CALLING all proud Gold Coasters — step up and show your allegiance.
Gold Coast NRL footy fans are urged to show their support as the Titans take on archrivals Brisbane Broncos for Queensland pride at Cbus Super Stadium tonight.
Titans officials are hoping for a full house of blue and gold to help cheer our team over the line and make the northern neighbour feel as unwelcome as possible.
More than 17,000 tickets have been sold for tonight’s game but that is still well short of the stadium’s 27,000 seat capacity.
Tonight’s game will also be one of the rare times of the year when footy fans Tony Sexton and his son Toby don’t see eye to eye.
The pair have never missed the annual derby but while Tony has been a Titans season ticket holder from day one, 13-year-old Toby remains a staunch Broncos fan.
“We are very passionate about our teams and whoever wins gets some good bragging rights for a few weeks,” Mr Sexton said.
The Sextons are taking it one step further this time, with the winner displaying their team’s flag at the front of the house for a week.
“The Titans are going well this season so I am feeling good,” Mr Sexton said.
