Rabbitohs return to WA

South Sydney Rabbitohs will bring two more NRL games to Perth in the next two seasons.

The Rabbitohs, who play the New Zealand Warriors at nib Stadium on Saturday night, are set to sign off on the deal tomorrow after final meetings with VenuesWest.

Discussions were held with the State Government agency, which is taking control of the stadium from Allia Venue Management.

VenuesWest and Allia representatives also met the Canterbury Bulldogs who are set to announce another fixture in Perth next year. The Bulldogs beat Melbourne Storm 40-12 at nib Stadium in March.

The Rabbitohs have played in Perth for the past six seasons and chief executive Shane Richardson said there were no barriers to further fixtures.

"We've got an option in our contract to go another two years and we'll be finalising it while we're over in Perth," he said.

"There's nothing but a positive in Perth for us. We've been able to bring over some great games.

"We love it over there, it's become a home away from home. We have really fitted into a nice groove.

"The players love the city, they really look forward to going over there. It's not a chore, it's a positive to take the game away.

"The people of Perth, right from the word go, accepted us and the game."

Richardson, who has been in charge at the Rabbitohs for 10 years, has been a strong supporter of Perth entering an expanded NRL competition but says the WA Rugby League must be patient.

Expansion talks will be back on the table after the 2014 season.

"There's no question in my mind that Perth is the place to expand but it was never going to be a short-term turnaround," Richardson said.

"When we first started going over Perth was 1000-1 but now when anyone talks about expansion sides they talk about Perth and south-east Queensland.

"I've got no doubt it is going to happen but it's just the timing."

·Ben Te'o admits he has no idea what his future holds after rejecting the option of a third year with Souths and choosing to leave at the end of the season.
