Again, I try to make my point, don't you think there are plenty of Specialist Goalkickers in the QRL and around the GC area, why does every player have to be bought? The club will fail ten times as quickly with no grass roots, You can't expected Marquee players to continue to sign to the club, at some point, a LOCAL aspect has to come into play.

I agree with you Lachy, we probably only need to get another couple of well known players and the rest of the team should be made up from young players from local area and our feeder clubs, burleigh, seagulls and the jets. The team needs to be blooded with youth. We don't need any more players in there 30's either, where the team will only get 1-2 yrs out of them at best.

Getting back to getting a specailist goal kicker, I.m sure we could find one in the QRL who isn't going to have a hefty price tag on him. I do belive we need a kicker with at least a 65-70% success rate. Gold Coast teams in the past have not always had a specialist goal kicker and it's so frustrating to be able to score the trys but being let down by not converting it into 6 points.

Of course there will be 'grass roots' players from the GC area being brought to the Titans and developed though the club will continue to bring in current NRL players to ensure we are competitive from year 1, not year 3.

Again, the position we find ourselves as a club is a unique one. Carty, Scott Sattler and Gilly will/are scouting the QRL and lower grade teams in the NRL for players that have potential who can make an impact on the team. Young Brett Delaney from the Eels for example fits that billing.

Carty has said from the get go we are looking for the cream of the crop for 2007 to ensure we have the players on board for the Titans to make the necessary impact keeping in line with the short term goals (see Q&A with Michael Searle in the Titans forum) the club has set.

The key word you use is "continue"
We are signing for the first year. Local players will learn from the players that have already signed.
You do have a point when signing in future years.
Hopfully our Grass roots players will eventually be dominating the comp.
