Default Henry: A year of opportunity

Foundation player Luke O'Dwyer sat down with head coach Neil Henry for an extensive interview about his challenge, philosophies and the upcoming season.

    - - - Updated - - -

An interesting interview. Henry says Beau Falloon has been a leader at training and that Whitey has been impressing so far.

The best news for me is his comments on Fogarty, Hazard and Elgey. King says they have been very talkative. Good to see some of our young blokes getting involved in the team. Hopefully they will bring that into games if given the chance. Glad to hear Hala has been training hard and has lost some weight

He says the trialists such as Ingram, Sironen, Li and Paasi are digging in and trying their best to be offered a contract.

It was very interesting. There is apparently a part 2 coming soon so will keep my eyes open for that.

Great insight I like how Henry doesn't beat around the bush seems to be a straight shooter

Yeah he can say things and get his point across tactfully without tearing shreds off blokes. Certainly more refreshing than the "we are taking it one week at a time" type of comment. The players are accountable and should know where they stand with him.

Exactly Mexican Titan seems the players know have to take some accountability which is something Cartwright never installed

so true lonegull. it was always carty and the players versus the world. everyone felt protected which is good to a degree, but then the players need to earn that protection and loyalty. many didnt.

No mention of Khan Ahwang, is he still on board?

I don't believe he is - looks like they opted to take Leva Li through to the trial stages as opposed to Ahwang or Broadhurst

NOt much in that really. I think the question that should be asked is "what will the team do differently from last season?"

    Not much..

Maybe I'm in a super negative mood today, but startin' to wonder if we'll be hobbled (on field) by ongoing management issues. While Searle is still there, that black cloud will remain overhead (I tend to think).

I'm of the understanding that our playing style is going to be entirely different from what the coaching staff have said... Is that what you guys mean? I can fetch the articles if need be. If I'm on the wrong boat then my apologies

He's back training with Burleigh , has a back injury (telling the players he has) but was still kicking the pill 60+ meters on the fly
