Just as a matter of interest, is a missed tackle only recorded if you actually get hands on the player with the ball? Is it decided by contact? How much contact? In other words, if you just get beaten by a player who you should have tackled , is it still recorded as a missed tackle? Thanks to anyone for any clarification.

For the record, i haven't bothered to watch the replay, so i won't make any comments on what Zillman did or didn't do, but I think the tries leaked speaks for itself.

im just bring a dose of reality to the place mate.

3 tries to walker came from kicks which were dam hard to defend.

As for his involvement in attack - lolz

In Zillman's case Walker isn't the problem, it's the perception that he gets preferencial treatment which in turn hampers the rest of the club, not just the team. That was a predictable performance from him.

IMO, the problem is Zillman is on a long term contract, and has a coach he openly states that he is in the team no-matter-what. So Zillman is comfortable and does not have to prove anything. Kind of like Darius Boyd's situation at Newcastle. He can play like complete crap, and still get picked.

When is James Roberts fit? Any word anyone up north?

Gold Coast Titans are in crisis mode with star half-back Albert Kelly in danger of missing Friday’s derby against the Broncos
TRAVIS MEYN & EMMA GREENWOOD GOLD COAST BULLETIN MAY 14, 2014 10:34AM
    BE THE FIRST TO RESPOND

THE Titans are in crisis mode with star half-back Albert Kelly in danger of missing Friday’s derby against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

Kelly was unable to finish yesterday’s training session after suffering a hamstring *injury, further derailing the Gold Coast’s campaign as co-captain Greg Bird fronts the NRL judiciary tonight.

Kelly’s halves partner Aidan Sezer was also absent from the session as he continues to battle soreness in his left ankle.

Kelly and Sezer pushed themselves in order to play in last Saturday’s 40-18 loss to the Rabbitohs but pulled up sore after the heavy defeat.

Kelly underwent further X-rays on Monday which showed the hairline crack in his leg had healed but yesterday’s hamstring problem was a further setback in his bid to recapture full fitness after a blistering start to the season.

Titans vice-captain William Zillman yesterday trained at five-eighth in place of Sezer and coach John Cartwright named his starting halves *despite their injury concerns.

Zillman was named in the centres where he will have the daunting task of marking up on Origin and Kangaroos star Justin Hodges after a nightmare return to the NRL in which he made just 17m from three runs and only two tackles in the Rabbitohs’ rout.

But Cartwright said he was up to the task.

“I wouldn’t pick him if he wasn’t up to it,” Cartwright said.

“That’s the criteria for being picked for first grade, if you’re up to it and he’s up to it.”

Cartwright made a number of changes to the side that was thumped by the Rabbitohs with Ryan James and Matt Srama dropped to the Intrust Super Cup.

Matt White, Paul Carter (both suspension) and veteran Luke Bailey (injury) will return to the bench along with Cody Nelson, who made his debut against the Tigers recently.

Titans co-captain Nate Myles said it was up to the recalled players and senior figures to stand up in the absence of Bird and other key personnel.

“Mark Minichiello’s going to step up, big Dave (Taylor) is there as well and Paul Carter’s probably not in too dissimilar a mould to Birdy,” he said.

“There’s quite a few boys coming back from suspension and injury which is going to be helpful. We know what we have to do. We have to look after ourselves.”

Was supposed to be next round (11)

He's training and everything but for some reason the Titans are not mentioning him in any injury update videos or anything

Ashley Harrison will miss Friday's local derby with the Brisbane Broncos. Harro has not fully recovered from a bout of concussion suffered in the clash with the Rabbitohs on Saturday night. Coach John Cartwright will name a replacement at training tomorrow.

Roberts definitely will be a wizzer at least with our backs as competition.... him and alby have played a lot of footy together in their younger days, cant wait to see the G.I cousins together in action!

This is bad, especially if Bird is out.

highly doubt he will get much game time this yr.

He'd have to have a few tough and spectacular games at Q Cup straight from the get go to be considered ahead of a lot infront of him.

You're right Teke ... Zillman is a huge challenge ... the proverbial immovable object.
