Roosters

Todd Carney’s sacking yesterday is very likely to have a flow-on effect to another of league’s biggest bad boys – Blake Ferguson.

The Roosters have given Ferguson an off-field role and were keen to bring him into their ranks before today’s June 30 transfer deadline.

The club even released another centre, Tautau Moga, to the Cowboys on the weekend in a bid to clear the decks for Ferguson.

But the NRL is reeling from the Carney atrocity and would be unlikely to play with dynamite today by giving the green light for Ferguson to resume his career less than 24 hours later.

Ferguson has had a series of incidents on his rap sheet including a indecent assault trial.

He may now have to cool his heels and stay out of trouble for the next six months – and hope he gains a clearance to resume his career in 2015.
