    Ladbrokes join as jersey sponsor

The Aquis Gold Coast Titans will have leading international and online betting agency Ladbrokes branded on our playing jersey for Sunday’s Telstra Premiership opener against Newcastle Knights at Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday.

Ladbrokes will join the Titans’ corporate family as sleeve and lower back sponsor as part of a valuable partnership just in time for our 2016 campaign.

Ladbrokes entered the Australian market in 2013 and have continued to grow rapidly and are regarded as leading innovators in the industry.

Aquis Gold Coast Titans CEO Graham Annesley today described the partnership with Ladbrokes as “incredibly important for the future success of the Titans both on and off the field”.

“The Ladbrokes brand internationally is older than the game of Rugby League itself with over 130 years of history behind it,” he said.

“We are very excited to be joining forces with such a major well-established multi-national brand that shares the Titans vision for future growth and success.

“Sponsorship is incredibly important to our club with the associated revenue helping to ensure we can provide as many resources as possible to Neil Henry and the players to give them the best possible chance of success.

“In return, I have no doubt the Titans association will assist Ladbrokes continue to raise the profile of their brand in Australia and increase market share.

“Both Ladbrokes and the Titans are absolutely committed to only promoting responsible gambling and ensuring the integrity of sports is protected at all times.”

Ladbrokes Australia chief marketing officer Simon Jarvis responded:

“Ladbrokes are delighted to partner with the Titans for the 2016 NRL season,” Jarvis said

“It should be a record breaking season and, as a proud Queensland-based business, the Titans deal further cements our strong position in this market.

“The Gold Coast region is important to our ambitions as we continue to evolve and grow our brand and reach new customers.

“We're very optimistic that our brand association will yield mutually

Great move to have such a iconic brand. I suppose I shouldn't pass-up the opportunity to ask: "have they framed odds on who will own us in 2017?".

All the extra sponsors that we get are a step towards having the club at a break even prospect.

I didn't really realise that they were a big brand. Great to see.

We need a full sponsorship stable and then make it desirable.

Ladbrokes are the type of organisation to become the major sponsor if we treat them right. League holds more betting money than any other Australian sport so companies like Ladbrokes want any leverage they can get.

bit of clarification over our new sponsors

Gold Coast Titans dump Global Road Technologies as sponsor as company linked to Indian scam

A GOLD Coast company linked to the world’s largest Ponzi scheme has been dumped from the jerseys of the Gold Coast Titans after defaulting on a six-figure sponsorship contract.

Global Road Technologies created a joint venture three years ago with Pearls Group in India, whose four executives have been taken into custody over $10 billion it raised from 50 million investors.

Bundall-based MiiGroup, which is formerly known as Pearls Australasia and owns the Sheraton Resort, has also been linked to the Indian allegations.

GRT, which is based at Yatala, had sponsored the top back of the Titans jersey for the 2015-16 seasons, but the club pulled the pin before the first game last week.

The company was last night still boasting of its sponsorship, claiming they “bleed blue and yellow” and hinting at a possible GRT Titans mascot.

“As major sponsor GRT have back-of-jersey real-estate. Each and every game of the season, the Titan boys carry the weight of their fans and GRT on their shoulders,” the website said.

“Truly part of the Titan’s team, GRT are also involved in game day activations and half time activities. There’s also talk of a new GRT mascot being born to support the boys from the sideline.”

The Bulletin understands the company had not paid the sponsorship fees for several months and owed up to $100,000.

CEO Graham Annesley could not provide specific details of the contract, but said they had replaced the sponsorship easily with web-based holiday company Trip a Deal.

“Unfortunately GRT defaulted on their obligations under the contract and we made the decision to terminate the arrangement,” he said.

“It was a matter of timing and good luck that we had a call out of the blue from an agent asking if we had any (sponsorship) properties for his brand.

“For once all of the pieces in the puzzle fell into place for us.”

Mr Annesley said the Titans now had a full book of apparel sponsors, following the signing of Ladbrokes last month.

Federal trade agency Austrade has come under fire for introducing Australian businesspeople to Pearls in 2009, and has also spruiked GRT as a success story on their government website.

An article with about GRT “reaping increased export success after participating in the Australia Business Week in India mission held earlier this year” had been taken down from the site yesterday, but remained in cached web searches.

I got these guys out to quote on dust suppression for a 7 acre block of land. From what I could tell the Australian contingent was two qualified guys. Their quote came back almost 4 times of anyone elses, we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars compared with about $30K. I was happy to try and support a Titans sponsor but that was ridiculous. We support TFH though.

Now this really pisses me off and has for years.

Our sport needs to take a hell of a lot more responsibility in partnering with companies.

Companies do this to get credibility and a profile and then use that to further their interests. It can also be used for ill to give the impression of credibility.

And what about our responsibility to supporters? Sponsoring a team has a powerful effect because of people's attachment to clubs. What happens if someone purchases or invests in a company due to a sponsorship and loses out?

I'm not attacking the Titans, Im sure they probably felt like they did enough. But the sport in general. There is a literal graveyard of dodgy sponsors in our sport's history and I am sick of it.

Gold Coast Titans back in favour with sponsors who have committed $10 million in past year
    http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/sport/nrl

GOLD Coast Titans chief executive Graham Annesley believes profitability is on the horizon following $10 million worth of sponsorship deals in the past year.

In a sign of how far the club has come, it can be revealed their newest key sponsor, Trip a Deal, played a significant role in keeping rising halfback Kane Elgey at the club.

A marquee player allowance involving the web-based travel company was critical to the Gold Coast junior’s *re-signing.

Annesley said it showed how businesses were now prepared to go “above and beyond the call of duty” to see the *Titans succeed.

“Sponsors aren’t required to do that but they all want to see us successful and the guys at Trip a Deal were very, very happy to do what they could to help us try to keep Kane,” *Annesley said.

It’s a considerable difference to this time last year, when few companies dared to put their logo on the club’s blue-and-gold playing strip.

The struggling Titans had a charity splashed across the jersey’s centre but 12 months later, there is not one space left for purchase on their apparel.

“Twelve months ago it was very, very hard to find partners that wanted to get on board with us,” Annesley said.

“But in 12 months that’s turned around almost completely and we’ve now got *people coming to us wanting to get involved, which is great.”

In that period, naming rights sponsor Aquis has led an accumulated $10 million drive – committed over varying time frames, primarily one or two years.

Chairwoman Rebecca Frizelle said the figure was evidence of the club’s turnaround in perception across the local community.

“There is no denying that we have experienced challenging times, however during this period, our Full House program resulted in 3500 new members,” she said.

“I think that our sponsorship results further underpin the positive perception of our club.”

The series of deals have put the Titans in perhaps the best financial state in the club’s history, with balancing the books now genuinely a foreseeable prospect.

“I don’t think it will be this year but we’re one of 13 clubs that won’t break even this year,” Annesley told the Bulletin.

“We’ve got a budget that we’re working to and our *financial position becomes better based on our projections each year.

“By the time we get to 2018 when the new funding deal kicks in from the NRL, we should be a club that doesn’t require any external funding whatsoever and that we’re competitive with other clubs in terms of how much we can spend on trying to put the best possible football team out on the field.”

On top of Aquis and Trip a Deal, the likes of betting agency Ladbrokes have recently come on board to book a spot on the team’s NRL uniform, further proving the club has found renewed appeal in the corporate sector.
