Well, it's good enough to being 10:30am for my liking. Have we any news yet?

It is a $15k fine which is also fair. Good on the club for having the guts to step up and not tolerate this sort of stuff. He commited a breach at the wrong time when we are looking for sponsors and trying to look professional. At least now he can concentrate on his footy.

James Roberts fined $3k. Annersely said the Bird decision had to happen as the club has 'standards'.

Titans sanction Bird and Roberts
Fri 12th December, 10:00AM
The Board of the Gold Coast Titans has approved sanctions to be imposed on Greg Bird and James Roberts as a result of significant brand and reputational damage suffered by the club arising from recent incidents of unacceptable public behaviour by both players.
In both cases the players breached the Titans Code of Conduct and the NRL Code of Conduct which they are legally bound to comply with at all times under the terms of their NRL playing contracts.
Titans Chief Executive Officer, Graham Annesley said today, “Whilst the circumstances of these incidents are serious enough alone to warrant club imposed sanctions, the details pale into insignificance compared to the damage done to the club’s standing in the community at a time when the Board and management are doing everything possible to rebuild the Titans brand and ensure the long term sustainability of the club.
“All players need to accept personal responsibility for their actions and recognise that incidents of this nature not only damage the reputation and commercial prospects of the club, but also bring the image of the NRL and the game of Rugby League into substantial disrepute”, Annesley added.
The Titans Disciplinary Committee gave both players the opportunity to explain their actions and whilst Greg and James expressed remorse, the committee formed the strong view that the damage inflicted on the club and the game leaves no alternative but to send a clear message that any reoccurrence may place the continuation of their contracts with the club in jeopardy.
The Board has approved the following sanctions:
Greg Bird:
A fine of $15,000 To be deducted from his 2015 salary
Ineligibility for selection as team captain effective immediately
Formal notice that any further breaches of the NRL Code of Conduct during the remaining term of his contract may be viewed as grounds for termination by the club
James Roberts:
A fine of $3,000 To be deducted from his 2015 salary
An independent assessment to determine any required rehabilitation programs
Formal notice that any further breaches of the NRL Code of Conduct during the remaining term of his contract may be viewed as grounds for termination by the club

Yup, Pretty fair well thought out outcome for Birdy's indiscretion. I don't think I could've come up with a better solution..
Don't be so humble old mate, we know they still tie them to the mast and flog them up where you are ... and I can promise you we have a better solution over here ... the 'now you see them, now you don't solution' where you just quietly disappear to a camp in far western provinces for re-educating.

Well, at least their a bit PC over your way. The Death Buses dont sound too bad, compared to being whipped within a inch of your life 'n pushed into the river thereafter.
lol ... the other very good thing they have over here, is the death penalty where they don't mess around with the cost of lethal injections and doctors and witnesses and so on, just the price of one bullet at close range.

Roberts' charges were dropped. That's a bit harsh.
Most of us here thought losing the captaincy was the right option and I think it will be a blessing in disguise. Fortunately the Titans have Nate Myles on this years membership cards not both 2014 captains. The 15k fine is fair enough as well.
As for Roberts, even though the charges were dropped, he probably needed a warning shot and 3k fine is fair enough.
