Default Country selectors put Mead in his place

Exactly where he should be. Fullback.

It's a kick in the teeth for James to be named on the bench for the country side

Well done to Jimmy Roberts making the City side on the wing

yeah good stuff to all involved. good to see country coach remembered Dave's stormer of a game last year.

we cant very well change a winning wide, but if hoof / tp ever get injured, Meady would be even better at FB in this current style of team than he went last year when we were dreadful. just so much space to play around in.

will enjoy this match more than the test probably.

Good work to Meady and co. Not a fan of the City and Country clash as I am a Queenslander but will definitely watch this one to see how Jimmy, James and Meady go.

Not a fan of CvC, especially when it takes players away from the Pacific Tests.

But I remember well last year with Mead and good to see him playing #1 again.

Hang on a second, are you saying that Mead will play in City v Country instead of representing Papua New Guinea in a test??

not sure if your being sarcastic or not, but in case you arent, he played obviously for country last year too, and has declared NSW for eligibility, and wont pay for PNg again

Teke can probably say more about why.

Feedback from NSW selectors is good for him to play a 1 off national test that wipes out his chances at other rep jerseys for the yrs leading up to the next World Cup.

Good on all the lads for making it and I think James off the bench is okay and fitting reward, he'll get lots of minutes ... he's been building up to the great game he had last weekend but hasn't been in exactly stellar form until then.

On the CvC thing, I reckon that CvC in both Qld and NSW in at least three grades (Open, Residents and U20) should be played in a stand alone weekend before Origin (other countries players can have trials) and the Test stand alone weekend (with other countries) after Origin, especially as it's not being played on ANZAC Day ... I am not the first to suggest this but strongly support it.

Mead played very well today IMO. Best game he's played all year.

He looked a lil gassed at times in the game, he would have played better if he was FB match fit, still ran 160 mtrs.
