Default 2007 Titans: Goal-kicker needed, apply within

2007 Titans: Goal-kicker needed, apply within

If you have no reliable goal kicker in the modern game, you are behind the eight ball before you step on to the field. Look no further than Brisbane who struggled all year with a miserable goal kicking % and then look at the two teams contesting the Grand Final on Sunday night, a stark contrast wouldn't you agree?

Josh Hannay is a very good goal kicker for the NQ Cowboys and Brett Hodgson in 2005 was arguably the best in the business perhaps taking the mantle from El Masri (albeit temporary) in the same process. At the moment we have signed Presto' though he is not IMO the answer for our club in 2007 in this department despite and improved showing in 2005.

    Two questions for you:

    1. What importance should John Cartwright put on the teams goal kicker in 2007?

    2. If Preston Campbell is not the answer (if he is fine with you, don't answer), who should we be looking at as a possible future signing?

    Cheers

If they do actually come through and sign Paul Deacon, then there's your goal kicker, he's just as good of a goal kicker, if not better, than El Masri.

Inglis is a good kicker, but he is probably out of reach.

inglis is with the storm untill 2008....unless he can take time off of the storm to come kick your goals i think its highly unlikely he will be kicking goals for the titans.

Now to the questions...I agree with your points deegan it is very important to have a good goal kicker, preferably one who is in the high 70%-80% range. The 2005 season was so close that 2 points could mean winning a game or losing a game or even mean missing out on the 8. As the attack and defence gets better kicking is extremely important.

If the titans dont sign a noted goal kicker capable of 70%-80% range then i think presto is the way to go he is good with the boot and will do the job untill another kicker can be brought to the club.

I thik presto is a great kicker.

The importance of a goal kicker these days is huge, so i would be putting about a 80% importance on the goal kicker, but once again i belive presto is great for the job.

70% aint bad, if they can't get anyone else whos a decent enough kicker.

But yes goal kicking is very important ... as seen this year ...(and Lockyer was stupid enough to keep doing it when we had Seymour and Parker).
