The first Intrust Super Cup game to be played in the peanut capital of Australia is set to be a cracking one, with fierce feathered rivals the Tweed Heads Seagulls and the Wynnum Manly Seagulls to face off in Kingaroy. While both sides are seemingly on track to play finals, a loss here could potentially add some pressure, with the PNG Hunters closing in fast. Last weekend, the Wynnum side posted a big 44-10 victory over the Dolphins, while the Northern Pride ended Tweed’s impressive run of 12 games undefeated with their 22-18 win. Tom Merritt is set to return on the wing for the Tweed, with Caleb Binge also included on an extended bench that includes Tom Kingston. Steve Gillett and Chris Piper are the players to make way. Wynnum coach Jon Buchanan has named an unchanged line-up for his team. While in the head-to-head stakes the sides cannot be separated, the Baysiders have won three of the past four games played, including a close match in round 1 where they recorded a 32-28 victory.

‘Dobbo’ says: Kingaroy is the home of some of Queensland’s finest rugby league talent and it will produce a classic match here between two of the Intrust Super Cup’s title contenders. This game is difficult to pick, but I’m leaning towards Tweed with Titans livewire Albert Kelly set to be a late addition. Tweed Heads by 2.
