Winning the majority of games will bring back some, no doubt. But it's going to be a long road before we see the numbers that we did in the early years. We had a excellent squad with some big names that were performing and producing exciting footy. Also, they were better times financially for the working class. I won't go into detail to the rot that has happened off-field that has shot us in the foot. So yeah, there's a few factors like that, that will be a bit of a stumbling block for some time.
IIRC, a few years back. There was a figure put out there that we needed 22k people to rock up to break even each home game. I could be wrong, but I do believe it was in the vicinity of that figure. So I guess the club will be bleeding dollars for some time.
As for a traveling fan base, Panthers, Raiders, Knights, Storm, Tigers and ourselves are known to be pretty ordinary in that department, and it seems we'll be seeing a few of them twice this year.
I love to be optimistic, but I'm struggling to see many positives out of this draw. Also, I will be getting the basic membership for the kids and myself this year, but there's no home games that I'll be enthused about turning up to. At this stage, the Dragons game is the only one that mildly interests me. I hope you're right about the WINNING theory, T4L. But the squad has got to step up a fair bit from this years performance to even to begin to get into that realm.

Know where you are coming from Toads but I am happy to turn up to any home game we have a chance of winning and I really don't care who that is against. Of course I prefer the big drawing sides playing us but I am happy to sacrifice atmosphere for wins. Lets face it the big drawing sides usually sound like they are home games for the opposition so I am ok with less people in exchange for wins which hopefully will boost our home crowds.
Mind you just falling into the 8 will not boost crowds as that usually means you lose nearly as many games as you win and that is not enough to convince the fence sitters.
I'm glad we still got the loyal ones like yourself, MT. But I guess I've been disappointed too many times in recent years. To make the 8+ hour round trip just to see a fairly ordinary game has taken it's toll.
If I was still on the Coast I'm sure I wouldn't feel the way I do about it these days, and I'd be there every second week like yourself (regardless).
I'll be at every home game that is not played at 3pm Saturday afternoon, up at Suncorp and at Shark Park for the Sunday game in April. Saying the games will be mediocre is probably painting them in an overly positive light, but I'll be there nonetheless as I always am.
