley. He can only play the cards he’s given and being hamstrung by a number of factors over the past 3 years, he has had to be bloke to do all the dirty work. Watt and he have a very good relationship and he holds him in very high regard like many others in senior positions within the code.

With all the good news we’ve had the last month , time to jump on board and enjoy the positives - they’ve been scarce in recent times. It’s all too easy to find the negative in anything, that’s what we as humans do by nature. Focussing on what lays ahead for us is where I’m at - it’s way sweeter.

    I just can’t wait until 2018.

Agree. I fear what might have happened the last few years if we DIDNT have Annesley.

A steady ship in often raging waters, usually not of his doing.

Let him help transition the new sponsorship, owners, coach etc and then we can re evaluate down the track.

I think your judgment on Annesley is alittle but knee jerk mate. Annesley has negotiated us through all the muddy waters that we have been through over the past 3-4 years and cleaned up all the back of house mess that was left by Searle. Every time it looked like he was getting clear water some fire would pop up and he would have to put it out. Annesley hasn’t really had a equal since Canavan to let him just run the club and get the high level stuff sorted. With Watt that should ease the burden on Annesley.
