I'm still in hope of a Jamie Lyon or Greg Inglis miracle....

Also as a basketball supporter Gold Coasters were so hard done by when the Blaze got scrapped.
Kicked out after playing the game before a Grand Final and now all our old players are killing it across the league........

Anyways that's for another forum but still makes me mad.

The NRL doesn't care if fans dislike a certain team, all that matters is that the club is in a position to be economically stable, other than that, if we succeed or not, that comes to the management and coach. We're fine. Don't worry yourself over a couple of idiots who want us gone
Agreed! In regards to people questioning our place in the comp remember the ****show which was the cowboys first 10 years! Then again even more recently when they were running "middle of the pack" the club saw huge declines in average attendances to cowboys home games. Queue last year and you have record crowds again.

Now I am in no way saying we are anything like the cowboys they are far more talented and have the best halves and props in the game but fact of the matter is if the club is winning the crowds will begin to come (in qld anyway). The way I see this year is that we have already been written off by everyone before a ball has been played so not to quote a past dud coach but right now we need a siege mentality. Im hoping we surprise all the detractors by playing some great football with a roster full of inexperience and journeymen so we at least look like a more attractive club on the rise in 17. If we make the 8 then that would be soooo satisfying but god with this roster it will be a challenge but we have alot of potential across the park

One day our time will come but it will be a lengthy process. We are still recovering from years of Cartwright + Searle management. Cowboys finished with the spoon 3 times in their first 5 years and didn't make the top 8 (or whatever based on number of teams). Like you said, we are completely different to the Cowboys.

But I have no doubt we will be there one day. Nobody thought the Cowboys ever would in those early times.

SEVEN months ago if you asked Neil Henry who his halves would be for 2016, a smile might have crept across his face.

The thought of coaching a 6 and 7 combination of Kane Elgey and Daly Cherry-Evans is enough to make any coach salivate.

Two of the best young playmakers in the game lining up side by side, with some speedy backs on the outside and a solid forward pack in between.

Fast forward to today, and Henry’s faced with an entirely unexpected scenario.

DCE famously backflipped on his lucrative Titans deal, and Elgey this week ruptured a ligament in his knee to put an end to his 2016.

Ashley Taylor, the injured Kane Elgey, and Tyrone Roberts.
It’s left Henry with a rather bare cupboard, and his likely halves pairing is far from threatening.

Rookie playmaker Ashley Taylor has a heap of talent but is untried at NRL level, and Tyrone Roberts was hardly inspiring at Newcastle before being punted by the Knights.

Roberts has 97 NRL games under his belt and will need to adopt a leadership role within the team, becoming the dominant playmaker after four years beside Jarrod Mullen.

The losses of Elgey and James Roberts can not be understated, and it leaves the Titans with very little star power in the roster.

The starting forward pack looks solid, with a couple of Origin representatives included, but overall the team lacks punch.

It’s not hard to see why Gold Coast is an early favourite for the wooden spoon.

Throughout January Fox Sports will be previewing your team’s best 17 players. As always, there will be some contentious decisions — and some unlucky omissions. Scroll down and leave a comment to have your say. (Note: These line ups don’t take into account current injuries or suspensions).

    LOCKS

Josh Hoffman, David Mead, Will Zillman, Tyrone Roberts, Luke Douglas, Nathan Friend, David Shillington, Ryan James, Chris McQueen, Greg Bird.

Tyrone Roberts trains with the Titans.
    RISING STAR

    Karl Lawton

The injury to half Kane Elgey could just open the door for this 20-year-old to finally make his NRL debut. While Lawton primarily plays hooker, he is just as adapt in the halves and could become part of Neil Henry’s rotation with fellow rookie Ashley Taylor and the more experienced Tyrone Roberts. If Henry wants to play small, he might even find a spot for Lawton on the bench, giving him the option of filling in at rake for veteran Jake Friend. (think this should be nathan )

    THE BUBBLE

    Kierran Moseley

A lot depends on how the Titans adjust to the new interchange rules in 2016 and whether they want to carry a back-up hooker on the bench as they did in 2015.

If that’s the case, Moseley will be there.

He played 16 games for the Titans in 2015 including 10 from the bench, making an average of 30 tackles per game.

The 21-year-old also set up four tries, made six tackle breaks and two line breaks for a solid first season in the top grade.

    IT’S A BIG YEAR FOR ...

    Ashley Taylor

The Toowoomba prodigy was stuck behind a couple of future Queensland halves at the Broncos and moved to the Gold Coast for an opportunity. Kane Elgey’s unfortunate injury this week has opened the door for Taylor to cement his spot in the NRL side. If the 20-year-old playmaker is guaranteed the No. 6 jumper he can enjoy a full season in the top grade, barring any more horror finger injuries.

    GOLD COAST’S BEST 17

    1 Josh Hoffman

    2 David Mead

    3 Will Zillman

    4 Nene Macdonald

    5 Anthony Don

    6 Ashley Taylor

    7 Tyrone Roberts

    8 Luke Douglas

    9 Nathan Friend

    10 David Shillington

    11 Ryan James

    12 Chris McQueen

    13 Greg Bird

    14 Eddy Pettybourne

Half/5-8. Looks like he has played for Australia at school boy level. Must of been brought in to help cover the halves.

    Titans Sign Former Broncos Half

Titans have negotiated a train and trial deal with former Broncos half Cameron Cullen. He has been brought in apparently to substitute an injured half, but for now the halves remain as Taylor and Roberts from what we have heard.
I have never heard of Cullen, anyone know if he's decent?

The result will see the Titans boast a more than respectable front row rotation of James, former Queensland representative David Shillington, the consistent Luke Douglas and perhaps even Manly up-and-comer Josh Starling.

With 47 NRL games under his belt, 25-year-old Starling is said to be in talks to head north to the Gold Coast. Titans coach Neil Henry had said earlier this week rising props, as well as a quality centre to replace James Roberts, were high on their recruitment radar.

Really hope we can get Starling and maybe even Perrett. Two guys that would help add some punch and depth to our front row. So our prop rotation will likely be Douglas + Shillo starting, James +Starling (if we sign him)/Pettybourne off the bench.

Our main concern on top of that should be centres though. However, if you have great forwards, you don't need star centres (as the Cowboys proved).
