Man, both Morris twins out? ****. They were so vital for the Blues in game 2 along with Hayne and the forwards. Whenever NSW does great in an Origin game, so many injuries keep their good to great players out of the game. IF Qld were to win..wouldn't they feel better beating a full strength NSW team? I want NSW to beat QLD with Slater, Inglis, Smith and Thurston all involved..those guys caused us around 8 years of nightmares.

I change my mind now. NSW will win but it will be very close...something like 11-10.

Slater likely to be out so I would go:
    1. Inglis
    2. Boyd
    3. Chambers
    4. Hodges
    5. Tate
    6. Thurston
    7. DCE
    8. Scott
    9. Smith
    10. Myles
    11. Gillett
    12. Thaiday
    13. Parker

    14. McQueen
    15. Te’o
    16. Guerra
    17. Papalii

    Maroons by 4 my guess.

Honestly don't know how anyone can defend against our left side but Morris twins. With Inglis at the back with more ball in his hand and DCE finally training at halfback (he didn't train at HB for game 1). Don't be so cocky blues fans... you won ONE game only by missed conversions and our halfback hadn't been trained.

Slater with steely focus for Origin II
    By Melissa Woods
    AAP
    7:01pm Mon 02nd June, 2014

Injured Queensland fullback Billy Slater is set on playing in the second State of Origin match even if it means jeopardising his NRL season with the Melbourne Storm.

Slater was amongst a long injury list from last Wednesday night's high-intensity opening clash, described by players from both sides as the most ferocious they had ever encountered.

The 30-year-old suffered a sprained shoulder but said he would do everything he could to be fit for game two on June 18 in Sydney.

When asked if that meant jeopardising his immediate playing future with the Storm, Slater said he would.

"If I could go through 80 minutes and not be a liability for Queensland I'll be playing mate," he said.

Speaking on Monday at the announcement that game two of next year's Origin series will be played at the MCG, Slater was already out of his sling.

His Storm and Queensland teammate Cooper Cronk broke his arm early in Origin I but Slater rated the halfback a chance for game three back in Brisbane on July 9.

"I'm no doctor but I've heard six to eight weeks and eight to 12 weeks so it all comes down to ... what happens in a month," Slater said.

"Knowing Cooper he will be doing everything he can to get it right."

Queensland skipper Cameron Smith, who quickly recovered from an ankle injury to play for the Storm on the weekend, has ruled out moving from hooker to five-eighth with Johnathan Thurston taking over Cronk's halfback jersey.

He said Daly Cherry-Evans, who replaced Cronk, would stay in the role and be better for the run.

"If Daly's fit he'll be in the halves with Johnathan, there's no doubt about that," Smith said.

"Unfortunately Daly didn't get an opportunity to train in the halves at all during the camp, it was more preparing him to get on and play in the ruck."

Smith said his side could take confidence out of getting so close despite the disruption of losing the game's best No.7 after just 10 minutes.

"That's a positive for our team is that we only lost by four points," he said.

"Although NSW was better than us on the night, giving Daly some time to prepare, I think we will a better footy side."

As you do, being a Queenslander. One tends to top up their wardrobe with Maroon gear every so often. Just recently I thought I'd get myself a pair of Qld Retro Shorts.

Anyway, that all went fine until I seen the tag attached to them. As you could imagine I was none to pleased with what was printed on it..

DCE confident knee won't end Origin hopes

Daly Cherry-Evans has set Queensland hearts at ease, confident the knee injury he aggravated in Manly's impressive 32-10 defeat of the Bulldogs will not rule him out of Origin II in twelve days' time.

The Sea Eagles halfback left the field four minutes into the second half after he was taken out in the air by Bulldogs prop Sam Kasiano. He will be sent for scans after he spent the remainder of the match icing the same left knee that he injured in the brutal series opener, which also ruled him out of last week's loss to the Broncos.

But after the match Cherry-Evans was positive about his chances of being fit to fill the Maroons' No.7 jumper as Mal Meninga's men aim to square the series at ANZ Stadium.

    "I'm confident it'll be right," Cherry-Evans said.

"It took a bit of a bump but I think with a bit of recovery and a few days it'll be good.

"I'll rest up and take it easy, and should be sweet."

Manly coach Geoff Toovey was similarly positive about his star halfback's prognosis, which threatened to sour what was otherwise a satisfying night for the Sea Eagles as they returned to the winner's circle in emphatic fashion.

"[Cherry-Evans] hasn't done any more damage but he's just inflamed it a little bit more and it's a little bit sorer than it was pre-match," said Toovey.

"But there's no damage or anything, so hopefully it will settle down in a few days and he'll be right to play.

"Our doctor's have assessed it and our physios have assessed it and they said there's no more damage."

The Manly coach was adamant the challenge from Kasiano, which was placed on report, was illegal, but refused to comment further on the ugly 44th minute incident.

Toovey also confirmed there was little concern for captain Jamie Lyon, who left the field late in the match with a hamstring strain that should not see him miss any game time for the Sea Eagles.

The five tries to two victory brings Manly level with the Bulldogs on 18 competition points at the top of the ladder, though after the match Toovey said he wasn't completely happy with the outcome, claiming the Bulldogs had illegally slowed down the ruck without sanction from referees Gerard Sutton and Gavin Morris.

"(NRL Referee's boss) Tony Archer's got some work to do," said Toovey.

"You talk about the ruck, they just wrestled the hell out of us and no-one did anything about it.

"It's something that they said they were going to clean up during the year, but tonight I thought it was particularly slow."

Manly will now enjoy their second bye in the space of a month before taking on the Sharks in Round 15, with NSW reserve Anthony Watmough and Cherry-Evans again under the pump to return just 72 hours after an Origin clash.

It's starting to feel like an Origin from the late 90s / early 00s.

Injuries and lack of options for the Maroons.

Let's hope they can lift for a classic performance.

If Slater and Inglis are injured the only way QLD can win is to give an S.O.S call to Matt Bowen to return to origin from the super league to play fullback. Just remember when Wayne brought back Alfie. I'm afraid Mal is too ignorant to make the tough calls.
