GOLD Coast Titans coach John Cartwright has quit his role while club co-owner Michael Searle has also resigned from the board.

Cartwright, the team’s inaugural coach, fell on his sword this morning as the Titans face missing the finals for the fourth consecutive year.

Searle, who founded the club and owns 40 per cent of the NRL franchise, has resigned from the board and his role as executive director of football.

It really is make or break for us. From today to the start of next season they need to completely overhaul the club, do some smart recruiting/re-signing and have everything off field in place so we can have a real crack next season otherwise this club will cease to operate. Hopefully we can do it and this has all not come far too late

Im actually excited. We have a huge uphill battle but hopefully our two biggest weights have been unshackled from this club and we can give next year a real go. We cannot afford another year of mediocrity otherwise I dont know if this club will survive. This news will sit well with all supporters of the titans but its only step one. Hopefully they get on with it now and really build this team into the contenders we were supposed to be and start playing some exciting expansive football. Adios Carty and Searle if you want to take Zilly with you feel free!!

This is a big change and more than I'd hoped for if all true. He wouldn't resign as coach in this manner to stay on as football director etc. You'd imagine that would happen differently. ####in yeeeeesssss! I think I can change my name back from 'call me Mr Stupid'.

It probably came down to Neil Henry staying on with the club, in a head coach capacity or leaving for the Dragons. Carty was probably asked to step down and go in to an assistant coach role, he wanted none of it and walked out. News Ltd. are still complete douchebags though, I remember back in 2010 when they were hounding our team over financial issues and then when we made the finals, they were kissing so much ass, **** em.

I'm excited for a new change with possibly Henry as head coach with Kelly and Sezer back with Mead at fullback, Roberts in the Centers along with the forward power of Bird, Taylor, Myles etc.

Edit: I just believe this should have happened at the end of 2013 or at least 2012. Still, it's not too late, we have the talent to do the job.

In a strange way I feel a bit sad for Carty from a human compassion point of view, but this is not to be confused with wanting him to stay. I am glad he is moving on, it's just a shame it took this long and a fan revolt for it to come about in this fashion.
