    Default Kierran Moseley player discussion

    Titan Moseley on the rise

AS MUCH as Gold Coast’s cocaine scandal has hurt the NRL club, there have been some unexpected opportunities created by the Titans’ unrest.

With reigning player of the year and starting hooker Beau Falloon stood down as he faces drug charges, Cloncurry recruit Kierran Moseley has been thrown straight into the No.9 jersey at his new club.

The 20-year-old played just his third NRL game in last week’s round two clash against Penrith – the club he left to join the Titans.

It wasn’t a happy encounter for Moseley with the Titans thrashed 40-0.

But Moseley’s rise hasn’t just been in the NRL with the Titans, with a shock call-up to the Indigenous All-Stars team for the season curtain-raiser also still bringing a smile to his face.

He said having the chance to spend the week alongside Indigenous idols such as Johnathan Thurston and Greg Inglis had taught him plenty.

‘‘It’s great. A great opportunity for me to try and make my mark, at a young age as well,’’ he said.

‘‘I’m just embracing it all, going about my footy and trying to do the best I can each week to try and stay in that 17.’’

Titans skipper Nate Myles says he sees plenty to like in Moseley, although he doesn’t believe the youngster has shown his best form by any means.

‘‘He was fantastic last weekend and I think he’s going to get more of a feel of what NRL’s like,’’ Myles said.

‘‘He’s up to it mate. He’s a fantastic kid, fantastic football player and for us guys out there we need to make sure we do the best we can to make him comfortable.

‘‘He’s got a good footy brain. I don’t think he’s showing any of us what he is capable of football-wise. He’s a good thinker and hopefully we get to see more of it soon.’’

Moseley has been named on the bench for the Titans clash with Newcastle on Sunday.

He should own the 80 minutes x #9 jersey for many years to come.
Four reasons to escape to Queensland: Sun, Surf, Sand & the Titans.

I'm really excited about him and think he will really come on into a classy 9.
